Henry Urban Schott

On June 5, 1917, 23 year old Henry Urban Schott of Dexter City, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card he was born on November 22, 1893 in Harriettsville, Ohio, was married and had a child. His occupation is given as farming and tobacco mer[chant]. His physical description is given as medium height and build, with brown eyes and light hair.

In 1920, 26 year old farmer Henry Schott lived with his wife Laura (24) and children, Pauline (3 yrs 4 mos), Paul (2 yrs 1 mo) and Delores (5 mos) on a rented farm in Elk Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Also living with them as a renter was Henry's brother, Charley Schott (30). All members of the household were born in Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schatt and daughters Pauline, Delores, Beulah, Mildred and Betty and sons Paul and Robert attended the annual Schott reunion on Sunday, July 30, 1933 at the fairgrounds in Marietta, Ohio. See notes of Jacob Schott for a complete list of attendees.

SCHOTT-ZWICK REUNION HELD AT CALDWELL The first annual Schott-Zwick reunion was held recently at
the Knights of Columbus hall in Caldwell. A pot-luck dinner
was served. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott, Marilyn
Schott and Tim Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schott and sons
Dickie, Donnie and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Archer and

elected for next year were President, Mrs. Mildred Ackley, vice
president, Mrs. Dolores Archer, secretary-treasurer, Marilyn Schott. The oldest person was John Biedenbach of Mechanicsville, Iowa,
and the youngest member was Steven Lee Schott, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Schott. The 1959 reunion will be held the second Sunday in August.


The following article appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on August 4, 1939: SCHOTT REUNION On Sunday, July 30, the eighth annual Schott reunion
was held in Civitan park, Marietta with a large attendance
present. Following dinner election of officers was held
and the following officers were named: Henry U. Schott,
Caldwell, president; Henry M. Schaad, Waterford, vice
president; N. F. Schott, Caldwell, secretary-treasurer. It
was decided to hold the 1940 reunion on the last Sunday
in July at Caldwell on the Noble county fairground.

In Nov. 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott and sons Paul and Robert of Caldwell attended a party to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Herman Baker and Amelia Schott Baker (Henry's sisterr).

Laura Edna Zwick

Obituary:
Mrs. Laura Edna Schott, 85, of Caldwell Route 6, died at noon Wednesday
[7 Jan 1981] at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Mrs. Schott was born Dec. 18, 1895, in Sycamore Valley, Monroe County,
daughter of Joseph and Margaret Burkhart Zwick. She was a member of St.
Stephen’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Club of the church.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Schott of the home; one son, Paul, of
Caldwell Route 6, six daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Pauline) Schafer of Caldwell
Route 6, Mrs. David (Delores) Fazakas of Caldwell, Mrs. Frank (Beulah)
Cardarelli of Stowe, Ohio, Mrs. James (Mildred) Ackley of Caldwell Route 6,
Mrs. John (Betty) Oertle of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Time (Marilyn) Fleming
of Lander, Wyo.; two brothers, Lester and Claude Zwick both of Lower Salem
Route 2, Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hanna of Braddock, Pa., and Mrs. Paul (Lorene)
Huffman of Harriettsville, Ohio; 46 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s
Church in Caldwell, Msgr. Lawrence Luciana officiating, with burial in Mount
Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Estadt Funeral
Home in Caldwell, where rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.


Charles Edward Warner

Until his marriage, Charles Warner lived on the family farm in Stock Twp., Noble Co., OH with his parents and siblings. His occupation was "farn laborer."

In 1930, Chas. E. Warner (50) and his wife Minnie K. (49) rented a farm in Stock Twp. Living with them were their children Harold J. (18) and Mildred C. (13). Only Mildred attended school. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to R. E. Mallett and J. L. Smith.

Charles Warner's obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on December 20, 1934.
RESIDENT OF BERNE IS DEAD AT ATHENS
SUMMERFIELD, O. Dec. 20 -- Charles Warner, 65, life
long and highly estimed (sic) resident, Berne community,
passed away Wednesday morning at the state hospital,
Athens, where he was removed for treatment a week ago.
The body was brought to his late home and while all
arrangements are incomplete, services will be held in St.
Michael's R.C. church by his pastor Rev. Fr. Nichols and
burial made in church cemetery.
Deceased was a son of Mrs. Emily Warner and the late
Andrew Warner and is survived in addition to his mother by
his widow Minnie and two children, Mildred and Harold, of
the home and the following brothers and sisters, Fred and
Frank Warner, Mrs. Nick Schuhl (Schehl) and Mrs. Lawrence
Malett, Berne, and Mrs. Maggie Miller, Harriettsville.


Catharina Philomena Sorg

Records conflict on year of birth: 1881 (Snider, birth announcement) vs. 1882 (1900 census). By 1900, 18 year old Mina was no longer attending school.

Birth, to Eugene and Catherine Sorg, March 17th, a daughter.

Obituary from the Zanesville Times Recorder, 12 Aug 1957
SUMMERFIELD - Mrs. Minnie Warner, 76, of Route 1 widow
of Charles Warner, died Saturday [10 Aug 1957] at a Cambridge hos-
pital where she had been a patient the past six weeks.
The body was removed to the Brubach Funeral Home at Sum-
merfield where the Rosary will be recited Monday evening.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o’clock Tuesday
morning at the St. Michael Catholic Church at Carlisle. Burial will be
in the church cemetery.


Harold E. Warner

Obituary:
SUMMERFIELD - Harold E. Warner, 77, of Caldwell Route 1 (Carlisle), died at
2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 1989 at Guernsey Memorial Hospital, Cambridge. A
member of Road Fork Baptist Church, he was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Noble County,
son of the late Charles and Minnie (Sorg) Warner.
Surviving is one sister, Mildred Schehl of Caldwell, Route 1. Friends may call from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brubach-Watters Funeral Home in Summerfield where
services will be 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Stan Kashuba and Monsignor Frank Baudo
will officiate and burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Carlisle.


Clarence Edward Smithberger

Clarence Smithberger and Clara Hohman met each other at one of the dances sponsored by the churches in the area.

In 1930, 26 year old farmer Clarnec E. Smithberger lived with his wife Clara B. (24) and daughter Rita M. (1 yr 7 mos) on a farm they owned (value ($500) in Elk Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The family owned a radio set. Listed immediately after Clarence's family are his parents, Edward W. and Anna M. Also listed on the census sheet with Clarence was his uncle William Smithberger and William's wife Katherine and Clarence's 2nd cousin Alexander Smithberger and his family.

C. E. SMITHBURGER
Clarence E. (Sky) Smithburger, Sr., 65, of Fulda, Noble County, died at 5:40 p.m
Monday (Sept 16) in Good Samaritan Hospital ending a nine-month illness. Mr.
Smithburger was born Jun 1, 1903 at Harriettsville, a son of Edward and Anna
Burkhart Smithburger. He was a retired mechanic, trustee for Enoch Township in
Noble County, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Holy Name
Society of Fulda.
Surviving are his widow, the former Clara Hohman, three daughters, Mrs. Roger
(Rita) Eppley of 936 Laurel Avenue, Mrs. Ronald (Annette) Schafer of 1192 Lakeview
Drive and Miss Elaine Smithburger of Newark, N.J.; two sons, Clarence Jr. of Pickerington
and Robert of Pataskala; 13 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J.W. Porter of Glasgow, Ky.
Two brothers, Orlando and Leo, are deceased.
The body was taken to Estadt Funeral Home in Caldwell where friends may call and
where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Thursday in St. Mary's Church with burial in the church cemetery.


Clara Barbara Hohman

In 1925, Clara lived with her brother Albert in Akron and helped out the family when Albert's daughter Martha was born. She lived in Akron for three years and was employed doing housework. Clara Hohman Smithberger lived at Caldwell Route 1 in 1963.
