Osslena E. Kress

St. Louis Catholic Church was the scene of a double wedding on Monday morning [16 Sep 1929] when Miss Marie Renier, the daughter of Mrs. Rose Renier became the bride of Oscar R. Bishop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bishop, and Miss Osseline Kress, the daughter of Mrs. Mollie Kress became the bride of Fred W. Roberson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Link Roberson of Anglewood., Tenn.

Rev. Fr. Paul Bucholz performed the ceremony. The brides wore models of white satin, made with a tight basque bodice. The skirts were full with uneven hemlines. Their veils were of tulle with a cap of lace caught with pearls and orange blossoms. They carried shower bouquets of white roses. Esther Samblanet and Eleanor Jane Paumier were flower girls and wore frocks of pink and blue trimmed with lace, and they carried baskets of old-fashioned flowers.

Following the ceremony a dinner and reception was given at 506 Washington avenue to a hundred guests. After an extended motor trip Mr. and Mrs. Bishop will reside in Detroit, Michigan, and Mr. and Mrs. Roberson will reside in Louisville.


Delmar Henry Kress

Obituary:
Delmar H. Kress, age 79, of 506 Washington Ave., Louisville, passed away Saturday, June 3 [1989] at Doctor’s Hospital following a sudden illness at his home. Born at Fulda, OH, June 27, 1909, he had lived in Louisville for 66 years. He was an Industrial Engineer and Vice President of Macombers Structural Steel Co., a World War II Air Corps Veteran, member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisville American Legion Post 548, Louisville K or C Council 2530, VFW Post 3747, and Canton Chapter of AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Schmader) of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Margaret Kress of Louisville; two grandchildren, Ann and Steven of Louisville, two sisters, Mrs. Osselin Roberson of Louisville and Mrs. Alice Larson of LaMesa Calif.; one brother, Vincent Kress of Louisville. He was preceded in death by Nellie and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Louis Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Calling hours were on Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. American Legion and K of C services were also held Tuesday at the funeral home.


Ruth L. Schmader

Obituary:

Ruth L. Kress, age 95, of Louisville, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday May 28, 2006 in the Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center following an extended illness. Ruth was born February 4, 1911 in Lucinda, PA., to the late William J. and Marie (Karcher) Schmader. She was an assistant secretary at St. Louis School, retiring in 1983 following twenty years of service. Ruth was a member of St. Anne’s Altar and Rosary Society, the Columbus Women’s Club and St. Louis Catholic Church.

Ruth is survived by her devoted son, Clifford D. (Margaret) Kress of Louisville and grandchildren, Ann and Steven Kress of Louisville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar H. Kress who passed away in 1989; sisters, Evalyn Fry, Henrietta Schmader and Jane Schmader and a brother, William Schmader.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. Internment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9-10 a.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s Memory to St. Louis Catholic Church or Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center.

Joseph Edward Kress

The couple's wedding announcment appeared in the Louisville Herald, page 1, on 14 Feb 1946:
Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Harrisburg, was the scene of the
marriage February 2 of Miss Maxine Chenevey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Chenevey of Harrisburg to Mr. Joseph Kress, son of Mrs. Millie
Kress of Louisville. Rev. Fr. Ernest Smith officiated and Misses Rita,
Eileen and Betty Haidet presented nuptial music.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was attired in a
white satin gown and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses. Mrs.
Frank Palosi, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor and wore a blue satin
gown. Her other attendant, Mrs. Joseph Balcarcel, wore a pink satin gown.
Both carried colonial bouquets. Miss Teresa Roberson, niece of the groom,
was flower girl and wore a pink marquisette gown. Mr. Vincent Kress was
his brother’s best man and the ushers included Mr. Joseph Balcarcel, Mr.
Bernard Michel, and Mr. Virgil Michel. Mothers of the couple wore black
dresses with white gardenia corsages.
A dinner was served at Yant’s cottage in Canton after which a
reception was held in the school hall at Harrisburg. Refreshments were
served and there was music for dancing in the evening. After the reception
the couple left for a short trip to the northwestern part of the state.
The groom was in service for three and a half years and spent 18
months overseas, receiving his discharge on Christmas day.
The couple is residing at 818 19th st NW, Canton.

Obituary:
Joseph E. Kress, age 61, of 5125 Glenoak Dr., NE Louisville, passed
away Thursday morning March 6 [1980] at Timken Mercy Medical Center
following an extended illness.
Born in Fulda, O., March 19, 1918 he lived in the Louisville area for
57 years and owned and operated the Kress IGA Foodliner at Harrisburg for 32
years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Catholic Order
of Foresters, Court No. 1831, Louisville Knights of Columbus Council 2530,
World War II Army Veteran, holder of the Purple Heart and the Croix de Guerre
Medal of France, and the Alliance DAV Chapter No. 50.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine (Chenevey) of the home, one daughter,
Jane A. Kress of Canton, 4 sons, Daniel J., Thomas E., and James V., all of Canton,
and John L. of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Osselin Roberson of Louisville, and
Mrs. Alice Larson of LaMesa, Calif.; two brothers, Delmar Kress and Vincent
Kress, both of Louisville; three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart
of Mary Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet
Funeral Home Sunday. In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to the Cancer
and the Heart Funds of Stark County. Services were held Sunday for the K of C,
the Foresters and the Alliance DAV.
