Jacob Hoff

At the time of the 1930 census, 51 year old Jacob Hoff and his wife Rose E. (41) owned a home worth $800 on Marietta St. in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio. Living with them were Rose's three children from her first marriage, Albert D. (16), Vera E. (12) and Fred A. (10). The children's surname was Paulas. All three children attended school. Jacob's father was German, as was Rose's father. Both of their mothers were from Ohio. Everyone in the house was a native of Ohio. Jacob was a laborer who worked at odd jobs. The family did not own a radio set. According to the census, Jacob was first married when he was 26 (c. 1905). Rose was first married when she was 24 (c. 1912). This suggests that this was the second marriage for both of them.
