Chrisopher Gallagher

In 1900, Christopher Gallagher (51 - Sep 1848) and his wife Jennie A. (41 - Jun 1859) owned a farm in Millwood, Guernsey County, Ohio with their children Charles A. (20 - Sep 1879), Janette (17 - Jul 1882), Julia (15 - Mar 1885), Grace (11 - Jun 1888), George (7 - Feb 1893) and Forrest (10 mos - Jul 1899). Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio. Christopher's parents were from Pennsylvania and Jennie's were from Virginia. Christopher and Jennie had been married for 23 years. Jennie had given birth to nine children, all of whom were still living.


Jacob Vollman

In 1850, 28 year old carpenter Jacob Volman lived in Cannelton, Perry County, Indiana. Other members of the household were Gertrude (25), Conrad (5), Sophia (2), Frederick (1) and a 23 year old woman named M. Dielmeyer. All of the adults were born in Prussia; all of the children were natives of Indiana. Jacob owned real estate worth $500 and his personal possessions were valued at $50. Jacob was the only member of the household who was employed. The family next door to the Volmans was that of 23 year old Prussian miner Jacob Schad. The relationship, if any, between Jacob Schad and Jacob Volman's mother -- Catherine Schaad Volman -- is not known.
