Fredrick Miller

In 1900, Fred Meller (Miller) (26 - Dec 1874) lived with his wife of 1 year, Mary (20 - July 1879) in an unnumbered home they owned on Stokes Ave., North Braddock, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. Living with them was Fred's brother Felix (21 - Feb 1879). Fred worked as a laborer and Felix as a teamster. All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Fred's and Mary's parents.

In 1910, Frederick Miller lived in a home that he owned at 421 Stokes Ave. in North Braddock, PA with his 30 year old wife Mary and their four daughters: Verna (9), Elenor (7), Lucy (3), and Mabel (6 months). Verna and Elenor attended school that year. Fred Miller was born in Ohio, as were his parents. He was employed as a blacksmith. Also living with the family were Fred's brothers-in-law, Edward (23) and Ernest (21) Dimmerling.

In 1920, widower Fred Miller had moved a few doors away to a house he owned at 407 Stokes Ave., where he lived with his children Verna (19), Eleanor (17), Lucy (12) Mabel (10), Howard (6), and Dolores (3 yrs 2 mos). Also living in the household as a boarder was unmarried, Ohio born, Eleanor Miller (17). [The relationship between Fred Miller and Ohio born Eleanor Miller, if any, is unknown at this time] Fred worked as a blacksmith forger in a shop, his daughter Eleanor as as stenographer and Ohio born Eleanor as a clerk in an office. Lucy, Mable and Howard attended school. Fred was born in Ohio and the children in Pennsylvania.

By the time of the 1930 census, widower Fred Miller was still at 407 Stokes Ave., where he lived with his children Mabel (20), Howard (17), and Dolores (14). Only Dolores attended school Fred was retired.

In later years, Fred said that he'd like to marry widow Laura Singer Schweinberg (from neighboring Seddon Ave.), but she wasn't interested.

Mary Rosa Dimmerling

This child never appears in the census with her parents. There were no children living with Sebastian and Rachel Dimmerling in 1880. Eleven month old Mary Dimmerling lived in the household of her father's brother, August Dimmerling Jr.. She is identified as his niece. Sebastian and August lived three households apart in the 1880 census.

There is no 1890 census. Twenty-one year old Mary Rosa Dimmerling is not listed with her parents and siblings in the 1900 census. The entry for her mother indicates that all eight of Rachel's children were still living at the time of the census.

In 1910, Rosa's brother's Edward and Ernest lived in North Braddock, PA in the home of their sister, 30 year old Mary Miller, wife of Frederick Miller. Mary's age would put her birth date at 1879 or 1880. Since all of the other Dimmerling sisters were married to other men in 1910, it is assumed that "Mary" and "Rosa" are the same person. This needs to be verified or refuted by additional research.

According to the census, Mary Dimmerling Miller had given birth to five children before 1910; four of whom were still living.

Mary Dimmerling Miller is buried near her sister, M. Elizabeth Dimmerling Hohman, and her brothers, Urban and Edward Dimmerling. The year of death on the tombstone is difficult to read.

Lucy Miller

Lucy Miller died fairly young. She never married.

Mabel Miller

Mabel Miller and her cousin Gertrude Hohman were good freinds. In 1930, 20 year old Mabel Miller lived with her widowed father and younger siblings on Stokes Ave., North Braddock, Allegheny County, PA. She worked as a bookkeeper in a bank.

Howard Miller

In 1930, 17 year old Howard Miller lived with his widowed father and sisters on Stokes Ave., Braddock, Allegheny County, PA. He was not employed at the time of the census.
