Anthony Ignatuis. Biedenbach

On Jun 5, 1917, 25 year old unmarried Anthony Ignatius Biedenbach of RFD 1, Kuhn, Ohio filled out a US military draft registration card. He stated that he was born on May 13, 1892 in Kuhn. He worked as a farmer for Joseph Biedenbach in Monroe County. He was described as being of medium height and slender build, with blue eyes and light hair.

Anthony Biedenbach's obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 02 Jul 1969:

Barnesville -- Anhony J. Biedenbach, 77, of 306 West
South Street, a retired farmer, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (July
1) at Barnesville Hospital where he had been a patient for two
weeks. He was born May 13, 1892 in Monroe County, a son of
Joseph and Barbara Muth Biedenbach. Mr. Biedenbach was a
member of the Church of the Assumption, the Holy Name Society,
and the Barnesville Post of the American Legion. He was a
veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow, Ellen; a daughter, Mrs.
Bernard Dick of Woodsfield, five sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuhn, Mrs.
Josephine Bosold and Mrs. Anna Weisend, all of Canton, Mrs.
Christine Steiner of Tucson Ariz., and Mrs. Helen Ehlerman of
Caldwell; four brothers, Edmond of Lewisville, Ambrose of
Caldwell, Henry of Cambridge and Clarence of Grants Pass,
Ore. A brother, Casper, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home
here 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and funeral
mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of the
Assumption. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Frederick Joseph Wahl

In 1900, Fred Wahl (32) rented a farm in Center Township, Monroe County, Ohio where he lived with his wife Apolonia (22) and daughter Gertrude (1). The farm next door was that of Michael Wahl. Fred and Michael were brothers, and their wives, Barbara Miller Wahl and Apollonia Miller Wahl, were sisters.

At the time of the 1910 census, Fredrick (42) and Appolina (34) Wahl owned a farm in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. Also living in the household were their children Gertrude (10), Roman (6), Edmond (2) and Ralph S. (4 mos.). Gertrude and Roman attended school. Fred's parents lived on the farm next door, and his older brother John lived nearby.

In 1920, Fred (52) and Apollonia (43) Wahl owned a farm in Malaga Twp. Living with them were their children Roman (16), Edward (12), Ralph (10), Mary (6), and Joseph (4 yrs, 2 mos.). Edward, Ralph, and Mary attended school. Eveyone in the household was born in Ohio. According to the census, Fred's father and mother were born in Alsace-Lorraine and Bavaria, respectively.

In 1930, Frederick (62) and Apollonia (53) Wahl still owned a farm in Malaga Twp. They lived there with their children Ralph (20), Mary (14) and Joseph (10). Only Joseph attended school.

At the time of the 1910 census, all four of Apollonia Miller Wahl's children were living (i.e., none had died in childhood).

BROTHER DIES
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Beidenbach and family of
Lewisville were summoned to Miltonsburg Saturday to attend
the funeral of Mrs. Beidenbach’s brother, Ralph Wahl, 28,
who died Thursday at Gallipolis.


Joseph Leo Wahl

Joe was always referred to as the baby of the family. His death in World War II was very hard on his mother Abby.


Otto Wahl

Otto Wahl does not appear in any census with the Wahl family, nor is he listed as a family member by researcher Betty Hartley. Robert Wahl (grandson of Frederick and Apollonia) says that if there was an Otto, he must have died in infancy.


Casper John Biedenbach

Casper Biedenbach fought in World War II, then moved to Burbank, California to live with his Uncle Clarence Biedenbach.


Dorothy Mary Kuhn

Wedding announcement:
MISS DOROTHY KUHN BECOMES BRIDE OF EARL NORRIS
The marriage of Miss Dorothy Kuhn and Earl Norris of this city took place this
morning in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Lewisville, O., of which the bride is a
member. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Finan. Mrs. Finan is the former
Miss Alfred (sic) Burkhart and her wedding to Mr. Finan took place earlier this week.
She and today’s bridegroom are cousins.
Following a breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Norris left for a trip and later they will come
to this city. They will establish their home in the Lincoln apartments, South Fifth street.
Mrs. Norris is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Kuhn of Lewisville and for the past
several years she has been employed at Good Samaritan hospital. Mr. Norris, the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Norris of North Maple avenue is employed by Moores and Ross
company here.

Dorothy Kuhn Norris was living in Columbus, Ohio in 2003.

Obituary:

Dorothy M. (Kuhn) Norris, 91 ,of The Villa of St. Theresa in Columbus,
formerly of Zanesville died at 1:20 PM, on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 following
a lenghty illness. She was born on Tuesday, December 16, 1913, in Woods-
field, OH the daughter of Joseph A. Kuhn and Mary R. (Biedenback) Kuhn.
She was married to Earl C. Norris who died October 4, 1976. She was
a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, a member of The Daughters of
Isabella, The Rosary Altar Society, St. Thomas and St. Nicholas Senior
Citizens and an avid Euchre Player.
Mrs. Norris is survived by three daughters Brenda (James) Anderson
of Pickerington, Mary Lou (Edward) Cush of Westerville and Margaret
(Gregory) Ritterbeck of Zanesville; two sons Patrick (Marsha) Norris of
Zanesville and Michael (Jennifer) Norris of Massillon; one son- in- law
Thomas Lang of Elyria; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Two sisters Emma Dimmerling of Caldwell and Matilda Burkhart of
Syracuse, NY. One brother Mark Kuhn of Caldwell. Dorothy was preceded
in death by her parents; her husband, a daughter Carol Lang, one brother
Herman Kuhn and one sister Nellie Burkhart.
Friends may call from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM on Thursday, March 17 at the
Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue where a Christan
Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church
with Fr. Emanuel Bertrand as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Social

Beda Henry Hupp

HUPP-NAU NUPTIALS
A number of Caldwell folks attended a pretty wedding Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception church, Fulda, when Miss Agnes Nau became the bride of Bede Hupp. The impressive service was read by Rev. Fr. Mattes. The bride was gowned in white silk, wore a veil with accessories to match. The bridesmaid was Miss Mary Crock, Wheeling W.Va., and the best man was William Estadt. Caldwell.
A wedding dinner of pretty appointments was served following the ceremony at the home of the groom’s mother, Mrs. Frank Hupp, east of Caldwell, to sixty invited guests. The bride’s table was centered with a large wedding cake and a birthday cake. The latter cake was in honor of the ninetieth anniversary of the groom’s grandfather, who was seated at the table.
The bride and groom are popular young folks of Noble county, and are receiving felicitations of their many friends. They will reside for the present with his mother.

. CALDWELL -- Beda Henry Hupp, 76, of Caldwell Route 1, a retired farmer, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in a Cambridge hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1898, in Enoch Township of Noble county. Mr. Hupp was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Fulda.
Surviving are three sons, Oliver of Caldwell Route 4, Vernon and Ronald of Caldwell Route 1; two brothers, John of Caldwell route 4 and Alex of Woodsfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Craft of Louisville and Mrs. Ida Michael of Caldwell; nine grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today in Estadt Funeral Home here where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's church. burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Fulda.

MRS. AGNES HUPP DIES IN HOSPITAL TUESDAY EVENING
Fulda Resident Is Taken To Hospital For Operation But Succumbs
CALDWELL, O., Feb 24 - Mrs. Agnes Anna Hupp,
31, wife of Bede Hupp of near Fulda died in Good Samaritan
hospital, Zanesville, Tuesday evening [23 Feb 1937] and the
body was brought to the Estadt funeral home on East street
and Wednesday removed to the family home.
Mrs. Hupp was taken to the hospital several days
ago in a critical condition, for an operation, but her condition
gradually grew worse until the end came.
She was the daughter of Henry R. and Laura Miller
Nau and lived her entire life in the Fulda community. Besides
the father and mother and her husband, there are three small
children, Oliver, Vernon, and Ronald, of the home, one sister,
Mrs. Clara Hupp, and two brothers Barnard and Leo Nau, all
of near Fulda, surviving.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9
o’clock from St. Mary's Catholic church at Fulda, with the Rev.
Fr. B. J. Mattes officiating and interment will be made in the
church cemetery.

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on August 25, 1962: SHIRLEY MILLER, MR. HUPP MARRY IN CALDWELL CHURCH Miss Shirley Ann Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Miller of Caldwell Route 4 and Ronald Terrance Hupp, son
of Beda Hupp of Caldwell route 4 were married Saturday,
Aug. 4 in St. Philomena Catholic Church in Caldwell. The
Rev. Fr. Stephen Pekella solemnized the double ring
ceremony at 9 a. m. Wearing a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon
tulle over satin the bride was given in marriage by her father.
The basque bodice was styled with long tapering sleeves
and a round neckline accented by appliqued motifs of lace
and illusion. The nylon tulle bouffant skirt was enhanced by
front and back panels of lace. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was held by a flat crown
trimmed with tiny shells and florets. She carried a bouquet
of red roses and streamers and lover's knots. Mrs Nelson Thompson, as her sisters only attendant wore
a pink taffeta dress and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Best man was Nelson Thompson Hupp, brother of the bride-
groom, and Andrew Miller, uncle of the bride, seated the
guests. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held
in St. Mary's Parish Hall in Fulda. Mr. Hupp is employed by Crock and Schafer, Caldwell con-
tractors. The couple will live on Caldwell Route 1.
