LOCAL FARMER WINS CORN CONTEST
Mr. Earl Schott has been named the 1947 Stark county
corn growing champion for producing a yield of 76.21 bushels of
corn per acre in a five acre plot on his farm near Louisville, Ohio,
according to a bulletin just received from contest headquarters of
the DeKalb National Corn Growing contest. The yield was calcu-
lated on dry, shelled corn basis.
This winning yield earns for Mr. Schott the coveted County
Plaque presented each year to the farmer producing the County’s largest
officially measured yield in the DeKalb contest.
The contest was inaugurated nine years ago and has been
entered by thousands of farmers in over twenty states and Canada each
year. Other farmers who had fields entered in the contest this year
were Wallace Byler of Hartville, Ohio; Roy E. Miller of Canton, Ohio;
