Notes

John Restle

In 1900, 42 year old contractor John Restle owned a home at 320 School St. in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife of 16 years, Christina, and their four children, John (14), Christina (9), Anna (6), and Carrie (3) and a 26 year old boarder named Charles White. All of the children attended school except Carrie. John Restle came to America in 1883, and his wife in 1880.

Census data conflict on John's age and date of birth. His birthdate is given as "June 1856." (The month isn't clear, but the year is.) His age was initially written as 44 (which matches the birthdate), but that number is crossed out, and "42" (?) is written above it.

The three oldest Restle children married siblings from the Scheetz family.

Christina

By June 1900, Christina Restle had given birth to four children, all of whom were living at the time of the census.
