Leona Michel Weisend's obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 3 Feb 2006:
WOODSFIELD - Leona Rose Weisend, 83, of the Woodsfield
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield, formerly of Lewis-
ville, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at the center.
She was born March 14, 1922, in Caldwell, a daughter of the
late Joseph and Elizabeth Dimmerling Michel. She was a home-
maker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, near Lewis-
ville.
Surviving are her husband, Robert N. Weisend, whom she married
May 17, 1946; a daughter, Elizabeth Jean (Mark) Williams of Dres-
den; three sons, Bruce (Lisa) Weisend of Caldwell, Brent Joseph
(Shelly) Weisend of Dresden and Barry John (Carol) Weisend of
Heath; a sister, Verna McDowell of Tennessee; a brother, Earl
Michel of Massillon; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grand-
children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a
daughter, Bonita Sue Weisend; five brothers, Terrance, William,
Harley, Harold and James Michel; and three sisters, Hilma Estadt,
Lorena Ottle and Lillian Michel.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5,
at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 Ohio 78 West, Woodsfield, with
Vigil services at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday,
Feb. 6, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, near Lewisville, with
the Rev. Father David Gaydosik as celebrant. Burial will follow in
the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lewisville.

Bonita Weisend’s birthday celebration was described in the Zanesville Signal, 3 Jan 1951
SUMMERFIELD - Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weisent entertained
Thursday with abirthday party in honor of their daughter, Bonnie’s
fourth birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Warner
and sons of Carlisle; Mr. and Mrs. James Michael (sic) and daugh-
ters and Mrs. Elizabeth Michael (sic) of Fulda, and Jeannie Weisent.

According to the online Ohio death certificate index (www.ancetry.com), Bonnie Sue Weisend never married.


Nicholas Peter Weisend

According to researcher Mark Haren, some sources give year of birth as 1888. The 1889 figure is from the 1900 census.

In 1910, 20 year old Nicholas Weisend lived with his widowed mother and five siblings. His occupation is listed as "farmer."

In 1930, Nicholas P. Weisend (42) owned a farm in Seneca Twp., Monroe Co., OH. Living with him were his wife, Marcella M. (34), and children John A. (13), Robert N. (11), Emma M. (9), Mildred C. (7), Norbert F. (5), Charles J. (3 yrs 6 mos.), and Elizabeth A. (1 yr, 6 mos.). The four oldest children attended school. The Weisend family did not own a radio set.

Fulda after spending a few dayys at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

WEISEND, James G., 66, of Adams Lane Care Center, Zanesville, formerly of
Lewisville, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 4, 1996, at home. He was a former construction
worker, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, near Lewisville, and an Navy veteran
of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas and Marcella M. Nauer Weisend;
a brother, Charles. Surviving are three brothers, Ashton of Zanesville, Robert of Lewisville
and Norbert of Albuquerque, N.M.; six sisters, Emma Shelton of Picker­ington, Ohio,
Mildred Carpenter of Lewisville, Elizabeth Ramsey of Zanesville, Catherine Alvis of Hous­ton,
Texas, Rose Blackburn of Hous­ton, Texas, and Mary Ritterbeck of Akron, Ohio; several
nieces and nephews.
Friends received from 9:30-10:30 a.m. today at Brubach­Watters Funeral Home, 202 Main
St., Summerfield, Ohio. Funeral litur­gy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, near Lewisville. . Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lewisville.

Earl S. Michel, age 96, longtime resident of Massillon died Sunday, January 21, 2007. He was born November 2, 1910, in Fulda, OH to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Dimmerling) Michel. He moved to Massillon in 1936 and was a lifelong farmer in Jackson Township and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Bing) in 1991; sons, Charles and David; daughter, Patricia Bryan; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survived by his daughter, Janet Bossart of Massillon; son-in-law, Robert Bryan of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren: Bill (Denise) Bryan, Christine (Dave) Kilgour, Debbie (Bill) Loots, Michael (Chris) Bossart, Scott (Janice) Bossart; great grandchildren: Hillary, Mercedes, Sabrina, Zachary, Tiffany, Jason, Matthew, Brian, Gregory, Michael Jr., Amanda and Shaun; great great grandchild, Sean; sister, Verna McDowell of Trenton, TN.
Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 241 S. Main Street, North Canton with Rev. Msgr. James A. Clarke officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 PM Tuesday (TONIGHT) at Karlo- Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton.


Martha M. Bing

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal on April 30, 1936 BING-MICHAEL RITES ANNOUNCED Caldwell, O., -- April 30 -- Miss Martha Bing, Lewisville and Earl Michael, Caldwell, were united in marriage, Tuesday morning, 8:30 o'clock, in the Burkhart St. Joseph's Catholic church. rev. Fr. Joseph Finan read the nuptial high mass. The bridesmaid was Miss Verna Michael, sister of the groom and the best man, Carl Bing, brother of the bride. The bride chose for her wedding gown, an ankle length white satin dress with wreath and tulle veil. She wore a bridal corsage of white roses. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bing, Lewisville and a graduate of the Lewisville high school, class of 1935. She is a member of Burkhart St. Josephs Catholic church. The groom is the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Michael, Caldwell and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church of Fulda. The young couple will make their home near Caldwell. Immediately following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was given at the home of the bride's parents. A three tier white wedding cake decorated with doves carrying the wedding ring centered the table. Covers of bridal appointments were laid for fifty guests. In the evening, they were honored with a wedding dance in the Phi Delta Kappa hall, Caldwell and it was estimated that about two hundred were in attendance.

Although his obituary uses the traditional spelling of the surname ("Michel"), many other sources indicate that James changed the spelling to "Michael" to match the pronunciation.

James Beda Michel, 85, of Seneca Lake Road,
Sarahsville, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2005,
at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born
July 1, 1918, in Fulda to Joseph and Elizabeth Dimmerling
Michel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving
with the 145th Infantry from 1940 to 1946.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ray Michel
(Patricia Ann) of East Canton, William David Michel (Nancy
Ann) of Cambridge; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth :Bette”
Miller (Louis James) of Sarahsville, Linda Lou Leasure
(George W. “Bill”) of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-
grandchildren; one brother, Earl Michel of Massillon; two
sisters, Verna McDowell of Trenton, TN, Leona Weisend
(Robert) of Lewisville; and a brother-in-law, Bernard “Bud”
Ottle of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine
Mercer Michel on November 15, 1985. They had been
married on January 29, 1945; al four brothers, Terrance,
Harold, Harley and William Michel; three sisters, Hilma
Estadt, Lorena Ottle, and Lillian Michel; and one grand-
daughter, Karen Sue Leasure.
He was buried in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Caldwell.


Bernadine Mercer

The following wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on January 29, 1945 MORNING WEDDING AT ST. NICHOLAS Wearing a gown of traditional white, Miss Bernadine Mercer, daughter of Mrs. Mary Mercer, 1173 Wheeling avenue exchanged vows at 7:45 o'clock this morning with Cpl. James Michael, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Michael, Caldwell, route 1, in St. Nicholas Catholic church. The bride chose for her marriage a gown with bodice of white slipper satin fashioned with tiny buttons down the front and long sleeves ending in points over the hands; a sweetheart neckline and net skirt. A long veil of illusion completed her ensmble (sic). She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white iris. Miss Rita Mercer, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a gown of yellow net styled sweetheart neckline, full skirt and three-quarter length sleeves. The two bridesmaids, Miss Leona Michael, sister of the bride-groom and Mrs. Howard Miller, sister of the bride, were gowned alike in blue and aqua shades. There costume were similar to the maid of honor's. Both attendants carried yellow pom poms. poms. (sic) Best man was Howard Miller, brother-in-law of the bride; Cletus Michael, cousin of Cpl. Michael, and Bernard Ottle, his brother-in-law were ushers. A wedding breakfast was served after the ceremony at the home of the bride's mother, and later in the day a reception will be held in the Michael home in Caldwell. Cpl. Michael has returned recently from overseas duty and later will report to Miami, Fla. He attended the Immaculate conception catholic high school at Fulda, O. Mrs. Michael, who attended St. Nicholas Catholic high school here, returned to Zanesville Friday from two years spent at Southgate, Calif., where she was employed by the Rheem Manufacturing company, a war industry. When the couple leave later in the week for Miami, Fla., the new Mrs. Michael will wear a grey suit with black accessories and a corsage from her bridal bouquet.

Andrew F. Estadt

In 1930, Andrew Estadt (22) rented part of a two-family house at 167 Stokes Ave., North Braddock, Allegheny County, PA. (The house number is out of sequence with adjacent houses, which are numbered 415 and 423.) Rent was $23 a month. Andrew lived with his wife Hilma (21) and daughter Virginia (1 yr, 10 months). The family did not own a radio set. Andrew worked casting in a steel mill. The other family occupying the house was that of Fulda descendant Wilbert Herbst.

Andrew Estadt
Caldwell -- Andrew Estadt, 61, of Erwinna, Pa., native of Noble County, died at
11:55 p.m. Thursday (July 10) after a long illness. Mr. Estadt was born Oct 12 1907,
a son of Henry and Elizabeth Schoeppner Estadt and was employed at the Edgar
Thompson Steel Mill at Braddock, PA. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic
Church at North Braddock, Pa.
Surviving are his widow, the former Hilma Michel; a son, Father Barry Estadt of
Herman, PA.; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Kimmerle and Mrs. Eileen Paulcheck both
of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Mildred Buckey of Caldwell and three
brothers, Clem Estadt of Caldwell, Bernard of Akron and James of Canton. Two brothers
and two sisters are deceased.
The body was taken to Lesko Funeral Home at North Braddock where friends may
call. Requiem Mass will be sung at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church with burial
in a North Braddock Cemetery.
