Galon Steven Rodabaugh MD

The “20 Years Ago” column of the 8 Jan 1974 Lancaster [OH] Eagle Gazette reported the following news from Jan 1954:
Dr. Galon S. Rodabaugh, who had been practicing
medicine in Basil, had located in Lancaster and was
limiting his practice to anesthesiology. His offices were
at 223 E. Fifth Ave., where he and his family were residing.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University College of
Medicine, had interned at White Cross Hospital and had
served as a member of the United States Army Medical
Corps.

The following article appeared in the Lancaster [OH] Eagle Gazette, 21 Dec 1962:
HOLIDAY GUESTS
Dr. and Mrs. Galon S. Rodabaugh and family, 223 E.
Fifth Ave. have as their guest during the holidays Samir
El Kholy, Egypt.
Mr. El Kholy is attending Northwestern University post
graduate school of business. Activities planned for the
Rodabaugh’s guest include a trip to Washington D.C.
and various seasonal parties.
Also home for the holidays are Steven Rodabaugh of
Northwestern, Carol, Ohio State University, and Ronald,
Muskingum College. Priscilla, youngest member of the
family is a junior at Lancaster High School.


Margaret Pahl

MARGARET KARRER RODABAUGH Margaret Karrer Rodabaugh, 87, of Columbus, formerly of Plain City, died Sept. 21, 2002, surrounded by her family at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was a 1937 graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing in Columbus and worked as a nursing supervisor. After her marriage in 1939, she served as office nurse in family practice in Plain City with her husband, Herman, for 44 years. She was a 50-year member of King's Daughters, the Plain City Book Club and the Plain City Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, love of nature, generosity and Christmas cookies. She was born Dec. 24, 1914, in Carey to the late George I. and Minnie Stoll Pahl and was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Herman E. Karrer; a grandson, Andrew E. Karrer; two brothers, Gerald and Leroy Pahl; and a sister, Martha Pahl White. She is survived by her husband of seven years, Dr. Galon Rodabaugh; two sons, George H. (Carol) Karrer and John P. Karrer; grandchildren, Matthew Karrer and James (Paula) Karrer; and a sister, Catherine Long. Other survivors include Steve (Carol) Rodabaugh, Carol (Jack) Benninger, Ron (Sue) Rodabaugh and Priscilla Baker and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Plain City Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Don Hilkerbaumer and Dr. Charles Stenner will officiate and burial will be at the Dublin Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferguson Funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plain City Presbyterian Church Easy Entry Fund, 231 E. Main St., Plain City, Ohio 43064.


John B. Arnold

At the time of the 1920 census, widower John B. Arnold (30) lived with his widowed mother, Rosalia (73), unmarried sister Maggie V. (34), and children Marie A. (7), Raymond V. (7), and Rose M. (2 yrs 11 mos.). Only Marie attended school.

In 1930, John B. (40) and Coletta R. (39) Arnold owned a home worth $3500 on White Oak Avenue in Zanesville's 2nd ward, Muskingum County, Ohio. Living with them were their children, Marie A. (19), Raymond B. (16), Rosemary (13), and Clarence (4). Only Rosemary attended school. According to the census, the John and Coletta were 20 and 19 years old, respectively, when they first married. (This suggests that they both had previous spouses.) Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio. John's father and mother were born in Germany and Ohio, respectively, and Coletta's father and mother were natives of Ohio and Pennsylvania. John worked as a tinner for a roofer. Daughter Marie worked as a housekeeper for a private family. Like most of their neighbors, the Arnold family owned a radio set

John B. Arnold’s obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 15 Oct 1971:
RETIRED SHEET METAL WORKER DIES
John B. Arnold, 82, a retired sheet metal worker, died at 6:30
p.m. Thursday in Good Samaritan Medical Center after a three-
year illness.
He was born in Zanesville Aug 20, 1889, a son of Andrew and
Rosalia Schriber Arnold. His first wife, Angeline Davis, died in
1918. He later married the former Coletta Hupp who died in
1957.
Mr. Arnold was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic
church, its Holy Name Society, the Columbian Association
and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Rosemary)
Larson of 327 Yale avenue and Mrs. Ray (Marie) Weber of
Route 4, two sons, Ray Arnold of 811 St. Louis avenue and
Clarence Arnold of 335 Jordan avenue; a brother, Frank
Arnold of 757 Pine street; a sister, Mrs. Anna Hupp of Route
6, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three
brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Friends may call at Hillis Funeral home 3 to 5 and 7 to 9
p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
