Megan Lynn Gildersleeve

The following birth announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on March 26, 1968: Daughter Named The daughter born March 23 to Mr. and Mrs. David Gildersleeve of Gardena, California has been named Megan Lynn. Mrs. Gildersleeve is the former Nancy Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Carter of 1327 Indiana street. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Elizabeth Gildersleeve of Santa Ana, calif. Great-grandmother is Mrs. Loretta Crum of South Eigth street.


Frances Kay Hill

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on December 24, 1977: GRAHAM-HILL VOWS EXCHANGED FRIDAY The wedding of Kay Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Hill of 940 Grove road, and Frederick Graham of Frazeysburg was Friday [Dec. 23] evening in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Scordo of St. Thomas and Rev. Timothy Heaton, pastor of Dresden United Methodist Church, performed the ceremony. Mr. Graham is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale F. Graham of Dresden Route 2. Mrs. John Briggs of Beaufort, S.C. was the bride's honor attendant and bridesmaids were Mrs. Thomas Eppley, Karen Hill, sister of the bride, Jane Mears and Mrs. Ronald Yusko of Columbus. Thomas Fell was Mr. Graham's best man and ushers were Michael Childers, Owen Graham, brother of the bridegroom, Richard Stafford and Mark Williams. For her wedding, the bride had chosen a gown of ivory chiffon with Venise lace trimming the empire bodice which was styled with a Queen Anne neckline and sheer double sleeves. the A-line skirt was of two tiers of chiffon with chapel-length train. A lace profile cap held the fingertip-length bridal veil which was bordered with silk Venise lace. Her bouquet was on Soma roses and baby's breath. The bride's attendants wore matching dresses of green qiana with sweetheart necklines, cap sleeves, and matching capelets. Their bouquets were of roses, fern and baby's breath. Aides for the reception in Dury Hall were Pamela Briggs, Mrs. Michael Childers, Mrs. James Dulc of Dallas, Texas, Amy Fell, Leanne Jordan, Linda Kirch and the bride's cousins, Mrs. Ken Probasco and Tina Hill. The newlyweds will live in Frazeysburg after a brief wedding trip. The bride was graduated from Zanesville High School and attended Otterbein College and Ohio University. She teaches in the Tri-Valley School District and belongs to the church in which she was married. Mr. Graham is a graduate of Tri-Valley High School, Ohio University and Liberty State College. He belongs to Dresden United Methodist Church and teaches at Tri-Valley High School.


Dale F. Graham

Obituary:

DRESDEN -- Dale F. "Scoop" Graham, 80, of Dresden, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Genesis Bethesda Hospital.

Mr. Graham was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Pitcarin, Pa., a son of the late Frank and Rose Ebert Graham. A 1943 graduate of Jefferson High School, Mr. Graham served in the US Army as a medic in the European Theatre during World War II. He had worked for Fauchs Construction Co. in Zanesville and for many years at Mineral Fibers Mfg. in Coshocton. Following retirement, he had worked at Northside Garden Center. He was an active member of the Dresden United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, serving on committees and doing whatever work needed done around the church and was also a member of the Charles Mitchell Post 399 American Legion. A former Dresden Youth League coach for baseball and basketball, Dale was a faithful supporter of Tri-Valley athletes. He was known for his 1963 Ford Ranchero, a vehicle he restored and drove regularly.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret L. "Peg" Willyard Graham, whom he married April 11, 1947; children, Fred (Kay) Graham of Nashport, Sharon (Mike) Nusbaum of Dresden, Owen (Peg) Graham of Dresden and Joyce (Bill) Evans of Johnstown; grandchildren, Mary Anne (Dennis) Cox of Newark, Michelle (Mike) Sciance of Dresden, Jill (Matt) Smith of Frazeysburg, Barry Evans of Johnstown, Todd (Yetta) Graham of Dresden, Marcy Graham of Coshocton, Joel Graham of St. Louis, Mo., and Elisabeth Graham and Jonathan Graham, both of Nashport; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Michael Sciance, Blayne and Brenna Smith and Skye Graham; and two brothers, Glenn (Audrey) Graham of York, Pa., and Robert (Marcell) Graham of Zanesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bertha Graham and Nettie (Henrietta) Rose Poorman; and three
brothers, Frank, Earl and Harry Graham.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, with Pastor Ricci Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Dresden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dresden United Methodist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
