Joseph Peter Warner

In 1900, 29 year old widower Joseph Warner owned a farm in Lodi Twp., Athens Co., Ohio. He lived there with his son, Ralph (3), unmarried sister Mollie (21), and an 11 year old servant named Gus Klingenberg, who attended school. Joseph's parents lived next door.

In 1910, Joseph Warner (39) owned a farm in Lodi Twp., Athens Co., Ohio. He lived there with is second wife, Mary (37) to whom he had been married for eight years. Also living in the household were children Ralph (13), Raymond (6), Clara (4), Helen (3) and Herman (5 months).

At the time of the 1920 census, Joseph P. Warner (49) still owned a farm in Lodi Twp. Living with him were his wife, Mary F. (46), and children Ralph B. (23), Raymond V. (16) , Clara C. (14), Ella M. (13), Herman J. (10), Francis B. (7), and Bertha I. (3). Clara, Helen, Herman and Francis attended school.

In 1930, Joseph Warner (59) owned a farm in Marlboro Twp., Stark Co., Ohio where he lived with his wife Mary (57) and children Helen (23), Herman (20), Francis (17), and Bertha (13). The youngest three children attended school. Joseph's parents were born in Germany. The "age at first marriage" for Joseph was 25, and for Mary was 28.


Mary F. Hohman

In the 1900 census, 27 year old Mary lived with her parents and younger siblings. Her occupation is listed as "sewing."

The 1910 census is difficult to read, but it looks like Mary had given birth to 5 children, 4 of whom were still living.

Mary was not listed as a surviving child in her father's 1928 obituary.


Francis B. Warner

Francis Warner never married. He was a resident of Mahoning County at the time of his death.


Joseph Henry Hohman

In 1900, Joseph lived with his parents and siblings on the family farm in Elk Twp., Noble Co. Ohio. His occupation is listed as "farm labor."

At the time of the 1910 census, Joseph Hohman (33) and his wife Bregetta (32) rented a farm in Bainbridge Twp., Geauga County, Ohio where they lived with their children Lucina A. (4), Vera R. (2 yrs 10 mos), and Mary G. (4 mos). Although she did not attend school, the census indicated that 4 year old Lucina could read and write. Everyone in the household was born in Ohio. Brigetta's parents were natives of Ireland.

On 12 Sep 1918, 41 year old farmer Joseph Henry Hohman of 30 #7 Hudson, Summit County, Ohio filled out a draft registration card. He gave his birthdate as 7 Oct 1877. His nearest relative ws Bridgetta Hohman of the same address. Joseph was described as being of medium height and build, with grey eyes and black hair. The draft registration card was filled out in Ravenna, Portage County, Ohio.

In 1920, Joseph H. and Bregeta Hohman owned a dairy farm in Streetsboro, Portage County, Ohio. Living with them were their children Lucina A. (14), Vera R. (12), Mary G. (10), Placeda U. (8) and Henry J. (5). The four girls attended school.

In 1930, the family still owned a farm in Streetsboro. The household consisted of Joseph H. Hohman (53), his wife Brigetta (52), and children Vera R. (22), Placeda U. (18), and Henry A. (15). Placeda and Henry attended school. The Hohman family did not own a radio set, although several of their neighbors did.


Bridgetta Burns

Bridgetta Burns' family moved to Bainbridge, Ohio after her birth. Bridgetta was a seamstress prior to her marriage.


Vera R. Hohman

Vera Hohman never married.


Germaine Mary Hohman

Germaine Hudson never married. A copy of Germanine Hohman's obituary and funeral card were provided by her first cousin, Sister Marie Hohman (Martha C. Hohman). A handwritten note at the bottom of the clipping says that Germain was from Hudson, OH.

Obituary:
Germain M. Hohman, 84, of Akron, died Sunday, Nov. 20 1994 at Bridgepark Center. Germaine was born in Bainbridge Township, Ohio on Dec 14, 1909. She was the retired housekeeper for St. Anthony's Rectory. Her memberships included St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Monica's Society, and the 3rd Order of St. Francis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Henry Hohman, and sisters, Vera Hohman and Placeda Wagner, and is survived by sister Lucina Kane and 11 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Rossi Funeral Home, 552 N. Main St., Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony's School Fund or the 3rd Order of St. Francis.


John Valentine Hohman

In 1900, 21 year old John lived on the family farm with his parents and siblings. His occupation is listed as "school teaching."

At the time of the 1910 census, a John Hohman (31 years old) lived in Leola Twp., McPherson County, South Dakota with his wife of three years, Kate (?) (26) and their son, Francis (1 yr, 1 mo). John and his wife were natives of Ohio, their son was born in South Dakota. Rita's parents were born in Germany; John's in Ohio. John worked as a clerk in a hardware store.

On 12 Sep 1918, 39 year old John Valentine Hohman of Leola, McPherson Twp., South Dakota filled out a US draft registration card. He stated that he was born on Feb. 20, 1879 and that he worked as a lumber dealer for Mitchell Lbr. Co. in Leola. His nearest relative was listed as his wife, Kate M. Hohman.John was described as being of medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair, and no obvious physical disabilities.

The family still lived in Leola Twp. in 1920. When the census was taken, the members of the household were John V. (or U.), age 40, his wife Kathryn (35), and children Francis (11), and Althea (7). No occupation is listed for anyone in the household, and, according to the census, neither child attended school. The family's surname was incorrectly indexed as "Halman."

In 1930, the Hohman family owned a farm in Koto Twp., in McPherson County, South Dakota. The household consisted of John V, (or U.), age 51, his wife, Katharina (45), and their children Francis E. (21) and Althea M. (17). Both children had attended school within the past year. The Hohman family, unlike many of their neighbors, did not own a radio set.

According to great niece Sister Marie Hohman (Martha Hohman, grandaughter of John Maurice Hohman), John moved to Garnville, Iowa. He is mentioned as a surviving child in his father's 1928 obituary: "John Hohman, who resides in the west."


Francis Magnus Hohman

According to great niece Sister Marie Hohman (Martha Hohman, grandaughter of John Maurice Hohman), Frank may have moved to South Dakota. Clara Hohman Smithberger thinks it was Iowa.

It has not been proven that the Frank Hohman found in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 census in Iowa is the son of Sebastian Hohman.

By 1910, Frank Hohmann (29) and his bride Anna (25) rented a farm in Garnavillo Twp., Clayton County, Iowa. They had been married only one month, according to the census. Living with them was a hired hand named Henry Dorweiler (28), a native of Iowa. Frank and his parents were born in Ohio, Anna and her parents were from Iowa.

On 12 Sep 1918, 37 year old self-employed farmer Francis Magnus Hohman of Garnavillo, Clayton Co., Iowa filled out a US draft registration card. He gave his birthdate as March 21st, 1881. His nearest relative was listed as Mrs. Anna Hohman. Frank was listed as being of medium height and build, with brown eyes, black hair, and no physical disabilities.

Frank and Annie Hohman still lived on a rented farm in Garnavillo Twp. in 1920. There were no children in the household, but they had a hired man named Fred Thorpe (19).

Frank was not listed in his father's 1928 obituary.

In 1930, the couple still lived in Garnavillo Twp. on a farm that they rented for $10 a month. The only other member of the household was a 25 year old farm hand named Clarence Luten. The Hohmans owned a radio set, as did most of their neighbors.


John A. Bishop

In 1920, John A. Bishop (45) owned a farm on Chapel Street Road in Nimishillin Twp., Stark Co., Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Julie A. (40) and sons Roman H. (8) and Francis J. (5). Neither of the boys attended school. The adjacent farm in the census belonged to the family of Edward Snyder (38). The relationship, if any, between Julie Schnider Bishop and Edward Snyder is not known.

Obituary:
John A. Bishop, a retired farmer, died Thursday in his home at
413 N. Mill St., in Louisville, after an illness of one year. He was 76.
Born at Harriettsville, he had resided in Louisville 40 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Bishop, one son, Francis
Bishop of Louisville; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Schwallie of Canton, a
brother, Leonard Bishop of Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Bary Becker of
Harriettsville, and two grandchildren.
A requiem high mass was sing in St. Louis Catholic Church Mon-
day with Rev. Fr. Francis Palm officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Bertha E. Hohman

Obituary:
MRS. JOHN BISHOP
Mrs. Bishop of 413 N. Mill st died Monday, aged 80, after a brief illness.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, and St. Ann’s Altar Society.
Surviving her are a step-son, Francis Bishop of Louisville, a step-daughter,
Mrs. Mary Schwallie of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Crock of Kent and
Miss Rose Hohman of Woodsfield; also 3 grandchildren.
Requiem High Mass was sung at St. Louis Church this morning. Burial is
being made in St. Louis cemetery, in charge of Paquelet Funeral Home.


Henry Anthony Hohman

According to the Ohio online death certificate index, Henry was a machinist in the electrical machine industry. He was a widower at the time of his death.


John A. Bishop

RECENT DEATHS
Mrs. Julia Bishop, 51, wife of John Bishop, died at
her home at 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 24. Mrs. Bishop
was born at Fulda, Monroe co., Ohio. She leaves her husband,
a son, Francis, a daughter, Mary, and one brother, Joseph
Snyder, Louisville, and one sister, Mrs. John Bing, Monroe co.
She was a member of St. Louis Church and St. Ann’s Altar So-
ciety. Services will be held Thursday at 8:30 at St. Louis Church
in charge of Rev. Fr. Ruffling. Burial in St. Louis cemetery.


Roman Henry Bishop

Obituary:
ROMAN HENRY BISHOP DIES OF PNEUMONIA
The angel of death visited the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John Bishop on last Thursday, February 16th,
claiming their son, Roman Henry, aged 16 years. He is
survived by his parents and one brother and one sister.
His death was not a surprise to his parents as they
realized for some time that he was gradually growing
weaker. Ten days before his death bronchial pneumonia
set in and Roman was a great sufferer until the end came.
Funeral services were held at St. Louis Catholic Church
Saturday morning and were conducted by Rev. N. P.
Weckel. Interment was made in St. Louis cemetery.

We miss you since you’ve past;
Once pain - now joy - God bless you.
Heaven’s your reward at last.
