Kenneth Weisent

Obituary:
Kenneth H. Weisent, 66, beloved husband and
father passed away January 4, 2005, due to an accident
while on vacation with his family in Colorado. A former
Canton, OH resident, he had moved to Deming, NM three
years ago. Ken was born on June 6, 1938 in Noble County,
OH, the youngest of nine children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella
(Michel) and Walter Weisent and a sister, Helen and her
spouse, Carl Smith, a brother-in-law, Joseph Yontz, and a
sister-in-law, Darlis. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary
(Wiandt); and four children, Kevin (35), Amy (33), and Charles
(26) and wife Priscilla, all of Albuquerque, NM and Walter
(29) of Canton, OH. Ken is also survived by four sisters, Bertha
Smith, Violet Yontz, Eileen (Vincent) Kress, Ardella (Donald)
Schrader; three brothers, Ruben, Carl (Judy), and Clemence.
Ken was proud of his Army service (1961-63), was a
member of the American Legion, an active member of Holy
Family Catholic Church in Deming, NM and had attained 4th
degree in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his animals,
building things, the outdoors and travel. He took his wife to
Hawaii in Oct 2004 to celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary.
Ken will be sorely missed.
There will be a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday,
January 15, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Deming, NM.
Family and friends will be received in the church hall after Mass.

Obituary:

LEO C. KRESS DIES
Leo C. Kress, 50, died at home on Washington ave.,
at 5:30 Tuesday morning. Heart Trouble was the cause of his
death. Mr. Kress was born at Caldwell, Ohio and moved his
family to Louisville four years ago. He is survived by his widow,
and the following children: Osseline, Delmer, Alice, Joseph,
and Vincent, also four brothers survive: Henry, John, Louis
and Gerhard, of Caldwell. Funeral services were held this
morning at 9:00 from St. Louis Church and were conducted
by Rev. N. P. Weckel. Burial in St. Louis cemetery.

Amelia Warner

sIn 1900, 21 year old unmarried Mollie Warner lived with her widowed brother, Joseph, and his son on his farm in Lodi Twp., Athens County, Ohio. Mollie's occupation is listed as "servant." Her parents and siblings lived next door.

Obituary:
MRS. MOLLIE KRESS
At the age of 86, Mrs. Kress of West Broad st and a resident of Louisville
for 41 years, succumbed on Nov. 4, concluding an extended illness. She was
a native of Fulda, Ohio.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Roberson of Louisville and Mrs.
Jack Larson of California; three sons, Delmar, Joseph, and Vincent of Louisville;
a sister, Mrs. Anna Bishop of Louisville; a brother, Edward Warner of Alliance;
14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary
Society, and the Columbus Woman’s Club of Louisville. Saturday rites were in
St. Louis Catholic Church and burial was in in the church cemetery. Paquelet
Funeral Home was in charge.


Ellen Elizabeth Kress

Obert E. Tuttle

Obituary:
Obert “Obie” E. Tuttle, age 88, of Canton, formerly of
Louisville, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Mercy
Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1917, in Cald-
well, OH, to the late Charles and Dessie (Wicham) Tuttle.
Obie retired from the Sanitary Milk Company and was
a retired custodian for Fairhope Elementary School. He
was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, AARP and
the School Employee Retirees of Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Luella
Warner Tuttle in 1999, his sister, Erma Baker and one
grandson, Jeffrey Tuttle.
Survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Joan
Weisent of North Canton, Linda Gutierrez, Karen Olson,
both of East Canton, Julie and Bill Szekely of Alliance;
three sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Jane
Tuttle of Robertsville, Fred and Gail Tuttle of Massillon
and Tom Tuttle of Canton; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-
grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m.
Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville with Fr.
Ken Miller officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday
evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home. Interment in St.
Louis Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.


Francis Otto Weisent

On June 5, 1917, 25 year old, unmarried, Francis Otto Weisent (dob: October 8, 1891; pob: Caldwell, Ohio) of 176 W. Evergreen, Youngstown, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registrtion card he was employed by Republic Iron & Steel in Youngstown. His physical description is given as medium height; slender build; blue eyes and light hair.

In 1920, 27 year old Francis Weisent lived with his wife Marie (25) in a mortgaged home at 344 West Chalmers Avenue in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. Living with them was their daughter Ruth (1 yr 7 mos). All members of the household were born in Ohio. Francis worked as an accountant in a steel mill. Living 2 streets away on West Delason Ave. was Francis' brother John.

In 1930, 39 year old Frank Weisent lived with his wife Marie (36) in a home they owned (value $8500) at 588 Warren(?) Ave. in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Ruth (12), Vera (10), and Raymond (6). All of the children attended school. All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Frank's parents and Marie's father. Marie's mother was born in Pennsylvania. Frank worked as an inusrance manager. The family owned a radio.

In 1930, Leo S. Punches (37) lived as a roomer in the home of George and Hilda Mader at 1425 11th Street NW in Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. Leo was born in Ohio as were his parents. Leo is listed as single on the census although his wife of about 10 months, Ida Weisent Punches, had died in 1927. Leo worked as a proprietor of a jewelry manufacturer (jewelry store?).

Leo's death certificate lists him as a widower.


Ida Bernetta Weisent

In 1920, 26 year old Ida Weisent lived with the family of her brother, Bernard, in Canton, Ohio. Ida worked as a furrier in a retail store.

Ida died on her honeymoon. Her obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on May 28, 1927. ACCIDENT VICTIM BURIED SATURDAY AT FULDA, OHIO Caldwell, O., May 28 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Leo S. Punches,
who was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Saturday night,
near Mansfield, Mo., were held from the Catholic church at Fulda this
morning at 9:00 o'clock, conducted by rev. J. B. Oeink, and burial
was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Punches, who was Miss Ida Weisant, before her marriage
in Canton last February, with her husband was returning from their
honeymoon trip to California and other points in the west when the
fatal accident occurred. They were driving on a dirt road when a
child ran out directly in front of the machine and in trying to avoid
striking the child and another machine coming in the opposite dir-
ection, the car went over a five foot embankment. Mrs. Punches
suffered a broken rib which punctured the left lung and she died
on the way to a hospital. Mrs. Punches was born and raised in
Noble county and was well and favorably known here.

In 1920, 30 year old Anthony N. Haren lived with his wife Mary O. (28) in a mortgaged home they owned at 159 Oak Park Drive in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. A portion of the home was rented to Alfred and Bonnie Davis. Anthony and Mary were both born in Ohio as were their parents. Anthony worked as an inspector for a rubber company.

At the time of the 1930 census, 40 year old Anthony Haren and his wife Mary (38) owned a home worth $7000 at 159 Oak Park Drive in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. Living with them was their son Ralph (7). Ralph attended school. Based on census data, Anthony and Mary had been married for about 15 years. A portion of the home was rented to Francis and Helen Sullivan and to Robert and Margaret English. Anthony and Mary were both born in Ohio as was their son and their parents. Anthony worked as an laborer for a rubber company,

Mary O. Weisent

Source Delores Snider lists two similarly named daughters for Joseph and Mary Ann (Schott) Weisent:
Maria -- born 8 Oct 1891, no spouse, twin sister of Francis
Mary -- no birth date, wife of A.M. Haren

I believe that these two are the same person and have listed them accordingly. The 1910 census lists twin 18 year old children of Joseph amd Mary Weisent: Mary and Otto F.

Mary's grandson John Haren states that Mary left the family farm after she turned 18 to work as a seamstress in Akron, Ohio.

Wedding announcement (16 Oct 1919, The Louisville Herald, pg 1, col. 4)
A double wedding ceremony was performed at St. John’s Catholic Church at
Canton at eight o clock Tuesday morning. The contracting parties were Miss Mary
Weisant (sic), a. sister of U. W. Weisent of Louisville, and Anthony Haren, and
Miss Laura Heppner and John Shockling, of Louisville. The brides wore blue suits
and the couples were attended upon each other. After a wedding breakfast was served
they went to Cald­well, Ohio, the former home of all, where they will visit for some
time with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Haren will make their home in Akron, where Mr. Haren is a rubber
worker, and Mr. and Mrs. Shockling will locate in Louisville, they having recently
purchased the Geis property on North Mill street. The young people were given
numerous gifts and their friends extend congratulations and best wishes.
The brides Laura Heppner and Mary Weisent were first cousins.
