Esther F. Cornett

Esther Cornett Miller's obituary was published in The Sentinel (newspaper) (Shippensburg, PA), on Feb 26, 2004.

Esther F. Miller, 63, of 809 Crescent Drive, Shippensburg,
died Monday, Feb 23, 2004, in Menno-Haven, Chambersburg. Born Oct 12, 1940, in Zanesville, Ohio, she was a daughter
of the late Francis H. and Helen. E. (Zwick) Cornett. A 1958 graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School in Zanes-
ville, she was a bookkeeper for the former Galen Gates and Son
Clothing Store in Shippensburg and also did personal income
tax work for H&R Block and the former Clippinger and Associates. She attended Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg and
was a member of the Shippensburg University Faculty Wives club,
Shippensburg Civic club, Shippensburg Historical Society and the
Franklin county Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired
State Employees. Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Charles E. Miller, two
daughters, Dana M. Kennedy of Lusby, Md; and Cynthia L Pierce
of Carlisle; two brothers, David Cornett of Evans, Ga., and Henry
Cornett of Zanesville; two sisters, Joan Hills of Tucson, Ariz, and
Theresa Cornett of Victor, Idaho; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral
Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Dr. Francis H.
Norton officiating. burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society, 452 E. King St. Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Hospice of
the Good Shepard, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Entered the convent as Sister Frances OSF. Later left the convent.


David Andrew Cornett

The following appeared in the Zanesville Signal on November 22, 1944 Mrs. Francis Cornett and infant son David Andrew Cornett,
born Friday at Good Samaritan hospital have been removed
to their home, 918 Arch street.


Frank J. Hughes

Frank Hughes’ obituary, which contained many spelling errors, was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 24 May 1975:
WOODSFIELD - Frank J. Hughes, 75, of Route 1, a retired state highway employe, died at Barnesville Hospital Friday evening.
He was born on Sept 18, 1899, ner hear (sic) and was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mercedes Swick Hughes, a son, James, of the home, a brother, Herman, of Woodsfield, a daughter, Mrs. Ramesh (Mary) Batta of Wilmington, Del., three sisters, Mrs. Rena Kaiser of Miltonsburg, O., Mrs. Frances Mehler and Mrs. Urban Curm (sic), both of Woodsfield and a graddaughter (sic).
The body was taken to the Michener funeral home at Woodsfield where friends may call 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Maryann Helen Burns

Birth announcement from the Zanesville Signal, 2 Sep 1954:
The daughter born at Good Samaritan hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns of 754 Caldwell street has been named Maryann Helen. The paternal grandmother is Mrs. Mary Burns of South Zanesville. The mother is the former Clara Swick of Summerfield Route 2. They are the parents of a son, Robert, aged 15.
