Obituary:
Arthur W. Michel, Sr., age 83 of Canton, passed away Sunday,
March 20, 2005 at Altercare of Canton after an extended illness.
Born in Fulda, OH, he was a Veteran of World War II serving in
the U.S. Navy. A retired employee of Republic Steel. A member
of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Canton Lodge #233 and an
avid bowler, hunter, fisherman and gardener.
Preceded in death by parents, Harry and Cora Michel; brothers,
Leo, Roger and Victor Michel. Survived by his wife of 58 years,
Joan Michel; son, Arthur W. (Denise) Michel, Jr. of Louisville;
daughters, Barbara (Cal) Gopp of N. Canton, Rita (Thomas)
Dick of N. Canton, Rebecca (Larry) Kellos of Canton; 13 grand-
children; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold and
Gerald Michel; two sisters, Patricia Huck and Wanetta Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Welch-
Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Edward Beneleit will
officiate. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be
held Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miss Wonetta Michel and Albert Smith Jr. were married
May 1 in St. Mary's Catholic church in Fulda. Rev. B. J. Mattes
read the double ring ring (sic) ceremony. Attendants were Miss Jo
Maniscaleo of this city, and Victor Michel of Canton, brother of
the bride.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Michel of Caldwell.
Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith of Jackson street
[Zanesville]. The couple will live at 146½ Underwood street [Zanes-
ville].

Anniversary announcement:

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Michel Sr. of Canton will celebrate their 50th
anniversary Friday. A family and friends dinner will be held at a later
date.

The former Beverley Shaffer and her husband were married July
11, 1953, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fulda by the Rev. M.A.
McNicholas. They are members of St. Benedict Catholic Church
in Canton.

They are the parents and in-laws of Pamela Shephard of Navarre;
Harold and Parry Michel Jr. of Louisville, and David and Shelli
Michel of New Philadelphia. There are seven grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.

Michel is retired from the Timken Co. He is a member of AARP
and is an usher at St. Benedict. Mrs. Michel is a housewife. She
is a member of AARP.

They request no gifts.


Karen Louella Michel

Obituary:
CALDWELL-Karen Lowella Michel, 13-month-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Michel of Canton died
Tuesday, Jan 22 in the office of a Canton physician
where she had been taken for treatment.
The child, a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Michel of Magnolia, former Noble county residents,
had suffered from a heart ailment since birth.
Funeral services and burial were held in Canton
Jan. 24.

Howard Albert Huck

Howard Albert Huck 's obituary appeared in the Marietta (OH) Times newspaper on June 27, 2007

LOWELL - Howard Albert Huck, 78, of Lowell Hill Road, Lowell, died Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at his home.

He was born March 24, 1929, in Adams Township, Washington County, to Clarence and Emma Bauerbach Huck. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea. He was a farmer and had been a construction carpenter. Howard was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Carpenters Union Local 356, Lowell American Legion Post 750, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Beverly, Lowell Moose Lodge, N.F.O., and had been an Adams Township trustee for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Michel Huck, whom he married on May 1, 1954; three sons, Ivan Huck (Cynthia) of Waterford, Patrick Huck (Teresa) of Marietta, and Ronald Huck of Lowell; three daughters, Diana Moore (Bob) of Waterford, Norma Reinstetle (Dan) of Zanesville, and Christine Harris (Mike) of Forest, Va.; 18 grandchildren, Cassie, Matthew, Danielle, Sara, Ashleigh, Brian, Chelsie, Keith, Shawn, Dustin, Brent, Jeremy, Zachary, Amanda, Abbe, Blake, Mackenzie, and Mason; three great-grandchildren, Tyson, Andrew, and Dylan; four sisters, Catherine Arnold of Waterford, Lucy Long of Lowell, Leora Arnold of Marietta and Sophia (Cletus) Schoeppner of Zanesville; two sisters-in-law, Freda Huck of Marietta and Linda Huck of Waterford; a brother-in-law, Dale Cox of Whipple; and his dog, Skippy.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Jo; two brothers, Norbert and Martin; and a sister, Mary Jo.

Funeral liturgy with Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Huffman as celebrant. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with full military rites.

The wedding date has been set for Saturday, May 1, and the ceremony will be read in St. Mary's Catholic church at Fulda.

LOWELL - Howard and Patricia Huck of Lowell will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 2. They were married May 1, 1954, by the Rev. M.A. McNicholas at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Fulda.
The couple have six children: Ivan and his wife, Cindy, of Waterford; Diana and her husband, Robert, of Waterford; Patrick and his wife, Teresa, of Marietta; Ronald of Lowell; Norma and her husband, Dan, of Zanesville; Christine and her husband, Mike, of Duncan, S.C. They also have one deceased infant daughter, Betty Jo Huck.
Their grandchildren are: Cassie, Matthew, Danielle, Sara and Ashleigh Huck; Brian Moore; Chelsie Moore Taylor; Keith, Shawn, Dustin and Brent Huck; Jeremy and Zachary Huck; Mandy Abbe; Blake Reinstetle; and MacKenzie Harris. They also have one great-grandchild, Tyson Moore.
An anniversary open house will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Social Hall in Lowell. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend. The couple request that gifts be omitted; however, cards would be appreciated.

Based on the above anniversary announcement, best guesses have been made as to the married names of Howard and Patricia's daughters, and to which families the grandchildren belong.


Clarence E. Huck

At the time of the 1930 census, Clarence E. Huck (36) and his wife Emma L. (33) owned a farm worth $1000 in Adams Twp., Washington County, Ohio. Living with them were their children, Catherine P. (8), Lucy J. (6), Mary J. (4 yrs 2 mos.), Leora M. (3 yrs 1 mo.), and Howard A. (1). Only Catherine attended school. All members of the household were natives of Ohio, as were their parents. The Huck family did not own a radio set.

SERVICES MONDAY FOR LOWELL WOMAN WITH 124 SURVIVORS (Special to The Signal) Lowell---Funeral services were held here Monday for Mrs. Justine Strahler Huck, 88, of near Lowell who died Friday leaving 124 survivors. Mrs. Huck was born May 10, 1864 the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Strahler. Her husband, John, died in 1832. She was a member of Ohio Lady of Mercy Catholic church where services wee held. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. HUCK was a member of the Catholic Women’s club and of the Altar and Rosary society. Surviving are 11 sons and daughters. Jacob, Clarence and Herbert Huck, Mrs. John Lang and Mrs. George Lang, all of near Lowell; Raymond Huck, Mrs. Albert Brookover and Mrs. Frances Offenberger of near Waterford; Mrs. Loretta Long and Mrs. Walter Brooker of Marietta and Mrs. Emma Engle of Cincinnati; 72 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.


There is some confusion about the children of Justine Strahler Huck listed in her obituary. Joseph is apparently called Jacob, and Eleanora is listed twice: once as Mrs. Albert Brookover and again as Mrs. Walter Brooker.
