Thomas E. Kress, age 56, of Canton, passed away early Friday morning in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton, a son of Maxine Chenevey Kress, of Louisville, and the late Joseph Kress, and was a life resident of this area.
Tom was a member of the first graduating class of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1968. He grew up in Harrisburg, and enjoyed helping his father in the family grocery store there. He was a Retail Specialist for Campbell Soup Co. for the last 21 years. Tom was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Louisville Council #2530, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Louisville Eagles. He was an avid rabbit hunter, golfer, bowler, and softball player. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He also was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Webster Lazarites.
Surviving besides his mother is his wife, Pattie L. Kress, with whom he celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 8th; one daughter, Erin Kress, of Canton; two sons, Adam Kress and his fiancée, Bambi Mowery, of Canton, and Mark Kress, of the home; one sister, and brother-in-law, Jane and Donald Impagliozza, of Canton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Betty Kress, of Canton, twins Jim and Darlene Kress, of Louisville and John and Audrey Kress, of Canton; his mother-in-law, Mary Lazarites, , a brother-in-law and his wife, Ted and Pam Lazarites, and a sister-in-law, Cheri Householder, all of North Canton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and five great-nephews.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg with Fr. Howard Ziemba and Fr. Robert Hannon as Celebrants. Interment in Sacred Heart of Mary Church Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 5-9 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made for his children’s college fund or to the American Cancer Society.
