Shirley Ann Sorg

The following birth announcement appeared in the Sunday Times signal (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on July 29, 1940 SORG, Mr. and Mrs. Earl, of Cumberland Route 4,
a daughter, at Good Samaritan hospital, July 27.


The following article appeared in The times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on February 11, 1965 HONORED AT PARTY Mrs. Terry Cooperrider, the former Miss Shirley Sorg,
was guest of honor at a recent surprise shower at her
home in Newark. Mrs. Earl Sorg and Mrs Harold Cooperrider served as hostesses, guests included-
coworkers of Mrs. Cooperrider from the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Obituary:

A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Ann (Sorg), 78, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Newark, with the Rev. Johathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Shirley, was a 50-year parishioner of the church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus on Sunday, on January 20, 2019. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on July 27, 1940 to the late Earl L and Gertrude E (Zwick) Sorg.
Shirley, was dedicated to her family and church community and worked as a nurturing babysitter for many years. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, cooking, singing in the church choir, and helping the Marian Club prepare food for funeral luncheons.
Her gentle and kind nature will be greatly missed by her husband of 55 years, Terry Cooperrider, daughter, Shawn Marie Cooperrider, son, Patrick (Beth) Cooperrider, (4) grandchildren, Kristen Magers (Susan Tebben), Lindsey Cooperrider, Sarah Decker and Tanner Cooperrider, sisters, Delores (Jerry) Gibson, Sandy (Dan) Backus, Becky (Rod) Smith, and Michaelle (Todd) Rock, brother-in-law, Bill Cooperrider, sister-in-law, Becky Sorb, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceeded in death by her sister, Patricia (Frank) Rubeck, and her brother, Richard Sorg.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 p.m.

Francis William Rubeck

Obituary:

A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis W. Rubeck, 63, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Newark, with the Rev. Timothy Haren officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Frank, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died on Aug. 20 at his home in Newark. He was born in Newark on March 26, 1942 to the late Charles and Margaret (Gebhart) Rubeck.
Frank, a United States Army veteran, was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and a 1960 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. He was employed from 1961 to 1986 at the Owens Corning Fiberglass Research Center. Frank then worked at Lowe’s in Jackson, Tenn. And most recently at Lowe’s in Heath.
Frank is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pat (Sorg) Rubeck of the home; one son, Mark Rubeck of Westerville, brothers and sister-in-law David C. Rubeck of Austin, Texas and Leo and Stephanie Rubeck of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret Ann and Bob Dellenbach-Short of Tallahassee, Fla., and Helen and Larry Lightle of Savannah, Ga., his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Terry Cooperrider of Newark, Delores Jerry Gibson of Cambridge, Ohio, Sandi and Dan Backus of Zanesville, Richard "Dick" and Becky Sorg of Mt. Perry, Ohio, Becky and Rod Smith of Zanesville, and Michelle and Todd Rock of Zanesville, and many nieces and nephews.

Patricia Gertrude Sorg

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Newark (OH) Advocate newspaper on Oct 17, 1964: SORG AND RUBECK RITES ARE READ IN ZANESVILLE MSGR HUBERT A RUBECK, uncle of the bridegroom of Portsmouth, officiated at the wedding of Miss Patricia Sorg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl I. Sorg, Rt. 1, Glenford, and Francis William Rubeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rubeck, 253 N. Wing St. St. Nicholas catholic Church in Zanesville was the scene of the double ring ceremony solemnized at 11 a.m. Saturday. For her wedding the bride chose a floor length gown of white peau and Chantilly lace, highlighted with a scalloped yoke of lace and a sheath skirt overlayed with tiers of lace. the skirt, gathered full in back, extended to a chapel train. A crown of pearls and crystals held her elbow length veil of illusion. She carried a cascade arrangement of white roses and ivy centered on a white prayer book. A sister of the bride, Miss Delores Sorg, served as the maid of honor and another sister, Miss Sandra Sorg, was the bridesmaid. The attendants wore identically styled street length gowns of aqua peau de sove(Sp), featuring rounded necklines and belled skirts. They wore matching circular veils held by crowns of aurora crystals. Their flowers were cascade arrangements of bronze mums. David Rubeck served his brother as best man, and seating the guests were William Keck and Terry Cooperrider. Hostesses at the reception held in the Moose Home in Zanesville immediately following the ceremony were Mrs. William Lee, Mrs Perle Dille, Mrs. Alfred Kenney, and Mrs William Mcgovern, all of Zanesville. The bride was graduated from Hopewell High School and is employed in the medical records department of Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville. Mr. Rubeck is a graduate of Newark Catholic High school and attended Ohio State University. He is stationed with the Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. After a short wedding trip the couple will make their home in Tacoma, Wash.

The following wedding announcement accompanied by a picture of the bride appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on March 10, 1968: MISS SORG, MR. GIBSON WED SATURDAY IN DOUBLE RING VOWS AT ST. NICHOLAS In a ceremony solemnized at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Nicholas Catholic
Church, Miss Delores Mary Sorg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Sorg of
Mount Perry route 1, became the bride of Jerry Bruce Gibson of 1933 Sunset
avenue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Gibson of Cambridge. The bride walked to the altar with her father by whom she was given in
marriage. She wore a gorn (sic) of white peau and Chantilly lace, designed
with chapel train. The floor length sheath skirt was overlaid with three tiers of
lace, gathered in the back and highlighted by a bow. the sleeves tapered to
points over the hands. She wore a crown of pearls and aurora crystals with elbow length veil of
illusion. Sher flowers were carnations centered with yellow sweetheart roses
arranged on a white prayer book. A sister of the bride, Mrs. Terry Cooperrider of Newark was the honor
attendant. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Francis Rubeck of Newark and Miss Sandy
Sorg, sisters of the bride. All wore mint green empire sheaths with bell-shaped
sleeves edged in lace. Their dresses were accented with detachable train topped
with a bow. they wore matching headpieces and carried bouquets of white
carnations with tufts of mint green net. James Gibson served as best man. Guests were seated by Alan Farnsworth
and Richard Sorg, brother of the bride. The reception followed at the Moose Home/ Assistants were Mrs. Pearl
Dille, Mrs. Violet Wardell, Mrs. Ella Mae Hamilton, Mrs. Myrtle Tati and Mrs.
Cathy Kinney. Guests were registered by Miss Christy Blake. When they return from a short wedding trip the newlyweds will live at 1033
Sunset avenue. Mrs. Gibson, a graduate of West Muskingum High School, is a laboratory
secretary at good Samaritan Hospital. She is a member of St. Nicholas Church. Mr. Gibson was graduated from Cambridge High School. He is a student of
X-ray technology at Good Samaritan Hospital and is a member of Second United
Presbyterian Church at Cambridge.


Sandra Kathryn Sorg

The following engagement announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on December 5, 1969. MISS SORG, MR. BACKUS ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Sorg of Mount Perry route 1 announce
the engagement of their daughter Sandra K. to Daniel R.
Backus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Backus of route 3. The bride-elect is a 1968 graduate of West Muskingum High
School. She is employed in the medical records office at Good
Samaritan Medical Center. Mr. Backus, a 1967 graduate of West Muskingum High School,
is a clerk at United Parcel Service. A wedding date has not been set.

The following wedding announcement accompanied a picture of the bride that appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) on October 18, 1970: SANDRA K. SORG MARRIES BEFORE ST. NICHOLAS ALTAR The altar of St. Nicholas Catholic Church provided the back-
ground for the wedding Saturday of Miss Sandra K. Sorg,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Sorg of Mount Perry Route
1, and Daniel R. Backus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Backus
of Route 10. The ceremony took place at 11 a.m. with Msgr.
Linus J. Dury officiating. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a floor
length gown of Chantilly lace fashioned with high ruffled
neckline, fitted high rise bodice and long sleeves cuffed at
the wrists. The deri-bell silhouette skirt extended into a chapel
train accented in the back by a double Dior bow. A headpiece of petals with elbow length fingertip illusion
veil completed her bridal ensemble and she carried white
pompons and pumpkin colored roses on a white bible. Mrs. Terry Cooperider of Newark was her sister's matron of
honor. She wore a floor length dress of pumpkin colored dacron
double knit with elbow length sleeves. Her headpiece was a
matching double tier bow with veil and she carried pumpkin
colored pompons with autumn foliage. Mrs. Francis Rubeck of Newark and Misses Rebecca and
Michelle Sorg, sisters of the bride were bridesmaids. Their
dresses and headpieces were moss green, identical to the
honor attendant's. They also carried pumpkin colored pom-
pons and autumn leaves. Larry Backus, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
Ushers were Terry Cooperrider and Francis Rubeck, both
of Newark, and Richard Sorg, brother of the bride. A reception was held at the Catholic Youth Center where
assistants were Mrs. John Tyo, Mrs. Pearle Dille, Mrs. Alfred
Kinney, Mrs Regis Michel and Mrs. Jerry Gibson of Cambridge,
a sister of the bride. Mrs. Backus, a 1968 graduate of West Muskingum High
School, is employed in the office of Drs. Lasky, Krohn and
Porter. Her husband is a 1967 graduate of West Muskingum High
School and attended Ohio University-Zanesville. He is employed
by United Parcel Service. Both he and his bride are members of
St. Nicholas Church.


Richard Earl Sorg

The following caption accompanied a picture that appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 14, 1969. Dick Sorg, 17, of Mt. Perry stands with his Jersey cow
that won Senior grand champion and Grand champion Female
honors in dairy cattle judging. Sorg is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Sorg.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Lynn of 1925 Newark road
announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their
daughter, Rebecca Marie, to Richard E. Sorg, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Sorg of Mount Perry Route 1.
The wedding will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, at St.
Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Miss Lynn, a 1972 graduate of Muskingum Area
Technical College, is employed in the computer center of
Muskingum College where she is also a student.
Mr. Sorg is employed by the Muskingum County Soil
and Water Conservation District. He graduated in 1971 from
the Muskingum Area Technical College.
