SCHWEINBERG GERTRUDE C. Age 81, of El Campo, TX, formerly of Pittsburgh, on Sat., Jan. 19, 2002. She was born on June 17, 1920 in Pgh. to the late Francis and Catherine Shaeffer Becker. She was a Homemaker & a member of the St. Philip's Catholic Church. Mother of Suzy Freeman, of El Campo, TX, Trudy Codelka, of Pgh., Paul Schweinberg, of Ft. Myers, FL; sister of Frank Becker, of Pgh.; grandmother of Nicole Rasch, Lance Speck, Billy Freeman, Shawn Freeman, Katie Codelka, Thomas Codelka, Paul Codelka and Lark Schweinberg; great-grandmother of Zoey Rasch and Suzannah Rasch; preceded in death by her husband Paul Schweinberg and son William Schweinberg. Funeral Mass Mon. 10 A.M. at St. Philip's Catholic Church in El Campo. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2-4 and 7-9PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 10 A.M. at the Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Support, Inc., P.O. Box 1417, El Campo, TX 77437.

Year of record is unclear... it could be 1866 or 1867. LDS film # 584563 1900 Census (below) states July, 1866. 1910 Census (Newark, Essex Co, NJ ED 122, sheet 10 B, line
85) indicates 1867. Death certificate indiactes July 4, 1867.


Baby Colie

Family legend has it that Annie Miller Colie gave birth twins (between Wilbur and Walter) who died, but the 1900 census indicates that of 4 children born, 3 are still living.


Stephen Uglay Jr

Steven's occupation from 1910 to his death was real estate broker and insurance agent. Steven died of a heart attack in the kitchen of his Irvington home.

Mary Sholder Uglay lived with her daughter, Lillian Uglay Craft, in her home at 119 Bond St. in Iselin, NJ.

Harriet V. Uglay

Hattie fell ill as a teenager. Doctors were perplexed by her apparant lack of physical symptoms. Because she would frequently curl up into a fetal position, they suspected she was mentally ill and placed in a long term care facility. After several years, it was discovered that she had a tumor on her spinal cord. This was removed, but her years of illness had taken their toll. She died at the age of 31. Hattie never married or had children.

JAMES J. CAREY JR.., ATTORNEY, CORPORATE OFFICER
IN NYC, 79
James J. Carey, 79, of Chester died yesterday [30 Nov 2003] in the Department
of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Center at Lyons. A Mass will be at 10
a.m. Wednesday in St. Lawrence Church, Chester. Arrangements are by the William J.
Leber Funeral Home, Chester.
An attorney, Mr. Carey was employed by the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in
New York City as senior vice president before retiring in 1987. Earlier, he had worked
for General Electric in Cleveland, Ohio for more than 20 years.
Mr. Carey was a 1948 graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, and earned
his law degree from Fordham Law School, New York City, four years later. An Army
veteran of World War II and recipient of two Battle Starts, Mr. Carey continued to serve
with the Air Force for 13 years as a second lieutenant.
He was a member of the New York Bar Association, a former vice president of the St.
Helena’s Holy Name, Edison, and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher in Ohio.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Ohio and Colonia before moving to Chester three years ago.
Surviving are Vera, his wife of 53 years; sons, James J. III, Daniel, and Brian; a daughter,
Carol Jennings; a brother, Donald; and seven grandchildren.
