Wilbert E. McLaughlin

Lived in North Braddock. Owned grocery store. Moved to Monroeville, PA. Worked for Sears Roebuck. As a young man, Wilbert, who was the best looking one in the family and had a beautiful head of hair, used a hair product that caused all his hair to fall out permanently. He was completely bald from them on.

Worked in Monroeville in the mall.


Ferdinand Stark

In 1880, Ferdinand Stark (12) lived in the household of his uncle Ferdinand Hohman in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio. The census indicates that Ferdinand did not attend school that year, although his younger cousins did.

At the time of the 1900 census, Ferdinand Stark (30) rented a home at 112 Camp Ave. in Braddock, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania with Mary (31) and daughter Minnie. Also living in the house were two men from Ohio: Edward (27) and John Blake. John's age and birthdate were listed as "unknown" in the census. Ferdinand Stark worked in a mill at the time of the census. Many Noble County natives lived nearby.

By 1910, 41 year old Ferdinand Starke (Stark) lived with his wife of 15 years, Mary (41) were renting a home at 427 June Way in Braddock. Living with them were their children Minnie (14), Annie (7), Edwin (4), Lillian (2) and Joseph (2 mos). Also living with them was unmarried Mary Kress (26). (The census indicates that Mary Kress is Ferdinand Stark's cousin, but no blood relationship between Mary Kress and the Stark family has been documented.) Minnie and Annie attended school. Ferdinand worked as a laborer in a steel mill and Mary Kress worked as a tailoress in a tailor shop. Ferdinand and Mary were born in Ohio as were Mary's parents and Ferdinand's mother. Ferdinand's father's birth place is listed as unknown. the children were all born in Pennsylvania. Mary Kress and her parents were born in Ohio. According to the census, Mary Stark had given birth to 7 children, 5 of whom were sill living. In the census index, the name is mispelled "Strake."

In 1920, 50 year old Ferdinand Stark lived in a rented house at 429 June Way in Braddock with his wife Mary (49) and children Anna (17), Edwin (14), Lillian (12), Joseph (9 yrs 11 mos), and William (7). The youngest four children attended school. Ferdinand and Mary were born in Ohio, and the children were all born in Pennsylvania. Ferdinand was employed as a steel worker.

In 1930, 61 year old widower Ferdinand Stark (Stock) lived in the rented home (rent $30/mo) of his son Edwin F. (24) at 425 June Way, Braddock, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. Living with them were Edwin's wife Ida (19) and their son Edwin P. (1 yr 6 mos) and Ferdinand's son Joseph G. (20). Also renting at the same address were the families of George Canfiled and Niles Canfield. Ferdinand was born in Ohio, his father in Germany and his mother in Pennsylvania. The remainder of the household was born in Pennsylvania. Ferdinand was employed as a laborer in a steel mill. The household owned a radio set.

Ferdinand was a resident at the Knights of St. George Home in Wellsburg, W. Virginia at the time of his death in 1950 or 1951.


Mary Elizabeth Miller

By 1900, Mary Stark had given birth to three children, only one of whom was still living at the time of the census. According to the 1920 census, Mary and her parents were born in Ohio.


Joseph G. Stark

At the time of the 1930 census, 20 year old Joseph Stark lived with the family of his brother, Edwin, in Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Joseph worked as a deliveryman for a grocery store.

Joseph Henry Schaad

Joseph Henry Schott does not appear with the rest of the family in the 1860 census. He and two of his siblings, George and Mary, can be found in the home of Joseph and Maria Schaub in Enoch Twp.

In 1880, Joseph (25) and Elizabeth Schaad lived in Watertown, Washington County, Ohio, with their daughter, Lizzie A., who was born in March of that year. Joseph was born in Ohio, his father was born in Prussia and his mother was born in Bavaria. Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania and her parents were born in Prussia.

On June 4, 1900, a census-taker visted the farm of Joseph Schaad in Watertown Twp. Living in the home were Joseph (47), his wife Elizabeth (41) and children William (18), Philimena (15), Andrew (11), Maggie (8), and Ida (5). Only Andrew and Maggie attended school. Also living with the family was Joseph's 89 year old father Jacob. Joseph and Elizabeth indicated that they had been married for 21 years. Six of Elizabeth's 8 children were alive in 1900. Joseph was born in Ohio and Elizabeth in Pennsylvania. There parents were born in German. All of the children were born in Ohio. All members of the household could read, write and speak English.

In 1910, Joseph H. Schaad (51) and his wife Elizabeth P. (51) owned a farm in Watertown. They lived there with their children Andrew H. (21), Margaret B. (18) and Ida C. (15). Joseph and Elizabeth had been married for 30 years and 6 of Elizabeth's 8 children were still living. Only Ida attended school the previous year. All members of the household could both read and write

In 1920, 67 year old farmer Joseph Schott lived with his wife Elizabeth (61) on a farm they owned in Watertown, Washington Co., Ohio. Joseph was born in Ohio, Elizabeth in Pennsylvania, and their parents in Germany. Living with Joseph and Elizabeth was their son Andrew H. (31), Andrew's wife, Mary Elizabeth (23) and their son, Howard L. (4 mos.).

According to his death certificate, Joseph Schaad was born on January 29, 1853 to Jacob Schaad. At the time of his death in Watertown Twp., Ohio on July 21, 1928 he was widowed (wife's name was Elizabeth Schaad). The cause of death is listed as endocarditis and a contributory factor is listed as senility. He was burined on July 24, 1928 in St. John the Baptist Cemetery [Churchtown, Ohio].


Elizabeth P. Thieman

Elizabeth's parents were natives of Prussia, according to the 1880 census. Her age, and month and year of birth are difficult to read in the 1900 census. The year might be 1857.

According to the 1900 and 1910 census, Elizabeth had given birth to eight children, six of whom were still living at the time of the census.

According to her death certificate, Elizabeth Schaad was born January 22, 1859 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Frank Thieman and Mary Anders. At the time of her death on September 25, 1925 at Tremont Hospital, Marietta, Washington Co., Ohio she lived in Churchtown, Ohio. The cause of death is given as "burns and shock, accidentilly incurred." She was buried on September 27, 1925 in Churchtown, Ohio. The nature of the accident that caused the burns leading to Elizabeth's death is not known. The accident occurred two days before her death.


Margaret Barbara Schaad

At the time of the 1920 census, 28 year old Margaret Sachaad worked in the home of George and Jessie Hagg at 212 Maple Ave., in Edgewood, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. According to the census, Margaret was born in Ohio as was her father, her mother was born in Pennsylvania.

In 1930, Margaret Schaad (38) worked as a servant in the home of Wyn and Marjorie Morris at 125 Beech Street in Edgewood, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, This census agrees with the 1920 census, stating that Margaret was born in Ohio as was her father. Her mother was born in Pennsylvania.


William F. Scheetz

In 1900, 40 year old farmer William Sheets lived on a mortgaged farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 34 year old wife Anna and seven children: Frank (13), Leo (12), Ferdinand (10), Mary (6), Lizzie (4), Edna (3), and Rosa (1). The oldest three children attended school... Frank and Leo for six months, and Ferdiannd for three. William Scheetz was not able to read and write.

In 1910, 49 year old farmer William F. Sheets (sic) and his wife Barbara (45) owned a farm they owned in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Frank (22), Leo J. (21), Ferdinand (19), Mary (17), Lizzie (16), Emma (12), Gertrude (11), Tillie (9), Clara (7), Louise (2), and Agnes (1). Emma, Gertrude, Tillie and Clara attended school. Frank worked as a brick mason (building), Leo as a carpenter (house building), and Ferdinand as a teamster (lumber yard). All members of the household were born in Ohio as were William's father and both of Barbara's parents. Barbara's mother was born in Germany.

William's great grandson Raymond Nelson Tomlinson states that William Scheetz died seven months before the birth of his eighteenth child (Enda Anna Scheetz) in Youngstown, Ohio.


Barbara Anna Nau

Records conflict: Delores Snider and indicates Barbara was baptized in Ohio. Family Search states that Barbara was born in Hesse, (Germany). Census records show she was born in Ohio.

According to the 1910 Census, Barbara Nau Scheetz had given birth to 16 children, 12 of whom were still living, although only 11 children are listed with her and William on the census. Missing are Rose and Adam who died in 1898, and Albert who died in 1900. Also missing were Emma and Cora both of whom, based on available information, were still lving in 1910.

Family legend states that Barbara Anna Nau Scheetz had eighteen children. Somewhere in the later births were two sets of twins; only one of each pair survived. The names, dates, and sexes of the twins who did not survive have been lost.

By June 1900, Barbara Nau Scheetz had given birth to nine children, seven of whom were still living according to the census. The two children who did not survive were Rose and Adam. Barbara's great grandson Raymond Nelson Tomlinson states that Barbara had a total of 18 children, of whom Gertrude Rose was number 13. The last two were born in Youngstown, Ohio.

In 1930, 63 year old widow Barbara Scheetz lived in a home that she owned at 309 Schenley Ave., Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. Barbara's home was worth $3800; she owned a radio set. She rented out a portion of the home to 32 year old truck driver Robert German. Barbara's daughter-in-law, Emma (Alderhoven) Scheetz (widow of Frank J. Scheetz) lived next door.

ATTEND FUNERAL
Several from this community attended the funeral of Mrs.
Barbara Scheetz, 72, held at Youngstown Wednesday morning.
Interment was there. Mrs. Scheetz was a native of the Fulda com-
munity and a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Blake Nau. Frank
Nau of Caldwell, and Mrs. HArry Miller are brother and sister.

Rose Maria Scheetz is not listed with her parents and sibling in the 1900 census. She would have been 10 years old at the time.

Roman George Nau

In 1900, 12 year old Roman lived with his parents and two older siblings on the family farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio. He attended school for 10 months during the previous year. When he was 19, Roman Nau inherited his father's farm.

On June 5, 1917, Roman G. Nau (29 - dob Oct. 11, 1887; pob Noble Co., Ohio) of 527 W. Myrtle, Youngstown, Ohio registered for the military darft. He was married and had 2 children. His occupation was given as carpenter and his employer as Leonard Schoeppner, Youngstown, Ohio. His physical description is given as: short, medium build, brown eyes and dark brown hair.

In 1920, Roman Nau (32) lived with his wife Amelia (27) in a mortgaged home they owned at 922 Arlington Ave. SW, Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Elmer (7), Bernard (4), Rosalia (2) and James (2 mos). Roman worked as a carpenter for a contractor. Elmer attended school. All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Roman's mother and both of Amelia's parents. Roman's father was born in Germany.

In 1930, Roman G. Nau (42) lived with his wife Amelia (37) in a home they owned (value $3500) at 2410 Indiana Way NE, Canton, Stark Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Elmer (17), Bernard (14), Rosalia (12), Paul (10), Donald (7), Irine (4), and Ralph (1). Roman worked as a carpenter for a builder. Bernard, Rosalia, Paul, donald and Irine attended school. All members of the household were born in Ohio as were both Roman's and Amelia's parents. The family owned a radio set.


Roman Nau

On the death certificate, the Nau child is unnamed.


Robert Anthony Nau

Robert Nau, a student at St. Paul's School, collapsed and died playing basketball. Other conditions listed on his death certificate were "chr endocarditis with incompetecy of mitral valve."
