At the time of the 1880 census, Jacob Brubaugh (32) and his wife Mary (30) lived on a farm in Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. Living with them were their sons Geo N. (9), Charles F. (7), John W. (5), and Andrew C. (1). The oldest three boys attended school. The census states that Jacob and Mary were natives of Bavaria. The children were all born in Ohio.

In 1900, Jacob Brubach (54) and his wife Mary (52) still lived on a farm in Center Twp. with their children Andrew G. (21), Sylvester (16), Wilfrid E. (14) and Jacob O. (10). (The online scanned copy of the census page is very dark and difficult to read.)

The following note appeared in The Zanesville Signal (page 7) on 15 Jan 1927:
WOODSFIELD - Jacob Brubach, highly respected resident,
celebrated his eighty-first birthday January 6. He spends part of his
time with his son, Sylvester, of this place, [and] is very active and
enjoys the best of health. His many friends wish for him many more
birthdays.

In 1930, 84 year old widower Jacob Brubach lived with the family of his son John on their farm in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio.

Sources conflict on place of birth. The 1880 census states that Jacob Brubach was born in Bavaria. Researcher Charlie Burkhart states that Jacob Brubach was born in Germany. The 1900 and 1930 census indicate he was born in Ohio, as does his death certificate.
