Donald L. Thompson

The following article appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on October 3, 1952:
OCT. 2 IS UNLUCKY DAY FOR ROSECRANS PUPIL
October 2 seems to be an unlucky day in the life of Donald Thompson,
13, son of Mrs. Pauline Thompson of 121 North Sixth street and Walter
Thompson of 1064 Maysville avenue.
Donald was admitted to Good Samaritan hospital yesterday with a
double fracture of his left arm, sustained while participating in football
at Rosecrans field. He is an eighth grader at St. Thomas school.
One year ago yesterday, the boy was moved to Children's hospital,
Columbus, for polio treatment.


T. Thomas Calihan

T. Thomas Calihan's obituary appeared in The Times recorder )Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 8, 2004 SOUTH ZANESVILLE -- T. Thomas Calihan, 65, of South Zanesville,
died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Genesis Good Samaritan
emergency room.
He was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Zanesville, the son of Pauline Warner
Calihan and the late Evert B. Calihan. He was a retired mould maker with
Anchor Glass Container, where he worked for 36 years. He was an Army
veteran, having served from 1961 until 1963 and a member of VFW Post
1058, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a
member of USWA-American Flint Glass Workers Union and St. Thomas
Catholic Church.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Margaret "Peg" Kirkbride
Calihan, whom he married Aug. 28, 1959; three children, Bruce (Beth) Calihan
of South Zanesville, Jill (Steve) King-Sessions of Columbus and Chris (Kylie)
Calihan of South Zanesville; five grandchildren, Channing and Zy King, Tyler
and Dustin Calihan and Kassidi Calihan; a sister, Patricia Renner of Crooks-
ville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at
the William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White
Cottage.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the funeral home with
Father Jordan Lenaghan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
