Henry Zwick

In 1900, 29 year old Henry Zwick lived and worked on his parents farm in Stuebenville City in Franklin Twp., Monroe County, Ohio.

In 1930, Henry (58) and Hannah (55) Zwick owned a farm in Malaga Twp., Monroe County. Ohio. Living with them were their children Kathryn M. (19), Laura P. (16), Franklin J. (14), and Madeline E. (12). The three youngest children attended school. The Zwick family did not own a radio set.

A brief death notice appeared in the Newark (Ohio) Advocate on 13 Jun 1943:
HENRY ZWICK DIES AT HOME
Woodsfield, Jun 13. -- Henry Zwick, 63, died at his home in Miltonsburg,
following a short illness. Surviving are his widow and five dauthgers.


A more detailed obituary was provided by Hannah Kuhn. (The exact source of the obituary is not known.)
Henry Zwick, aged 63 years, passed away Saturday noon at his home in
Miltonsburg following an extended illness. Mr. Zwick was born near Lewis-
ville and resided on a farm there for many years, later buying the Abe Walters
farm near Miltonsburg. A few years ago he moved to Miltonsburg where he
had since resided. He was a highly respected citizen and has many friends
who are saddened by his death.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hannah Burkhart Zwick; five daughters, Mrs.
Clarence Kress, Bridgeport, Mrs. Ben Brubach, Woodsfield; Misses Kathryn,
Laura, and Madeline Zwick of the home; two sons, E.A. Zwick, Zanesville,
and Franklin Zwick of the home. Four grandchildren, Kathleen and Virgil Kress
of Bridgeport, Martha Jane Brubach of Woodsfield, and Eddie Zwick of Zanes-
ville; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Smithberger of near Summerfield and Mrs. Katie
Schoeppner of near Harrietsville; six brothers, Michael and John Zwick of Louis-
ville, Stark County, and George W., Joseph, and Charles Zwick of the Lewisville
community, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at St. John's Church, Miltonsburg, 9:00 o'clock
Tuesday morning in charge of his pastor, Rev. Drecher. Interment was made in
the church cemeter. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.


Hannah Burkhart

Obituary:
HANNAH ZWICK, 79, WOODSFIELD, DIES
WOODSFIELD, Feb. 25 - Mrs. Hannah Zwick, 79, widely known
Monroe county native, died late Wednesday night [24 Feb 1954] at
her home, 339 South Main street, after a short illness. She was the
widow of Henry Zwick, who died in 1934 and before coming here five
years ago, resided in the Miltonsburg community. She was a daughter
of John and Caroline Baker Burkhart and was a member of the St.
John’s church of Miltonsburg.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Clarence Kress of Woodsfield, Mrs.
Charles Elliott and Mrs. John Moore, both of Cleveland, Mrs. William
Davis of Mansfield, and Mrs. Paul Huntsman of Cambridge; two sons,
Edmund of Zanesville and Franklin of Cleveland; a brother, Joseph Burk-
hart of this community, and one sister, Mrs. Clark English of Reiners Mill.
The body will remain at the Schumacher funeral home until requiem
high mass is offered in St. Sylvester Catholic church at 9 o’clock Saturday
morning. Msgr. J. C. Mehler will officiate and burial will be in St. Johns
cemetery at Miltonsburg.

Hannah's daughters' husbands' names supplied by Linda Kay Anderson do not quite match those in Hannah's obituary. In the obituary, there is no mention of surname Newhart. And the obituary lists Mrs. William Davis and Mrs. Charles Elliot, but it's not clear which daughters are married to those men.


George O. Wilkinson

At the time of the 1910 census, George O. Wilkinson owned a mortgaged home on Holiday Ave. (no house number given) in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Mary A. and children Winnifred B. (6), Elinora O. (4) and William H. (2). Only Winifred attended school. George and his parents were born in Pennsylvania; Mary and the children were born in Ohio. George was employed as an oil driller.

In 1914 (at the time of Mary Zwick Wilkinson's father's death), the family still lived in Woodsfield. Some time over the course of the next six years, they moved to Oklahoma.

In 1920, George Wilkinson (53) owned a home at 1030 Pfendler Ave. in Sapulpa Twp., Creek County, Oklahoma. Living in the household were his wife, Mary (52), and children Winifred (16), Elenora (14), and William (11). All of the children attended school. According to the census, George was born in Pennsylvania; Mary and the children were natives of Ohio. George's parents' birthplaces is listed only as "United States." George worked as a driller in an oil field. (The couple's surname is misspelled "Williamson" in the census index.)


Mary Anna Zwick

In 1900, 32 year old Mary Zwick lived with her parents and younger siblings on the family farm in Stuebenville City in Franklin Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. Mary, who was not married, worked as a dressmaker.


Winifred B. Wilkinson

In 1920, 16 year old Winifred Wilkinson lived with her parents and younger siblings in the family home in Sapulpa, Creek Co., Oklahoma. She attended school during the previous year. She was also employed as a telephone operator.
