Eunice Elizabeth Covey

Betty Covey Noll's obituary was published in the Marietta Times on Feb. 20, 2008:
WATERFORD - Eunice E. “Betty” Noll, 82, of Waterford died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born March 11, 1925, in Canton, Ohio, a daughter of Homer D. and Freda Heldman Covey. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and had been a member of the Marietta chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 36 years. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother who was very active in her children’s education and activities and was very active in all kinds of community activities. On Feb. 18, 1950, she married John George Noll, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1999. She is survived by one son, Francis Noll of Marietta; five daughters, Amilda Thompson and husband, Danny, of Gallipolis, Freda “Fritz” Neill and husband, Steven, of Waterford, Francine Noll of Waterford, Julie Jo Wright and husband, Albert, of Akron, and Shawna Burke and husband, Donald, of Waterford; 11 grandchildren, Skyler, Marcella, Jonah, Larry Jr., Nicole, Andrea, Wyatt, Tobi, Casey, Jacab, and Josie; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Fry of Marietta and Joanne Johnston and husband, Jim, of Texas; two sisters-in-law, Donna Mae Crum and husband, Richard, of Whipple, and Alma McCauley and husband, Jim, of Massillon; a brother-in-law, Bob Bryant of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, John George Burke; and two sisters, Donna June Bryant and Grace Ann James. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. A rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home, Beverly.

ELL - Nine Noble county men will leave Caldwell, Monday, Aug. 24
for Columbus, where they will report at Fort Hayes for induction into the
armed forces.

twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Michael of Caldwell, Route 4; Richard
Edwin Crum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crum of Caldwell, Route 6;

According to Mrs. Lucy Jennings, clerk of the local draft board, five
Noble county men will report for their pre-induction examinations of
Tuesday August 25. In this number will be several who have been
reclassified.

The following article appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) on Feb. 4, 1955
CALDWELL -- Cpl Richard E, Crum, son of Mr and Mrs C L
Crum of near Caldwell is attending the 11th Airborne Division
Advanced Airborne School, Ft. Campbell, Ky., where he will
receive extensive jump training for about three weeks. Cpl
Crum is a graduate of the 11th Airborne Division Airborn
school, and received his wings there. He is assigned to Tank
company, 100 Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne
stationed at Ft Campbell. Cpl Crum entered service in August
1953.

Clarence Leonard Crum

The following note appeared in The Zanesville Times Recorder on 29 Mar 1930:
HARRIETTSVILLE -- Miss Thelma Schoeppner and Clarence Crum were
Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crum of Carlisle.

In 1930, Clarence Crum was a boarder in the home of his first cousin once removed, Roman Noll and Roman's wife, Irene. They lived at 293 Coopermill Road in Zaneville, Muskingum County, Ohio. Clarence was a moulder in a radiator plant. The Nolls owned a radio set.

Clarence Crum's obituary:
CALDWELL - Clarence Leonard Crum, 66, of Route 6, died at 5 p.m.
Monday [11 Dec 1972] in front of the Landmark Farm Store here following
an apparent heart attack. Born Jan. 20, 1906, in Noble County, he was a
son of Charles and Caroline Hill Crum. He was a member of St. Stephen’s
Catholic Church and was a retired manager of the Landmark Farm Store,
Caldwell.
Surviving are his widow, Thelma Schoeppner Crum; two sons, Charles of
Belpre and Richard of Marietta; two daughters, Mrs. James (Shirley) Schockling
and Miss Rosemary Crum both of Columbus; one brother, Edwin L. Crum of
Route 1; one sister, Mrs. Edna Kastner of Louisville; and 11 grandchildren.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Rev.
Fr. Lawrence Luciana will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery,
Caldwell.
Friends may call anytime at the Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell. Rosary
will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.


Thelma Regina Schoeppner

After the death of her husband, Thema moved to Belpre, Washington Co., OH, and later to Pickerington, Fairfield Co., OH to be near her daughters.

PICKERINGTON — Thelma R. Crum, 92, of Pickerington
(formerly of Caldwell and Belpre) died Friday evening (Aug.
12, 2005) at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus,
Ohio. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10:30
a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call
from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in
Caldwell, where Christian Scripture services will be held
at 8 p.m.

Rosemary Crum of Pickerington; a daughter-in-law, Doris
Crum of Belpre; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
and two brothers, John and Edward Schoeppner.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug.
15, at the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
Aug. 16, 2005, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.

In 1920, 23 year old Clemence G. Rupple lived with his wife Sophia (23) on a rented farm in Enoch Twp, Noble Co., Ohio. There were no children in the home.

At the time of the 1930 census, 33 year old Clem Ruffle lived with his wife Sophia (33) on a farm they owned (value $1000) in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Irene (8) and Gerald (1 yr 2 mos). Irene attended school. According to the census, Clem was 21 and Sophia was 22 when married. The family owned a radio.

RUPPEL FAMILY REUNION
The third annual reunion of the Ruppel families was held Sunday at the home of
Clem Ruppel near Caldwell. At noon a basket dinner was enjoyed and the afternoon
was spent in pitching horseshoes, playing ball and other diversions. At a short business
session the following officers were elected.
Lewis Crum, president, Mrs. Rosa Kraft, secretary-treasurer, succeeding Raymond
Lorey and Miss Irene Ruppel, all of Caldwell. The next reunion was set for the third
Sunday in August, 1939.
