Patricia R. Synan

The wedding announcement of Patricia Synan and William Potter was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 20 Aug 1961:

St. Nicholas Catholic Church was the setting for the Saturday marriage of Miss Patricia Synan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Synan of 1203 Wheeling avenue, and William G. Potter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Potter of Coshocton. The Rev. Fr. Linus Drury celebrated the Nuptial High Mass. The double ring rites were exchanged at 11 a.m. Mr. Synan escorted his daughter.
The bride wore a gown of silk organza over taffeta. The chantilly lace bodice was designed with a crescent neckline and brief sleeves and was accented by iridescent seed pearls. Lace and pearl motifs accented the bouffant skirt which terminated into a brush train. Her veil of silk illusion was held by a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a cascade bouquet of white daisies and a crystal rosary.
Mrs. John Armstrong, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. She wore a street length dress of white silk organza over taffeta. She carried a bouquet of blue daisies.
Miss Rosemary Kress, as bridesmaid, wore an ensemble and carried a bouquet identical to the honor attendant’s. Miss Jane Synan was her sister’s junior bridesmaid. She wore a white silk organza over blue taffeta dress and carried a white basket of blue daisies.
Thomas Potter was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Daniel Synan, Joseph Synan, both brothers of the bride, and Dennis Potter, brother of the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony, a breakfast was held at Nichol’s Restaurant. The reception was held at the Zane Hotel with Miss Suzanne Smith, Miss Mary Sue O’Keefe, Miss Ann McKinnon and Miss Lorraine DeCamille as aides. Miss Barbara Miller, cousin of the bride, registered the guests.
The new Mrs. Potter, a graduate of Rosecrans High School, attended St. Mary of the Springs College, Columbus. A member of the church in which she was married, she is a fifth grade teacher at St. Gabriel’s School in Columbus.
Mr. Potter is a Coshocton High School graduate and is a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton. He is Spec. 4 with the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.


Jane Clare Synan

On 20 Sep 1953, the “Kiddie Karavan” photo spread in the Zanesville Signal contained photos of Jane Synan and James Quinn accompanied by the following caption:

Jane Clare Synan and James Robert Quinn are cousins. Jane is the 16 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Synan, 1203 Wheeling avenue. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Malone, 1036 Eastman street and Mrs. William Synan of Clyde Court. James Robert Quinn is the 6 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Quinn, Memphis, Tenn. Grandparents of this youngster are Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Quinn, 310 North Fifth street and Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Malone, 1036 Eastman street.

JANE SYNAN NAMES HER ATTENDANTS
Plans have been completed for the wedding of Miss Jane Clare Synan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Synan of 210 Anthony lane, to Robert Michael Dutro, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Robert Dutro of 1233 Lindbergh avenue.
The open church ceremony is announced for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at St. Nicholas Catholic church.
The bride’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe Synan, will be honor attendant.
Bridesmaids will be Miss Theresa Miller, a cousin of the bride, Miss Pattie Morrison, Miss Jean D’Alessandro of Parma Heights, and Mrs. Mark Miller.
Lynne Dutro, a cousin of the bridegroom, will be the flowergirl.
Franz Dutro, brother of the bridegroom, will serve as best man. Joe and Dan Synan, brothers of the bride, Doug Guinsler and Tom Smithberger will usher.
After the wedding reception will be held at Knights of Columbus Hall. Assistants will be Miss Connie Crowley, Miss Kathy Neidermeier, Mrs. Bob Kinney, Mrs. Jim Mirgon and the Misses Amy and Julie Potter and Tricia Armstrong, nieces of Synan.
Miss Synan is a 1970 graduate of Bishop Rosecrans High School and a 1974 graduate of Ohio Dominican College. She is employed by Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative in New Concord and is a member of St. Nicholas Church.
Mr. Dutro, a 1970 graduate of Bishop Rosecrans, will be a junior at Ohio State University. He is employed by J. C. Penney and Roadway Trucking Companies, both of Columbus. Mr. Dutro is a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.


Daniel M. Synan

This brief note appeared in the Zanesville Signal on 23 Apr 1953
Dan Synan, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Synan of 1204 Wheeling avenue, sustained a sprained ankle when he fell over an embankment while playing near his home. He was reported in fair condition today at Good Samaritan hospital.


The following article was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 4 Dec 1974:
FORMER RESIDENT IS HONORED
Dan Synan, of Troy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Synan of Anthony lane, has been awarded a Jaycees International Senatorial Senatorship.
The presentation was made at a district meeting of the Ohio Jaycees at Troy recently. The award is the highest honor a Jaycee can receive, and is given for outstanding service to his local chapter and the state organization.
Only four similar awards have been given in the 28 year history of the Troy Jaycees.
Synan, a graduate of Rosecrans High School, joined the Jaycees in 1967 and subsequently served as director, treasurer and internal vice president. He was president of the Troy chapter in 1971-72 and that year led the chapter to first place honors in the appropriate population division in the State of Ohio.
As project chairman of the Troy 1972 Bosses and Civic Recognition Night, Synan received first place award from the United States Jaycees for the event.
Synan is supervisor of the Industrial Insurance Department of the Hobart Corp. in Troy and lives in that city with his wife and son.


Carole Franks

Engagement announcement from the Zanesville Times Recorder, 10 May 1970
MR. SYNAN ENGAGED TO TROY GIRL
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Franks of Troy announce the engagement of their daughter, Carole, to Daniel M. Synan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Synan of 103 Wheeling avuenue.
Miss Franks completed her education in Australia and is employed as a secretary at Hobart Manufacturing in Troy.
Mr. Synan, a graduate of Wheeling College in West Virginia, is the payroll accountant for Hobart Manufacturing.
No date has been set for the wedding.


Joseph William Synan

Joe also has three degrees in Nuclear Engineering, one from Notre Dame and two from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He obtained a Masters in Theology at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, in 2001. An active runner, racquet sports player, golfer, mountain hiker - Joe has hiked to the highest point in more than 40 states, He and his wife Susan, a practicing psychotherapist, live in Texas.


Susan Grace Kelemen

Wedding announcement from the Zanesville Times Recorder, 9 Jun 1968

SYNAN-KELEMEN CONNECTICUT WEDDING IS FOLLOWED BY BERMUDA HONEYMOON
At 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in New Canaan, Conn, Miss Susan Grace Kelemen became the bride of Joseph William Synan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry D. Synan of 1203 Wheeling avenue. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Kelemen of New Canaan.
Rev. W. J. Byrne officiated at the double ring vows. Later in the day, the couple left for a honeymoon in Bermuda.
The bride wore a silk organza A-line gown trimmed with rows of Venise lace and velvet ribbon. The lace formed the cuff neckline and bordered the hemline and the Watteau train. The imported silk illusion veil was arranged from a matching Venise lace crown. White roses and stephanotis were carried by the bride who was given in marriage by her father.
Mrs. Roderic V. Noonan, the matron of honor, wore a formal length gown of bright lime ottoman. The dirndle skirt was cinched at the waist with bright lime satin. She wore a bright lime horsehair picture hat trimmed with moss green velvet and carried yellow and white daisies.
The bridesmaids, the Misses Beverly Kelemen of New Canaan, Jane Synan of Zanesville and Jeanne Curry and Althea Billings of Stamford, Conn., and Mary Lee Henry of Newington, Conn., carried yellow daisies with their ensembles which were like the one worn by the honor attendant.
Daniel Synan was best man, and serving as ushers were William Ford, Daniel Denver, Rudolph Navari, Roderic Noonan and John McCaffrey.
Miss Claire O’Brien was in charge of the guest registry at the reception which was held at Emily Shaw’s Pound Ridge, N.Y.
The bride, a secretary, was graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, Conn., and from Cardinal Cushing College, Brookline, Mass.
Mr. Synan, an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame, is a student of nuclear engineering in the graduate school of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He hand his bride will live in Arlington, Mass.

Patrick Robert Malone

Private Patrick Malone, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., has returned ther eafter a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Malone of 1036 Eastman street.
