Only George, Mary Magdelene and Jacob attended school. Of the older people in the household, only the mother, Catherine, was unable to read or write. Birthplaces agreed with those given in the previous census.

The family still resided in Summit Township in 1900. The household consisted of George Block (76), his wife of 40 years, Catherine (Caroline?) (65), and unmarried children Mary (37) and Jacob (27), a carpenter. A 31 year old unmarried man named George Block lived next door. This is likely the son of George and Catherine. According to the census, Catherine had given birth to 9 children, all of whom were still alive in 1900. George came to America in 1856 and was a naturalized citizen.

The family surname was not carried on, since neither of George Sr.'s sons had children.
