Otto Benjamin Wahl

Otto B. Wahl, 80, of 2213 Rhode Island Avenue
SE, Massillon, was pronounced dead on arrival at the
Massillon Community hospital on May 22 at 5:08 p.m.
He was born May 10, 1902 in Woodsfield, a son of the
late Michael and Barbara Miller Wahl.
Mr. Wahl had formerly resided at 2305 Iris Court,
NW, Canton and for several years had been a resident of
Monroe County. He was a retired employee from Industrial
Forge, Canton, and before that was a farmer. He was a
member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Massillon.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel McCammon Wahl;
four daughters, Mrs. Cyril (Rosemary) Burkhart of Lewisville,
Mrs. William (Martha) McLaughlin of Dalton, Mr. Richard
(Elizabeth) Wolford of Massillon, and Mrs. Carl (Evelyn)
Fahrni of East Canton; seven sons, Paul of East Sparta,
Robert of Venice, FL., Fred and Raymond of Canton, Joseph
of the home, David of East Canton and James of Columbus;
two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Schwallie and Mrs. Francis
(Lillian) Schiltz of North Canton; a brother, Frank Wahl of
North Canton; 33 grandchildren and eleven great grand-
children.
Mas of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at
10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Massillon with
Reverends Nenwick, Hellem, Edwards, Chamberlain and
Soprano as concelebrants.
Interment ws at 2:30 p.m. in St. Sylvester Cemetery,
Woodsfield. Monsignor Robert A. Brown, Rev. Samuel
Soprano and Rev Jerry Hellem officiated at graveside services.


Hazel Jane McCammon

Obituary:
“TOGETHER AGAIN” Hazel J. Wahl, age 95, a resident of St. Joseph
Care Center, passed away there Thursday evening. She
was born in Woodsfield, OH, a daughter of the late Robert
and Minnie Neuhart McCammon and had been a resident
of the Canton-Massillon area since 1952. Hazel was a former
employee of Rus-Lee’s Restaurant in N. Canton. She was
a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a former
member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Massillon and the
Legion of Mary at the church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Otto B. Wahl, on
May 22, 1982, a daughter, Martha McLaughlin on Nov. 1, 1995,
and a sister, Alice Davis in 1995. Survived by three daughters
and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Cyril Burkhart of Louisville,
Elizabeth and Richard Wolford of Dellroy and Evelyn and Karl
Fahrni of East Canton; seven sons and four daughters-in-law,
Paul and Marie Wahl of Sandyville, Bob Wahl of Venice, FL,
Fredrick Wahl of Canton, Ray and Diane Wahl and David and
Sandi Wahl all of Louisville, Joseph and Patricia Wahl of Kenne-
saw, GA and James Wahl of Newark, OH; two sisters, Ida Freitag
of Sewickley, PA and Freda Jones of Woodsfield, OH; 37 grand-
children; 85 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-
grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at
1 p.m. in St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church in Woodsfield with Fr.
David Gaydosik as celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger &
Gordon Funeral Home and Tuesday 12-1 p.m. at the church.


Alexander Miller

At the time of the 1910 census, Alexander Miller (35) lived on a farm in Newton Twp., Licking County, Ohio with his wife Kathine (24) and children Marselines E. (1 yr 6 mos) and daughter Hazel M. (2 mos). Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio, as were their parents.

In 1920, Alex (46) and Catherine (34) Miller owned a farm in Newton Twp. Living with them were their children Earl (11), Hazel (9), Ralph (5) and Alford (2). Earl and Hazel attended school.

In 1930, Alexander Miller (56) owned a farm in Newton Twp., Licking County, Ohio where he lived with his wife, Katherine (45) and children Hazel (20), Ralph (15), Alfred (12), Katherine (7), Ruth (4), and Kenney (1). Only Ralph, Alfred and Katherine attended school. Unlike many of their neighbors, the Miller family did not own a radio set.

ALEXANDER MILLER
Alexander Miller , 64, farmer, Route 2, Martinsburg road died
today at 3 a.m. in University hospital, Columbus of complications
following an abdominal operation.
He was admitted to the hospital May 16 and underwent an opera-
tion last Tuesday. His condition has been critical since Wednesday.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Miller; four sons and
three daughters: Earl Miller of Cleveland, Ralph of St. Paul Minn.,
Alfred and Kenneth Miller of the home, Mrs. Berl Heft of Cleveland,
Katherine and Ruth of the home; five grandchildren; four brothers,
Fred Miller, twin of the deceased, Felix and Gilbert Miller of Braddock,
Pa., Herbert Miller of Columbus, Mrs. Leonard Herbst of Braddock,
Mrs. John Wahl of Newark and Mrs. William Burkhart of Canada.
The body will be brought to the Egan and Son funeral home today
and will remain there until Sunday morning when it will be taken to
the home. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a requiem
mass in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and burial will be made
in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Catharina T. Blake

In 1900, 12 year old Lizzie Blake and her 14 year old sister Katie lived in the houseold of their unmarried aunt Catherine Blake (her father's older sister), their grandmother 86 year old Gertrude Hohman Blake.

Wilma Marie Nau

The following wedding announcement, accompanied by a photograph of the couple, appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on September 9, 1957: Miss Wilma Marie Nau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nau of Caldwell, route 1, and Kenneth L. Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester T. Bates of Summerfield, route 2, were married in a double ring ceremony Saturday, August 31, in the rectory of St. Mary's Catholic church in Fulda. The Rev. J. J. Donaldson officiated. The bride wore a waltz-length dress of blue lace over satin styled with a fitted bodice featuring three rows of satin tied in front bows. She wore a bolero with three-quarter length sleeves and pinned a corsage of white pompons to her shoulder. Her jewelry was a single strand of pearls with matching earrings. Miss Donna Nau, as her sisters maid of honor, wore a beige and brown two-piece frock with a corsage of yellow pompons. David Bates of Washington, Pa., was best man for his cousin. A dinner for members of the immediate families was served at the home of the bride's parents immediately following the wedding. The new Mrs. Bates attended Dexter City high school and was a graduate from Caldwell high school in 1955. She is employed by the Journal-Leader at Caldwell. Mr. Bates is a 1955 graduate of Summerfield high school and is employed in this city by the Mosaic Tile company. The newlyweds are living in Caldwell.
