Forest A. Martin

Obituary:
Forest A. Martin, 83, of Sycamore Valley, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 23, 1983 in the Wetzel County Hospital , New Martinsville, WV.

He was a retired farmer. Hes was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Burkhart Martin in 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Barnett Martin; three sons, Dr. Norman Martin of Sardis, Paul of Auburn, Ala., and Harold of Detroit; a daughter Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Berger of Hannibal; two brothers, Arlie of Sycamore Valley and Floyd of Newark; a sister, Audrey Bechtel of Nova, Ohio; 11grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Burial was in Creighton Cemetery Lower Salem, Ohio.

Edmund R. Klemm

In 1930, Edmund R. and Verna Klemm lived on Edmund's parent's farm in Elk Township, Noble County, Ohio. Edmund worked at odd jobs. The couple had been married for about three years.


Verna V. Burkhart

Obituary:
LOWER SALEM - Mrs. Verna V. Klemm, 62, of Route
2 died at 6 p.m. Thursday (April 3) in Marietta Memorial Hospital
following a short illness.
She was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in
Harrietsville and the Catholic Women’s Club of the church.
Born Jan. 15, 1907 in Noble County, she was a daughter
of Charles and Elizabeth Holiday Burkhart. Her husband, Edmund,
died Oct. 12, 1948.
Surviving are her mother-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Klemm of
the home; four sisters.Mrs. Fred Hockenberry of Marietta, Mrs.
Forest Martin of Sycamore Valley, Ohio; Mrs. Clyde Fleeman and
Mrs. Von Kehl of Lower Salem, and one brother, Preston of Caldwell.
Two brothers also preceded her in death.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the Mallett Funeral Home
in Stafford where friends may call Saturday and Sunday.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Henry’s
Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Luciana officiating. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.


George J. Klemm

In 1930, George J. Klemm (53) owned a farm worth $1000 in Elk Twp. (near Harriettsville), Noble County, Ohio. Members of the household were his wife Minnie (45), children Edmund R. (24), Loretta L. (12) and Ralph E. (3 years 2 months), and Edmund's wife, Verna (23). Loretta attended school. Everyone in the household was born in Ohio. George and Minnie's parents were natives of Germany. Adjoining farms int he census were owned by Edward Smithberger and Alexander Smithberger.
