Gertrude Nauer

Engagement announcement:
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nauer of Lewisville are announcing the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Gertrude,
to Richard Nau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nau of Dexter City.
The wedding will take place August 25 in St. Joseph’s Catholic church
at Burkhart with the Rev. Joseph Finan officiating.
The bride-elect is employed at the Essex Wire division of the Chicago
Transformer company. Mr. Nau is employed by Crock and Schafer,
conttractors and builders.
Miss Nauer’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Michel
of Canton, will be the only attendants for the marriage. The wedding
dinner will be held at the home of the bride-elect’s parents, and a dance
in St. Joseph’s hall will be given in the evening.


Thomas Nau

Attended Fulda School in the late 1950s and early 60s. Entered the priesthood.

Thelma Clara Yontz

Obituary:

Thelma C. Hohman, age 76, of Canton, died Friday morning in the Han- over House after an extended illness. Born in Lewisville, OH, she had been a Canton resident since 1947. She retired in 1985 from the J.C. Penney Co. after 19 years of service. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, St. Joan of Arc Altar Rosary Society, St. Joan of Arc Sewing Club and the A.A.R.P.
Survived by her husband, Charles W. Hohman; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and David Phillips of Canton, Arlene Watters of Coroapolis, PA and Joyce and Gary Isler of North Canton; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Polly Hohman of Copley, OH; seven grandchildren, Mark Wootton, Lori Laghaeian, Jenny Shaver, Jason Watters, Jessica Hohman, and Chad and Kari Isler; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Laghaeian and Ashley Wootton; and four brothers, Joe Yontz of North Canton, Ray Yontz of Jerusalem, OH, Dale Yontz of Woodsfield, OH and Ronald Yontz of Canton. Preceded in death by two sisters, Leona and Bertha Michel; and a son-in-law, Michael Watters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc of Arc Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas P. Dyer as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice


Edna Marie Hohman

Edna Hohman was a contestant in the "Miss Noble County" beauty parade held in the Roxy Theater in Caldwell on 22 Jul 1938. According to the Zanesville Times Recorder (pg 7, 23 Jul 1938) between eight and nine hundred people crowded the theater to watch the pageant, which was won by Thelma Smithberger.

Edna was living in North Canton, OH in 2002.

Obituary:
Edna M. Archer, age 81 of North Canton, passed away Monday,
April 5, 2004 in St. Lukes Lutheran Community following an extended
illness. Edna was born July 23, 1922 in Caldwell to the late Emil and Cora (Schott) Hohman. She was a former food service employee for
the J.T. Nist Geriatric Care Center in Louisville. Edna loved working
in her yard and was very proud of how it looked. She was a member
of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville.

Edna is survived by daughters, Shirley Manfull of Jackson Town-
ship, Cathy (Lonnie) Schrader of North Canton and Brenda Paris of
Canton; a son, Dan (Eva) Archer of Louisville; a sister, Edith Schramm
of Zanesville; brothers, Charles Hohman of Canton and Herman
Hohman of Caldwell; grandchildren, Lisa Manfull, Michael Manfull,
Timothy Schrader, Christina Schrader, Steven Schrader, Scott Paris,
Sean Paris and Rachel Archer. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Cletus Archer who passed away November 14, 1987; sister, Lucy
Hildebrand and brothers, Morris and James Hohman.

Graveside services for Edna will be conducted Thursday at 10:30
a.m. in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday
evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville.


Herman Joseph Hohman

Herman J. Hohman, age 86 of Caldwell, OH passed away Monday, January 23rd, 2012 at Summit Acres Nursing Home & Rehab in Caldwell, OH. He was born August 8th, 1925 in Noble County, OH a son of the late Emil and Cora Schott Hohman. Herman served and protected his nation in WWII. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division which fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Caldwell and the Caldwell VFW Post #4721. He retired from the former Dana Manufacturing Plant in Caldwell after 37 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and spending time doing yard work. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 Brothers Morris Hohman and Jim Hohman; 2 Sisters Lucy Hildebrand and Edna Archer. He will be missed by his wife Edith Archer Hohman of the home, whom he married November 15th, 1955; 2 Sons Richard J. Hohman and Donnie (Julie) Hohman all of Caldwell; Daughter Martha (Dave) Morland of Zanesville, OH; 5 Grandchildren Josh Hohman, Megan Hohman, Jeremy Morland, Sean Morland and Paula Hohman; 1 Great Granddaughter Kali Astorga; 1 Brother Charles Hohman of Canton, OH; 1 Sister Edith Schramm of Zanesville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with a Vigil Service held at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 26th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Father Chester Pabin serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.


Robert Morris Hohman

Obituary:
Robert M. Hohman, age 39, of 7754 Nickelplate Ave. NE, Louisville, passed away at Aultman Hospital Friday evening [26 Oct 1984] following an extended illness. He was born in North Canton Dec 24 1944 and lived in the Louisville area all his life. He was an employee of the Hoover Company where he worked for 16 years.
He is survived by his parents Morris and Delores Hill Hohman of Louisville; one son, Robert M. Hohman Jr., and one daughter, Melissa Kay Hohman, both of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Wilhelm of Louisville, Mrs. Bill (Theresa) Knepp of North Canton, and Juanita J. Hohman of Louisville.
