B.G. Schoeppner
Cumberland -- Beda George Schoeppner, 73, of Cumberland died unexpectedly
of an apparent heart attack at 5:45 a.m. Friday (Sep 13) at his home. Born July 30,
1895, he was a son of George and Catherine Zwick Schoeppner.
A retired farmer and carpenter, he was a member of the American Legion Post
No. 456, a veteran of World War I, and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church
in Belle Valley. Surviving are his widow, Marilla Blackstone Schoeppner; two sons,
Alfred of Sonora and James of South Zanesville; three daughters, Mrs. Eileen Kachilla,
Mrs. Pauline Wickham both of Cumberland, and Mrs. Virginia Briar of Cumberland
Route 2; three brothers, John, William, and Bernard, all of Canton; three sisters, Mrs.
Mildred Noll of Caldwell, Mrs. Sylvia Hinton of Mibile Ala., and Mrs. Marie Hoover
of Harrisburg; two step-sisters, Mrs. Kellye Burkhart of Magnolia and Mrs. Martha
Dick of Woodsfield; 13 grandchildrenl two step-grandchildren. Two brothers are
deceased.
Friends may call at Tom Funeral Home in Cumberland 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Requiem mass will
be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. George
Voytko officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.


Marilla Catherine Blackstone

Obituary:
CUMBERLAND - Mrs. Marilla Catherine Schoeppner, 86, of Cumberland,
died at 1:47 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 1988, at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She
was born June 20, 1902, at Fulda, daughter of the late Clark and Margaret Heil
Blackstone. Mrs. Schoeppner was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church
in Belle Valley, the Catholic Women’s Club, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are one son, James Schoeppner of Zanesville, three daughters, Mrs.
Andrew (Eileen) Kachilla) of Cumberland, Mrs. James (Pauline) Phipps of Cumberl-
-and and Mrs. George (Virginia) Brier of Caldwell; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Agnus)
Thompson of Zanesville, four brothers, Bernard Balckstone of Huntington, Ind.,
George Blackstone of New Concord, Paul Blackstone of Stovertown and Elmer
Blackstone of Zanesville; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and 12 great
-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one son, Alfred, and an infant daughter.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the
Tom Funeral Home in Cumberland. Rosary services will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church in
Belle Valley, with Father Gary Zalenski as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olivet
Cemetery.


George Schoeppner

In 1900, 34 year old farmer George Schoeppner lived on a farm that he owned in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his second wife Kate (30), and children Martha (9) -- from George's first marriage,George (4), Milda (2), and John (1). Also living with them was 56 year old farm laborer (Ferdi?) Hupp.

Living in the household at the time of the 1910 census (surname spelled Schoeppun): George (44), his wife Katie (40), and their children: Bida (14), Milda M (12), John P (11), Silvina P (9), Ramon J (6), Mera B (4), Willie S (3) and Carl E (> 1). George's two daughters from his frist marriage to Anna Burkhart -- Martha (19) and Ottilia (17) -- did not live with him.

CALDWELL - George Schoeppner, 77, died Monday in the home of hisdaughter, Mrs.
Frances Noll of Fulda.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Fred Dick of Lewisville, Mrs. GeorgeBurkhart of
Magnolia, Mrs. G. L. Hinton of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. William Hoover of Harrisburg, O., and
Mrs. Frances Noll of Fulda; six sons, John of Canton, Raymond of Hartville, William of
Louisville, Bernard of East Canton, Beda of Cumberland, O., and Pvt. Carl stationed at Ft.
Worth,Tex.; 27 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.


Catharina Zwick

The 1900 census states that all four of Kate Zwick Schoeppner's children were living at the time of the census.

MRS. SCHOEPPNER DIES NEAR CALDWELL
Mrs. George Schoeppner died Sunday morning at her
home near Caldwell after an extended illness. Survivors include
her husband, George, and the following children: Beda Schoeppner,
Cumberland, Mrs. Frances Noll, Fulda, John Schoeppner, William
Schoeppner, Bernard Schoeppner, and Mrs. Leon Hoover, all of
Canton, Carl Schoeppner and Mrs. T.L. Hinton, of Rittman, and
Raymond Schoeppner, Sharon.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o’clock Wednesday
morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Fulda. Burial will be
made in the church cemetery by the Brubach funeral home, Sum-
merfield.

MRS. SCHOEPPNER , 70, DIES IN NOBLE COUNTY
Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Katie
Schoeppner, 70, wife of George Schoeppner, Sunday morning at
Fulda, Noble County, where she had resided for 45 years. She
was a native of Monroe County.
Mrs. Schoeppner is survived by her husband, three
daughters, Mrs. Francis Noll of Fulda, Mrs. Gaylord Hinton
of Rittman, and Mrs. Leon Hoover of Louisville; six sons, Beda
and Raymond of Caldwell, John and Bernard of Canton, William
of Louisville and Carl Schoeppner of Rittman; two step daughters,
Mrs. George Burkhart of Magnolia, and Mrs. Fred Dick of Monroe
County; 26 grandchildren, six brothers, John and Michael Zwick
of Louisville; Peter, George, Joseph, and Charles Zwick of Lewis-
ville, Monroe County, and one sister, Mrs. Rose Smithburger of
Summerfield.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in St. Mary's
Catholic church at Fulda. Burial in the church cemetery.


Richard A Noll

In 1910, 27 year old Richard Noll lived in a mortgaged home at 433 Seddon Ave. in North Braddock, PA with his wife Clara (26) and children Harold (3) and Helen (1). He worked as a carpenter and contractor. Later, he had a small store (candy, cigars, etc.) Some time after that, he took a job with the county.

On Sep 12, 1918 35 year old Richard Aloysious Noll, dob Oct 5, 1882, of 433 Seddon Ave., North Braddock, Allegheny Co., Pa. registered for the military draft. According to his draft reigstration card he was of medium height and build and had brown eyes and dark hair. He was self employed as a news dealer at 703 4th Street in North Braddock and listed his nearest relative as his wife, Clara M. Noll.

At the time of the 1920 census , the Noll family owned the house on Seddon Ave. in North Braddock. Living there were Richard A. Noll (37), Clara M. (36), Harold G. (13), Helen M. (10), and Andrew B. (7). Helen and Andrew attended school, but Harold did not. Richard was a retail merchant working in a cigar and stationary store. Part of the house was rented to Fabian Axelson and his wife Julia, young Swedish immigrants.

In 1930, Richard (47) and Clara (46) Noll still lived at 433 Seddon Ave with their two oldest children, Harold (23) and Helen (21). The house was valued at $7000. Richard was employed as a district commissioner for the borough. Many of the families living on Seddon Avenue came from Fulda, Ohio. The house next to Richard Noll's in the census was that of his first cousin, Coletta Kraft Schockling.


Clara Margaret Schott

In 1910, both of Clara Schott Noll's two children were living.


Andrew Noll

Andrew Noll, who would have been about 17 in 1930, did not live with his parents and older siblings at the time of the census. He may have already been enrolled in seminary school. Andrew was ordained a Capuchin Priest on June 15, 1937. He served in Puerto Rico.

The following appeared in The Zanesville (OH) signal newspaper on June 25, 1937: TO SING MASS Rev. Clair Noll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Noll, North Braddock,
Pa., formerly of the Fulda community will sing his second high mass
Sunday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic church, Fulda. Rev. Father Noll is a grandson of John Schott, Fulda, and Mrs. Matilda
Noll, Olive community.


Martin Clement Noll

In 1910, 20 year old Martin Noll lived with his widowed mother and four younger brothers at 124 Hedgewood Ave. in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Marty worked as a blacksmith's helper.

In 1920, Martin C. Noll owned a house at 30 Hedgewood Ave. in Zanesville. He lived there with his widowed mother Matilda (56), and his unmarried brothers Alphonsus (25), William (22). Also living in the house was William's brother Albert Noll (28) and his wife Stella (24). Martin was employed as a machinist in a tube mill.

By 1930, Marty (40) had moved to North Braddock, PA. At the time of the census, he lived with his brother Ben's family at 500 Seddon Ave. Martin, who was unmarried at the time, worked as a news dealer in the store owned by his brother Dick. His future brother-in-law, Harry Schockling, lived next door.

Marty bought the news and candy store that was owned by his brother, Dick, by the railroad station in Braddock, PA. He had the store before he was married. Marty moved back to Zanesville, Ohio when he retired. According to the obituary of his brother-in-law, Ignatz Schockling, Marty and Emma were living at East Pike, Zanesville by 1963. He and Emma had no children.

Obituary:
Martin C. Noll, 96, formerly of 4365 East Pike, died at 1:32 a.m. Sunday June
16 [1985] at Sunny View Nursing Home following a long illness. Mr. Noll was a
Zanesville resident approximately 30 years, a former resident of Cambridge, and s
member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. .
He was born Mary 15, 1889 in Noble County, near Fulda, the son of Francis and
Matilda Singer Noll. Preceding him in death was his wife, Emma Schockling Noll in Nov.
6, 1972. Surviving are one brother, William F. Noll of 326 Hedgewood Ave., and several
nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hillis Funeral Home where rosary
will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church
with Father Stephen Jurasko O.P. as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.


Mary Emma Schockling

In 1930, 34 year old unmarried Ema Shockling lived and worked on the family farm with his widowed mother and two younger brothers in Enoch Twp., Noble County, According to her niece, Roger Schockling, "Emma went to Braddock to chase Mart Noll" around that time.

Obituary:
Mrs. Emma Noll, 76, of East Pike Route 4, died at 7:22 p.m. Monday [6 Nov 1972]
at Good Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient one day. She was born
Jan. 8, 1896, in Caldwell, a daughter of August and Kathryn Miller Schockling. Mrs. Noll
had lived in Zanesville 15 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and
the Rosary altar Society.
Surviving are her husband, Martin C. Noll, whom she married in 1930; two sisters, Miss
Mary Schockling and Mrs. Ida Gerst of Cambridge; three brothers, Br. Stephen of Belmont
Abbey in North Carolina, Edward J. Schockling of 941 Silliman street and Leonard Schockling
of Churchill, Pa.; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and five brothers are deceased.
Friends may call at the Hillis Funeral Home 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Albert Joseph Noll

In 1910, 18 year old Albert Noll lived with his widowed mother and three brothers at 124 Hedgewood Ave. in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Albert worked in the tile works as a glazier.

In 1920, Albert Noll (28) and his wife Stella M. (24) lived with Albert's unmarried brother Martin at 30 Hedgewood Ave. in Zanesville. Also living in the house were Albert's mother and two other single brothers, William and Alphonsus. Albert worked as a machinist in a tube mill.

At the time of the 1930 census, Albert J. (37) and Stella M. (34) Noll owned a home at 761 Hickory St. in Zanesville. They lived there with their three daughters, Mary (9), Dorothy (7), and Carolyn (4 yrs, 11 mos). The two older girls attended school. Albert was employed as a millwright in a tile factory.

The following article appeared in the "Service Record" column of the Zanesville Signal on Dec 5, 1944 Albert J. Noll of 1559 Hickory street, trustee for the local
V.F.W. did a real days work on Sunday when he obtained
the membership of four brothers to the post and their
mother for the Ladies Auxiliary. Mr. and Mrs. Leo G. Kuhn of 308 North Fifth street are
the parents of four sons serving overseas: Cpl. Raymond
Kenneth Kuhn in the Philippines; Pfc. Theodore Grover
Kuhn stationed in New Guinea; T-Sgt 3/c Michael Leo Kuhn
somewhere in France and Earl Harry Kuhn, Seaman 1/c in
the New Zealand area. The Kuhn's have another son in ser-
vice Pvt. Herman Kuhn with the medical corps stationed at
Homested Army Air field, Homested, Fla. The four boys now
overseas will be enrolled as members of the V.F.W., and their
mother, Mrs. Eleanor Kuhn admitted into the membership of
the auxiliary.

On his death certificate, Albert's occupation was given as shipping clerk of wholesale light fixtures.

Albert Noll's obituary appeared on page 5 of The Zanesville Times Recorder on 18 Sep 1947:

ALBERT J. NOLL FUNERAL SATURDAY
Funeral services for Albert J. Noll, 56, of 1559 Hickory street,
will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Nicholas
Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olive cemetery. Noll died at
his home Wednesday morning [17 Sep 1947] following a linger-
ing illness. He had been in ill health since March.
A native of Caldwell, he had spent most of his life in Zanesville.
He had been employed at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Co. Plant No. 2
for a number of years, and for the past three years had been a
shipping clerk at the American Light Co.
The deceased was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic church
and the Holy Name and Purgatorial Societies of the church. He
was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 1058, and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Stella Noll; three daughters, Mary
Lou and Dorothy Ann Noll, both of the home, and Mrs. Caroline
Wymer of 126 Main Street; five brothers, Alphonsus Noll of Prospect
Avenue, William F. Noll of Hedgewood Avenue, Martin Noll of
Cambridge, Benjamin Noll of Caldwell, and Richard Noll of
Braddock, Pa.
The body will be removed to the residence this morning from
the Keck funeral home.


Stella Mary Schockling

Stella Schockling Noll's obituary appeared on page 10 B of the Zanesville Times Recorder on 06 May 1964:

Mrs. Stella M. Noll, 68, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Richard Wymer of 3280 Nob Hill after an illness of four months. Mrs. Noll was born Jun 22, 1895, in Caldwell, a daughter of the late Sebastian and Caroline Schoeppner Schockling. She had spent most of her life in Zanesville. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and its Purgatorial Society.
In addition to Mrs. Wymer, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. John Stubbs of 3750 Mill drive, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. J. C. Worstall of 1270 Richey Road; a brother, Andrew Schockling of Canton, four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Heppner; Mrs. Cecilia Crum, and Mrs. Mildred Archer, all of Caldwell; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Another sister, Mrs. Barbara McKee of Caldwell died two weeks ago. Mrs. Noll's husband, Albert, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Church. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Bolin-Bryan's Forest Avenue Chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.

NOLL PALLBEARERS
Pallbearers for Mrs. Stella Noll, 68, of 3750 Mill drive [Zanesville, OH] ill be Joseph Worstall, Richard Wymer, John Stubbs, James Noll and Edward Schockling.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery with Bolin-Bryan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Alphonsus N. Noll

On June 24, 1917, Alphonsus Noll of 30 Hedgewood Ave., Zanesville, Ohio filled out a draft registration card. He gave his birthplace as "Rado, Ohio." He was a clerk at A. Loeb in Zanesville. Alphonsus was a short man of medium build with brown eyes and black hair.

In 1920, Alphonsus Noll lived with his brothers and widowed mother at 30 Hedgewood Ave., Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Alphonsus' occupation is difficult to read; he was a salesman of some sort.

An article titled "Numerous Bans are Published at St. Nicholas" in the Zanesville Times Recorder on September 30, 1924 announced the publishing of wedding bans at St. Nicholas Church included those of Alphonsus B. Noll of Hedgewood avenue and Miss Elizabeth Crum of Dexter City. Mr. Noll is identified as an employee of Moore, Swank & company.

In 1930, 35 year old Alphonsus N. Noll, owned a home worth $7,500 at 220 Prospect Avenue in Zanesville. He lived there with his wife Elizabeth (31) and children Bonita M. (3 yrs 8 months) and Raymond F. (1 yr 6 months). Alphonsus was the proprietor of a clothing store. Unlike many of their neighbors, the Noll family did not own a radio set.

Following the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Noll, in 1938, Alphonsus Noll married her younger sister, Marie.

The following notice appeared in the classified ads on page 18 of The Zanesville Times Recorder on 02 Jul 1957

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT
Estate of Alphonsus N. Noll Deceased. Marie A. Noll whose address is Zanesville, Ohio has been appointed and qualified as Executrix of the estate of Alphonsus N. Noll late of Muskingum County, Ohio, deceased.

Elizabeth Crum

Elizabeth Noll's obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on February 23, 1938.
LOCAL RESIDENT DIES IN HOSPITAL Mrs. Elizabeth Noll, 40, wife of Alphonsus Noll, 824 Prospect
avenue, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning in Good Samaritan
hospital following an illness of complications. Surviving are her husband, one daughter Bonita, and two sons,
Raymond and Robert, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Crum of Caldwell; five sisters, Mrs. Katherine Schwallie
of North Canton, Mrs. Rose Illinois, Mrs. Lena Kennen of Carlisle,
O., Mrs. Clara Smithberger of Harriettsville, O., and Miss Marie
Crum of Caldwell; and one brother, Beda Crum, also of Caldwell. The body was removed to Keck funeral home to be prepared
for burial and will be returned to the residence Thursday afternoon. Funeral rites will be conducted at 8:30 o'clock Saturday at St.
Nicholas Catholic church and burial will be made in Mt. Olive
cemetery.


Bonita Margaret Noll

The following article was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 7 Oct 1931:
BIRTHDAY PARTY IS HELD AT NOLL HOME
Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Noll, of 220 Prospect avenue, entertained
for 10 little friends of their daughter, Bonita, Tuesday afternoon,
honoring her fifth birthday. Hours were from 4 to 6 and a very
enjoyable time was had by all.
Prizes were awarded [to] Dorothy Ney and Pauline Schafer. A birthday cake with five candles was the centerpiece at the table
for refreshments. Among those present were: Chester Forshey,
Gordon Roberts, Bernard Ziemer, Raymond Noll, Pauline and
Gene Schafer, Dorothy Ney, Maxine Pritchard, Phillis Forshey
and the honor guest, Bonita Noll.


On 24 Jan 1945, The Zanesville Signal reported:
Miss Bonita Noll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Noll of 824
Prospect Avenue and Miss Eileen Gerst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
E.W. Gerst of 1137 Lafayette street spent the week-end in Baltimore
Md. Both girls are employed in the FBI office at Washington.

A note on page 10 of The Zanesville Times Recorder on 11 Sep 1946 stated:
Miss Bonita Noll has returned to Washington D.C. after spending a
week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Noll of 824 Prospect Avenue.
Miss Betty Mattingly of Creamery road left Sunday for Washington
D.C. where she will visit Miss Bonita Noll and Miss Eileen Gerst. She
will also spend some time with relatives in that city.

Eileen Gerst and Bonita Noll are third cousins. Snilar notes appeared about Bonita Noll on 5 Sep 1947 and 10 May 1948, indicating she was still living in Washington, D.C. By 1949, she had moved back to Ohio. The following appeared in The Zanesville Times Recorder on 23 Dev 1949:
Miss Bonita Noll of Columbus and her brother, Raymond Noll, a
student at Ohio State University, will arrive Friday to spend the
Christmas week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Noll
of 824 Prospect avenue.

On 30 Oct 1952, the same paper reported:
Miss Bonita Noll of Columbus left Friday for a visit with
friends in Washington, D.C., and attended the wedding of Miss
Betty Bradman, which was solemnized Saturday. Miss Noll is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Noll of 824 Prospect avenue
and is employed in the Veterans Administration office in Columbus.
She made the trip to Washington by plane.

On 13 Jul 1957, the paper reported:
Miss Bonita Noll of Cleveland spent last week visiting her
mother, Mrs. A.N. Noll of 824 Prospect avenue.

Bonita Noll was living in Columbus Ohio at the time of her brother Robert's death in 2006. Her obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder, on September 29, 2008
COLUMBUS - Bonita Margaret Noll, 81, passed away on Thurs-
day, Sept. 25, 2008.
She trained in Washington, D C and worked in Cleveland many
years of dedicated service for the FBI. She loved art, music and
decorating her apartment.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Norma Noll; nieces and nephews,

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonsus and Elizabeth
Crum Noll; step-mother, Marie Noll, two brothers, Raymond and Robert;
a nephew, Mark Noll; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Rodgers Noll.
Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at
the Mount Olive Cemetery.

Alphonsus N. Noll

On June 24, 1917, Alphonsus Noll of 30 Hedgewood Ave., Zanesville, Ohio filled out a draft registration card. He gave his birthplace as "Rado, Ohio." He was a clerk at A. Loeb in Zanesville. Alphonsus was a short man of medium build with brown eyes and black hair.

In 1920, Alphonsus Noll lived with his brothers and widowed mother at 30 Hedgewood Ave., Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Alphonsus' occupation is difficult to read; he was a salesman of some sort.

An article titled "Numerous Bans are Published at St. Nicholas" in the Zanesville Times Recorder on September 30, 1924 announced the publishing of wedding bans at St. Nicholas Church included those of Alphonsus B. Noll of Hedgewood avenue and Miss Elizabeth Crum of Dexter City. Mr. Noll is identified as an employee of Moore, Swank & company.

In 1930, 35 year old Alphonsus N. Noll, owned a home worth $7,500 at 220 Prospect Avenue in Zanesville. He lived there with his wife Elizabeth (31) and children Bonita M. (3 yrs 8 months) and Raymond F. (1 yr 6 months). Alphonsus was the proprietor of a clothing store. Unlike many of their neighbors, the Noll family did not own a radio set.

Following the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Noll, in 1938, Alphonsus Noll married her younger sister, Marie.

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT
Estate of Alphonsus N. Noll Deceased. Marie A. Noll whose address is Zanesville, Ohio has been appointed and qualified as Executrix of the estate of Alphonsus N. Noll late of Muskingum County, Ohio, deceased.

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on August 14, 1940: Noll-Crum Wedding Of August 5 Is Just Announced Announcement is made of the wedding of Miss Marie Crum
of Caldwell and Alphonsus Noll of this city, which took place in
the Caldwell Catholic church on Monday, Aug. 5. Rev. Father
Louis Preston officiated and the attendants were Miss Bonita
Noll and Raymond Noll, both of this city. Following a breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Noll left for a trip along the
Great Lakes and they are now at home at 824 Prospect avenue. Mrs. Noll is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crum of
Caldell and is a member of the Catholic church there. Mr. Noll is a member of the St. Nicholas church here and he is
employed by the Metroploitan Insurance Co. in this city.

Mrs. A. N. Noll of 824 Prospect avenue has returned from
a visit with her sister, Mrs. Catherine Schwallie of Canton and
with her son, Raymond Noll and daughter, Miss Bonita Noll,
both of Cleveland.

From the “Chit-Chat” column of Zanesville Signal on 27 Dec 1957:
Miss Bonita Noll and her brother, Raymond Noll, both of
Cleveland are spending the week visiting their mother, Mrs.
A. N. Noll of 824 Prospect avenue. Last week end they visited
their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Noll and
children, Kathy, Michael and James Edward of Fort Wayne, Ind.


Marie Crum was a resident of Zanesville at the time of her death. She enjoyed playing Euchre (a card game).


William F. Noll

In 1920, 22 year old William Noll lived with his brothers and widowed mother at 30 Hedgewood Ave. in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. William worked as an electrician.

At the time of the 1930 census, William Noll (33) and his wife of two years, Elizabeth (25), lived in Zanesville with William's widowed mother. The family home at 30 Hedgewood Ave. was valued at $2500. Unlike most of their neighbors, the Nolls did not own a radio set. William was employed as a bookkeeper in an electrical store.


Elizabeth M. O'Handlon

At the time of the 1930 census, Elizabeth Noll (25) was a registered nurse. According to the census, her parents were born in Pennsylvania.

The following note was published in the Zanesville Signal on 31 Mar 1943:
Patriotic decorations prevailed this afternoon at the home of Mrs. William
Noll of Hedgewood avenue, when she entertained the members of the Victory
V-8 club. Euchre was played with prizes being awarded and lunch was served.

On 09 Mar 1943, The Zanesville Signal (pg 2) reported a meeting of Zanesville's registered nurses as part of the Civilian Defense program. Mrs. William Noll of 326 Hedgewood was among the participants.

Mrs. Noll was active in community affairs. Several notes in the Zanesville Times recorder in the late 1940s mention her participation in activities such as girl scout leader. She also drove a school bus, as recounted by an article on page 1 of the newspaper on 03 Mar 1953 (partially excerpted here):
HEAVY SNOW CAUSES SERIES OF TRAFFIC MISHAPS
... In one traffic accident, a St. Nicholas school bus overturned on the Frazeyburg
road Monday morning [02 Mar 1953], injuring one student slightly, Sheriff David
Weissert reported. The school bus, operated by Mrs. William Noll, 40, of 326
Hedgewood Ave, skidded on an icy curve and toppled on its side near the B.O. Taylor
farm. [...] The bus is used to transport children to and from the St. Nicholas grade
school. It is a 12-passenger vehicle.
The article mis-reported Elizabeth Noll's age.

Obituary:
Mrs. Elizabeth (O’Handlon) Noll, 70, of 326 Hedgewood avenue died at 12:20 a.m.
Monday [02 Jun 1975] in Good Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient
since May 23. She had been in failing health for the past 10 years.
Mrs. Noll was a registered nurse and graduated from the Good Samaritan School of
Nursing in 1927. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies
of Columbus, the auxiliary to the Knights of St. John, the Altar and Rosary Society, Purga-
torial Society and the Good Samaritan Alumni Association.
Surviving are her husband, William, two sons, Francis of Vale, Oregon and James of
Columbus; a daughter, Miss Margaret Ann Noll of the home; four grandchildren, and a
brother, Edward O’Handlon of Pinecrest drive, Dillon Falls.
The body was taken to the Bolin Funeral Home on Blue avenue where friends may call
from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The Rosary will be
recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Francis E. Noll

From the Zanesville Signal, 30 Apr 1953, pg 1:
Francis Noll, son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Noll, 326 Hedgewood avenue, will be
initiated May 25 into Gamma Sigma Delta, honor society for agriculture students at
Iowa State college. Seniors must be in the upper 15 percent of their class to be selected.
Noll is a senior in animal husbandry at Iowa State.

The obituary of Francis 'Frank' E. Noll appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on December 18, 2008

RAWLINS, Wyo. - Francis "Frank" E. Noll, of Rawlins, Wyo., passed away Dec. 14, 2008, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne Wyo., after a brief illness.
He was born June 3, 1931, in Zanesville, to William F. and Elizabeth O'Handlon Noll.
Frank graduated from St. Nicholas High School in Zanesville, received a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and received his master's degree from Colorado State University. The majority of his professional career was spent with the federal Bureau of Land Management at various locations throughout the West. Once Frank got a taste of the West, he never wanted to leave. He was the consummate sportsman and over his lifetime belonged to and participated in numerous sport shooting and other outdoor-oriented activities and organizations.
He is survived by his brother, James J. (Clara) Noll of Columbus; sister, Margaret Ann Noll of Zanesville; cousin, Caroline Wymer of Zanesville; several nephews and nieces; and several special friends including, Jim and Gay Seay of Rawlins, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Agnes Marie Noll (Sister Mary Elizabeth).
Funeral services are 10 a.m. today, Dec. 18, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 219 Pine St., Rawlins, Wyo.

Agnes Marie Noll

An article on page 1 of The Zanesville Times Recorder on 15 Feb 1947 listed twelve contestants of a popular local radio quiz program called Quizdown. Among the contestants was"
Agnes Marie Noll, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.William F. Noll of
326 Hedgewood avenue.

An artilcle titled "Tie For Honors" about the graduating class of Rosecrans high school in The Zanesville Times Recorder on 12 May 1953 stated in part:
Co-salutatorians are Agnes Marie Noll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William F. Noll of 326 Hedgewood avenue and Lawrence Kohler...
A photo of Agnes accompanied the article.

Agnes entered the convent as Sister Mary Elizabeth. She is not mentioned as a surviving child in her mother's 1975 obituary.
