Isadore Joseph Burkhart

Isadore is referred to as Theodore in the 1900 census.

On 5 Jun 1918, 21 year old Isadore J. Burkhart of Rt. 3, Woodsfield, Ohio registered for the US military draft. He stated that he was born March 4th 1897 in Woodsfield. Jacob Burkhart was listed as both Isadore's next of kin and his employer. Isadore was described as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and light brown hair.

At the time of the 1930 censu, Isadore J. Burkhart (33) and his wife, Lucille V. (24) owned a home worth $700 in Miltonsburg, Monroe County, Ohio. Both were natives of Ohio, as were their parents. The couple had been married about a year, according to the census. Isadore worked as a laborer in a saw mill.

Isadore Burkhart’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 11 Jun 1976:
WOODSFIELD - Isadore J. Burkhart, 79, of Church street,
Woodsfield, a retired truck driver and farmer, died Wednesday
afternoon at his home after a long illness. He was born March
4, 1897 at Woodsfield Route 3.
Mr. Burkhart was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church,
American Legion Post 87, Workd War I Veterans and the 40
and 8.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Mary Burkhart of the home
and Mrs. Elizabeth Carrick of Canton, a brother Otto G. Burk-
hart Sr. of Woodsfield Route 3.
Friends may call at the Bauer and Turner Funeral Home
here where veterans’ services will be held at 7:30 p.m. followed
by Rosary devotions.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester
Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield.

According to the Ohio online death certificate index, Isadore was divorced at the time of his death.

It is not known if "Settie" was Lucille's nickname, or if Isadore had more than one wife.

In 1880, Peter (26) and Lana (26) Wahl lived on a farm in Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with 4 month old Olivia. Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio, as were their parents, according to the census.

Frank A. Burkhart

Obituary:
Frank A. Burkhart, 75, of 585 Pleasant Grove road, a retired electrician, was dead on arrival at 9:20 a.m., Sunday [20 May 1973] at Good Samaritan Medical Center of an apparent heart attack suffered earlier.
He was born Sept. 6, 1897 in Lewisville, the son of Jacob and Rosalie Haren Burkhart. He had been a Zanesville resident 40 years.
Mr. Burkhart was a former employee of Browning Electric Company and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic church, its Holy Name and Purgatorial societies.
Survivors include his widow, the former Marie Elizabeth Merkle; a son, Francis J. Burkhart of 625 Pleasant Grove road; two sisters, Sister Adelaide of Tiffin and Mrs. Leo (Theresa) Noon of Dresden; two brothers, Sylvester of East pike and Leo of Canton; two granddaughters, Lisa Marie and Carolyn. Two brothers are deceased.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hillis Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Teresa M. Noon, 89, of Dresden, died September 22
in Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville. She was born
January 26, 1900 in Monroe County, the daughter of Jacob
and Roselia (Haren) Burkhart. She had been a cook at Good
Samaritan Hospital and was a member of St. Ann Catholic
Church in Dresden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Noon
in 1967; four brothers, Leo, Frank, Roman, and Isadore Burkhart.
Surviving are two stepsons, Father Robert Noon of Lancaster
and Richard Noon; One brother, Sylvester Burkhart
of Zanesville; one sister, Sister Mary Adelaid, O.S.F. of Tiffin.
Mass of Christian Burial was September 26 at St. Ann
Catholic Church, Dresden, with Father Robert Noon and Father
Frank Miller officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanes-
ville. Arrangements were made by Baughman-Vensil-Orr Funeral
Home, Dresden Chapel, Dresden.


Sylvester B. Burkhart

On 1 Feb 1946, The Zanesbille Times Recorder (pg 5 B) recorded the following real estate transfer:
Isadore A. Burkhart to Sylvester B. Burkhart, 5 acres in Washington township.
The two men were brothers.

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):
Sylvester B. Burkhart, 90, formerly of East Pike, died at 1:57 p.m. Sunday,
October 23, 1994, at Willow Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born
April 22, 1904, in Lewisville, Monroe County, Mr. Burkhart was a member of
St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He retired in 1975 as an auto mechanic for Triangle
Motor Sales Co. after 50 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Julia M. Dietenbeck Burkhart, who he married June 16,
1931; three daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor A. and Walter Flack of New Albany,
Rosalia A. and Bill Parry and Mary A. and James McKee, all of Zanesville; four sons
and daughters-in-law, John R. and Mary Burkhart of Howard, Lawrence D and Laurel
Burkhart, Thomas J. and Sue Burkhart and James V. and Ann Burkhart, all of Zanesville;
a sister, Sister M. Adelaide Burkhart of Tiffin; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren
and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Rosalia Haren Burkhart, a son
Bernard Burkhart, a sister, and four brothers.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 1994 at Hillis Funeral
Home, 935 Forest Avenue. Christian vigil services will be 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home. Interment in Mount Olive Cemetery, Zanesville, Ohio.


John Jacob Dietenbeck

Obituary:
J. J. DIETENBECK FUNERAL ON MONDAY
Funeral services for John J. Dietenbeck, 65, former
Weller pottery employee, who died Thursday [2 Mar 1939] at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sylvester Burkhart, East pike,
will be held at 9 o’clock Monday morning at St. Nicholas Cath-
olic church. Burial will be in Mount Olives. Mr. Dietenbeck,
who spent his entire life in this city, had been ill for almost
seven years.
Surviving are his widow, Eleanor; one son, Frederick,
1070 Marietta street; the daughter, Mrs. Burkhart; two brothers,
Joseph and Fred, both of Zanesville; on sister, Mrs. Catherine
Royer, 1046 Marietta street; an aunt, Miss Mary Krebs, Muskin-
gum avenue, and five grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the daughter’s residence
at noon Saturday from Keck funeral home.
