According to the census, Peter and Jennie were 31 and 25 years old, respectively, when they were first married. (This conflicts with information given in 1910).

Jennie A. Traynor

According to the 1930 census, Jennie was born in England. Her parents were natives of the Irish Free State. The 1900 census indicates that she came to America in 1890. As of 1910, all six of the children that Jennie gave birth to were living.

John Nicholas Burkhart

In 1910, 41 year old John (W?) Burkhart lived with his wife of 19 years, Ida (37) in a morthgaged home at 48 Allen Ave. in Donora Boro, Washington Co., Pennsylvania. Living with them were their children Minnie (17), Ethel (16), Gerald (12), Elmer (11), Isabel (9), Lester (7), Mercedes (6), and John (3). Elmer, Isabel, Lester and Mercedes attended school. John worked as a galvenizer in a wire mill and Minnie worked in a mantel factory (The occupation cannot be read on the census form). John and his parents were born in Ohio; Ida was born in West Virginia, her father in Pennsylvania, and her mother in Ohio. All of the children were born in Pennsylvania. According to the census, Ida had given birth to 9 children by 1910, all of whom were still alive. Not appearing with the family in 1910 is their daughter Ruth who would have been 14 at the time of the census.

Ruth Augusta Burkhart

Ruth did not appear with the family in the 1910 census. In 1910, 14 year old Ruth Burkhart worked as a servant in the home of John and Kathryn Harrington on McKean Ave. in Donora Boro, Washington Co., Pennsylvania. Mr. Harrington worked as a theater manager. Ruth was born in Pennsylvania, her parents in Ohio.

Cecelia Burkhart

Sources conflict on date of birth:
Aug 1879 -- 1880 census
Oct 1880 -- 1900 census
08 Aug 1880 -- Hartley

Since the date of the 1880 US census was June 1, 1880 and Cecelia Burkhart was enumerated in that census, the two latter dates of birth cannot be correct.

At the time of the 1900 census, Celia Burkhart (19) lived with her parents in Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She worked as a laundress, as did her sister.
