In 1850, 35 year old German born farmer "Conrad Wall" lived in Centre Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with his wife Mary (35) and children Catherine (12), George (10), Mary (8), Galana (6), John (3), and Barbara (1). The oldest four children attended school. Conrad's farm was valued at $700.

Leonard Miller

In 1930, Leonard Miller (46) owned a farm worth $3800 in Somerset Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife Anna (35) and children Elouise (16), Helen (15), Arthur (14), Paul (12), Henry (11), and Francis (5). Helen, Arthur, Paul and Henry attended school. The Miller family owned a radio set.


Jacob Reischman

JACOB REISCHMAN CLAIMED BY DEATH
The entire community was saddened Wednesday evening by
the passing of Jacob Reischman. Mr. Reischman had been in ill
health for two years but his illness never became serious until
early spring and he was bedfast for nine weeks. he bore his
suffering in silence, complaining to no one and when his master
called him, he was ready and willing to go.
Mr. Reischman was a kind and loving father and good and honest
citizen and was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors
and friends. He always took an active part in church work. He was
a faithful member of the Catholic church and a member also of the
Holy Name Society in his church. he will be missed by his host of
friends and in his church as well as his family.
Mr. Reischman was born at miltonsburg, May 4, 1858, the second
oldest son of Adam and Madgaline Burkhart Reischman. At the age
of 21, he was married to Mary Wagner who survives. To them 12
children were born, six girls and six boys: Clara Miller of Miltons-
burg; Katherine Brandle of Long Beach, CA;,Urban of Big Valley,
Alberta, Canada; Benjamin of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; Edward,
Tresa and Lucy of Akron; Charles, Annie,William, and Minnie of
in and near Barnesville.
The following brother and sisters survive: Joseph of Wheeling;
Treasa Griffith of Woodsfield; Lane Kress of Alliance; Minnie of
the Convent "Our Lady of the Woods", Pittsburgh, know now as
Sister M. Isabel; and Matilda Hanes of Pemberville, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9:30 at the Church
of the Assumption by Rev. Father Michael Sullivan. Pallbearers were
six grandsons: Herbert Thompson, John Miller, Leo Reischman,
Walter Reischman, Chester Reischman, and William Reischman, Jr.
Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
In his early life Mr. Reischman was engaged in farming, but for
the past fifteen years has lived at 406 West Main Street. He has been
retired from active business for some time.

Elizabeth Ellen Reischman

In 1920, 43 year old widow Lizzie Burkhart lived on a farm that she owned in Malaga Twp., Noble Co., Ohio with four children from her first marriage -- Gertrude (18), Lawrence (17), Celia (15), and Leo (10) -- and a daughter from her second marriage -- Hilda (3).

ELIZABETH POULTON CALLED BY DEATH
Barnesville, O. - Mrs. Elizabeth Ellen Poulton, 73, died in her home at 815 North
Chestnut street Friday morning [30 Dec 1949] following a long illness. Born near
Boston Aug. 17, 1876, she was a daughter of Michael and Mary Wahl Reischman.
Bereaved are five children, Mrs. Marian Stephens of Woodsfield route 3, Mrs.
Alonzo Carpenter of near Lewisville, Lawrence and Leo Miller of Quaker City rural,
and Mrs. Vernon Taylor of Barnesville; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild,
and two brothers, Ed Reischman of Barnesville, and Nick Reischman of Miltonsburg.
She was a member of the Barnesville Church of the Assumption and services will
be held there Monday morning at 10. Rev. Father Rudolph Wargo will be in charge.
Burial will be in Miltonsburg cemetery. The Rosary will be said Sunday evening at 8
in the Campbell funeral home here.

Although her obituary says that Elizabeth Reischman Poulton died at her home in Barnesville, the West Virginia death certificate index states that she died in Wheeling, WV.


Henry Poulton

In 1900, Henry Poulton (46) and his wife Mary (45) rented a farm in Warren Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. Living with them were Bonnett (?) (17), George (14), Clara (12), Zita (9), and Rose (7). The four youngest children attended school. Everyone in the household was born in Ohio, as were Henry and Mary's parents.

Obituary:
Mr. Henry Poulton passed away at his home west of town Monday
afternoon near three o'clock from a complication of diseases and dropsical
condition lasting more than one year. Mr. Poulton was born near Grays-
ville, Monroe County in August 1853 where he lived his early life.
He was married twice, the first time to Mary Levis of Woodsfield,
who died five years ago. To this union seven children were born, six of
whom are living: George Poulton, Barnesville,; M.B. Poulton, Elwood
City, Pa.; Oliver Poulton, Newark, Ohio; Mrs. Clara Rogers, New Castle,
Pa.; Mrs. Ella Slevin, Temperanceville; Mrs. Raymond Boyd, Barnesville.
He was married the second time to Elizabeth Burkhart who with the
above children will survive him. Besides these, he leaves two sisters and
one brother; Mrs, Sarah Mann, Tacoma; Mrs. Ursula Armbruster, Akron,
Michael Poulton, Kent.
Mr. Poulton was a farmer and highly respected. In his religion he was a
Roman Catholic and lived by that faith. Funeral service was held in Barnes-
ville Church of the Assumption Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock conducted
by Rev. J.G. Mehler and burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery.

In 1870, 26 year old Michael Rashman lived on a farm worth $1200 in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with his wife Mary (28) and child Magdelene (1). Their personal possesions were valued at $425. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to George Neuhart and Michael's brother Adam Rashman (Reischman).


John William Reischman

There is a John Reischman born c.1870 living in Malaga Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio in the immediate vicinity of farms belonging to several members of the Reischman family (Michael, Elizabeth, Edward, and Nicholas). This would conflict with the date of death provided by researcher Linda Kay Anderson (1896). The primary source for this date of death is not known.

The John Reischman in the 1920 census has a wife Mary (55), and three children: Rose Mary (18), Gilbert Joseph (14) and Leo S. (9)
