Ralph Kendall

Ralph Kendall was a member of Typographical Union No. 199 of Zanesville, Ohio. He ws the union's seargent-at-arms in 1948. (Source:Zanesville Signal, 20 May 1948, page 7) Ralph worked as a printer for the Zanesville Times Recorder.

The following note appeared in the "Fire Alarms" column of the Zanesville Times Recorder on 2 May 1965:
4:59 p.m. Defective wiring in a radio at
the Ralph Kendall residence, 805 Dryden road
Damage to radio only.


Doris M. Gooden

Doris Gooden Kendall and her sister-in-law, Margene Valentine Gooden were members of the Merri-Time Bridge Club in Zanesville in the 1940s.

Mrs. Ralph Kendall was a kindergarten room mother and a member of the Garfield PTA in Zanesville, Ohio in 1952.


Dwight Andrew Gooden

Dwight Gooden graduated from Lash High School in Zanesville, Ohio in 1938. Dwight was the class treasurer.

Wedding announcement from the Zanesville Signal, 4 Feb 1951:
MISS MAXINE KESSLER SECOND BRIDE AT ST. NICHOLAS SATURDAY
St. Nicholas Catholic church decorated with white gladioli,
aspidistra foliage and palms and ferns was the scene of two
big weddings yesterday morning. Miss Maxine Evelyn Kes-
sler was the second bride to walk down its white covered aisle.
Her wedding to Stanley Albion Sheck at 10:30 o’clock followed
that of Miss Patricia Singer and Don McEvoy.
Music for the ceremony was presented by Miss Margaret
Dennis, organist, and Jack Guinsler, vocalist, and Miss Arclia
Ragor, chimes. During the nuptial low mass, Mr. Guinsler
sang “Prayer for a Perfect Life”, “Ave Maria”, “Panis Angelicus”,
"Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy”, “Dear Lady of Fatima” and when
the couple knelt at the Blessed Virgin altar, “On This Day Oh
Beautiful Mother”. Miss Ragor played “Oh Lord I Am Not
Worthy” on the chimes.
Harkace E. Pryor escorted his stepdaughter to the altar.
She wore a bridal gown of white slipper satin with nylon
marquisette yoke buttoned to the throat with satin covered
buttons. The yoke was outlined with a Chantilly lace bertha.
The skirt and full train was appliquéd at the edge with the
same lace. Handmade illusion leaves outlined the lace Juliet
cap and the edge of the full circular veil was appliquéd with
lace. Her only jewelry was a pair of pearl earrings, gift of the
bridegroom. During the mass the bride used a white prayer
book, gift of the mother. She carried a Colonial bouquet of
red Happiness roses with white lilac and lace ruffling and
showered with a cascade of stephanotis.
Mrs. William Carpenter, cousin of the bride, was matron
of honor. She wore a gown of heavy slipper satin in pale
green. The molded bodice was finished with a Peter Pan
collar and was buttoned to the waist with satin covered buttons.
Matching lace trimmed the bodice and full skirt in an overlaid
oblique pattern. She wore a small smocked bonnet of match-
ing satin and carried a colonial bouquet of bronze and yellow
freesias surrounding Talisman roses and ruffled with yellow
nylon net.
The bridesmaids were Miss Sophia Sheck, sister of the
bridegroom and Miss Cleo Gooden, cousin of the bride.
They wore gowns and bonnets like the matron of honor but
Miss Sheck’s was gold and Miss Gooden’s mauve. Their
bouquets were fashioned of yellow and lavender freesias
and centers of yellow jonquils and yellow roses and ruffled
with green nylon net. All the attendants wore lace gauntlets
to match their gowns. They wore rhinestone earrings, gifts
of the bride.
Michael Sheck was best man for his brother and guests
were seated by Richard Harmer, the bride’s cousin and
Richard Fleer.
The wedding breakfast was served to 19 guests at the
YWCA following the ceremony and in the afternoon from
2 until 4 o’clock a wedding reception for 200 guests was
held at the YWCA. Assistants were Miss Arecelia Ragor,
Miss Freda Bertke, Miss Louise Beard and Mrs. Kenneth
Denman.
When the couple left for a wedding trip to Georgia and
Florida, the bride was wearing a dark green suit with beige
and brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
Upon their return they will reside temporarily at 611 Echo
avenue.
The bride, daughter of Mrs. H. E. Pryor pf 611 Echo avenue
and the late Raymond Kessler, is a graduate of St. Thomas
high school and Meredith Business college. She is a mem-
ber of the church in which she was married and of Daughters
of Isabella, Fidelis Regina circle. She is employed as secretary
at Timmons-Polk, Inc.
Mr. Sheck is a graduate of Jefferson high school and is
a member of St. Nicholas Catholic church. He is the son of
John Sheck of Zanesville Route 5 and the late Mrs. Nellie
Sheck, and is engaged in construction work.

TWINS NAMED
The twin sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Albion Sheck of
Zanesville Rt. 5 have been dnamed Stanley David and Stephen
Gerard Sheck. The grandparents are John Sheck of Zanesville
Rt. 5 and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Pryor of 611 Echo avenue. The
great-grandfather is Henry Brahler of Echo avenue. Mrs.
Sheck is the former Maxine Kesslar.


Stanley David Sheck

Stanley D. Sheck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
A. Sheck, Route 5, is participating in a U.S. Air Force
Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFROTC) field training
encampment at Maxwell AFB, Ala.
During the encampment, cadets receive survival
and small arms training and aircraft and aircrew indoctrin-
ation. They also have the opportunity to observe careers
in which they might wish to serve as Air Force officers.
Cadet Sheck is a member of the AFROTC unit at
Ohio University. He is a 1971 graduate of Rosecrans High
School.


Linda Lee Kendall

HENDERSON KENDALL CEREMONY
Rev. Carl McClellan, pastor of First Christian
Church, officiated at the wedding Saturday [23 Dec
1967] of Miss Linda Lee Kendall, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Kendall of 805 Dryden road, to David Jack
Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henderson of
453 Taylor street.
The nuptials took place at 7:30 p.m. Mr.
Kendall walked to the altar with his daughter and
gave her in marriage.
For her wedding, she had selected a white
knit dress with rounded neckline, brief sleeves and
an empire bodice. A headpiece of white leaves with
short veil was worn by the bride and her flowers were
rust chrysanthemums and white carnations centered
with white roses.
Mrs. Roger Morris of Columbus, the bride’s
only attendant, wore a gold knit dress with matching
bow headpiece and veil and carried rust chrysanthe-
mums surrounded with yellow carnations.
Robert Henderson of Columbus was best
man. Robert Mercer and Roger Morris were ushers.
The reception was held at Nichol’s Restaurant.
Aides were Mrs. Robert Henderson, Mrs. David Clay,
Mrs. Fredrick Morrow and Miss Susan Pugh.
When the newlyweds return from a brief wed-
ding trip they will live at Rio Grande.
Mrs. Henderson attended Ohio State for two
years. She is a member of St. Luke American Church.
Mr. Henderson, a member of First Christian
Church is a senior at Rio Grande College. He is a
member of Pi Sigma Fraternity.


Laurabeth Storer

The wedding announcement of Laurabeth Storer and Stephen Sheck appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 7 Dec 1975:
AFTERNOON CEREMONY EVENT OF SATURDAY
In a ceremony solemnized at 1 p.m. Saturday
[6 Dec 1975] at Burgess Avenue United Methodist
Church in Columbus, Miss Laurabeth Storer became
the bride of Stephen G. Sheck. They are daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Storer of Columbus and Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley A. Sheck of Route 5.
Rev. Ed Linville, pastor, and Msgr. Roland
Winel of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, officiated at the
ecumenical ceremony. Mr. Storer gave his daughter
in marriage.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor length
gown which she had designed and made. It was styled
with lace pinafore. With it she wore a shoulder length
veil and carried an arrangement of red roses with pink
and white carnations and ivy.
The honor attendant was Miss Karol Painter
of Columbus. She wore deep pink with long sleeves
and lace collar. Her flowers were white carnations,
red roses, and baby’s breath in a nosegay arrange-
ment.
The bridesmaid was Miss Mary Ramsey
of Clarksville, a cousin of the bride. She wore bur-
gundy, designed the same as the honor attendant’s.
Miss Ramsey also carried a nosegay of carnations,
roses, and baby’s breath.
Stan Sheck was his brother’s best man.
Ushers were Keith Less and Gary and Tony Sheck,
also brothers of the bridegroom.
A luncheon buffet followed at Lincoln Lodge
in Columbus.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheck will live at 4863 Kings-
hill drive in Columbus.
Saturday’s bride is a senior at Ohio State
University where she is studying social work.
Her husband is also a senior at OSU and a
member of Phi Kappa Fraternity. He is majoring in
biomedical engineering.
