John George Kress

In 1910, 21 year old John Kress lived and worked on his parents' farm in Nimishillin Twp., Stark Co., Ohio. By 1920, he and his wife lived on a rented farm in Louisville, Nimishillin Twp. with their three children: Orilla (3), Richard (2) and Norbert (8 mos).

John G. Kress, age 86, of 1730 Washington Ave., Louisville was dead on
arrival Tuesday afternoon, July 15 at Timken Mercy Hospital following a
short illness.
Mr. Kress was born at Wheeling, W. Va., Dec 20 1889 and lived in the
Louisville area most of his life. He was the son of George and Magdalene
Reishman Kress. He was retired from the Kress Poultry Farm and Hatchery
of Louisville. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church of Louisville.
He was a former member of the Louisville K. of C., Catholic Order of Foresters,
and Farmers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Erma, 4 daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Orilla) Brahler,
Mrs.Dolores Schnase, and Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Carter, all of Louisville; Mrs.
James (Rita) Whitman of North Benton; 5 sons, Richard A. and Norbert L., both
of Alliance, Merton J. of Limaville, Delmar F. of California, Francis J. of Louisville;
3 sisters, Mrs. Norman (Anna) Wilhelm of Canton, Sister M. Leone H.M. of Villa
Marie, Penna., and Sister M. Bertille H.M. of Warren, Ohio; 43 grandchildren and
24 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, in St. Louis Catholic
Church. Friends called from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of
Louisville. Internment was in the church cemetery.


Erma Eva Haidet

Wedding announcement:
The wedding of Miss Erma Haidet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Haidet, and
Mr. John Kress, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kress, took place at St. Mary’s Catholic
church at Harrisburg, Wednesday, October 14. Their attendants were Miss Lida Haidet,
Haidet a sister of the bride, and Benjamin Zwick of New Berlin. The bride was dressed
in white silk and fine veiling and carried a bouquet of white roses. The bridesmaid was
dressed in brocaded blue flowered silk trimmed in white and carried a bouquet of pink
carnations.
After the ceremony, they left the church in a shower of rice and confetti rose petals and
drove to the home of the bride’s parents where a sumptuous dinner was served. The dining
room was decorated with white and blue and bunches of green myrtle. Mr. and Mrs. Kress
received many valuable presents. They left Wednesday evening for a trip to Lowellsville
and Villa Maria [PA], to visit with Mr. Kress’s sisters, Catherine and Margaret Kress,
who entered the convent of the sisters of Saint Joseph. The young people have the best
wishes of their many friends.

Obituary:
Erma E. Kress, age 84, formerly of 1730 Washington Blved., Louisville, passed away
Monday in Mapleview Nursing Home.
Born in Harrisburg, Ohio on Jan 1, 1897 to the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Lamielle
Haidet, she was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Altar & Rosary
Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. in 1975.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Orilla) Brahler, Mrs. Delores Schnase
and Mrs. Mary Carter, all of Louisville, Mrs. James (Rita) Whitman of North Benton;
5 sons, Francis of Louisville, Richard, Norbert, and Delmar, all of Alliance, Merton of
Limaville; 43 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon today, Thursday, in St. Louis Catholic
Church. Friends called Wednesday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Louis cemetery. St. Ann’s Altar & Rosary Society held services Wednesday at
the funeral home.
