William J. Miller

William Miller was a tall thin man. He and Marie had a stormy marriage. After William's death at age 40, the family lost track of Marie and the children. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Dominic Anthony Vacco

In 1930, 34 year old Dominic Vacco lived with his wife, Colitta (27) in a home they owned (value $1500) at 7205 Mingo Street in Pittsburgh (12th Ward, Lincoln Lemington), Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. Living with them were children Albina (12), Lawrence (11), Gloria (5), and Marie (3 yrs 2 mos). According to the census, Dominic and Colitta had been married for about 7 years (The older children were Dominic's from a previous marriage). The three oldest children attended school. Dominic and his parents were born in Italy; Colitta and the children were born in Pennsylvania as was Colitta's mother. According to the census, Colitta's father was born in Italy. Dominic became a naturalized citizen in 1911. Dominic worked as a barber in barber shop. The family did not own a radio.

In "Crock Family History," author Maria Pegnato wrote that her parents met through a music teacher. Dominic played the violin and Coletta played the piano. They literally played beautiful music together.

Dominic Vacco had a barber shop with several relatives. Later, Dominic had a beauty shop. Times were tough during the Depression, but the family got by on love.


Donald Anthony Vacco

Donald Vacco is not married. He lives in Johnstown, PA (2002).


David Conrad Vacco

Dave Vacco never married.


Joseph Scheib

In 1930, Joseph J. Scheib (31) lived with his wife, Elizabeth E. (25) in a home the owned (value $11,000) at 148 Stanton Court in Pittsburgh (10th Ward, Stanton Heights), Allegheny co., Pennsylvania. Living with them was their daughter, Joan E. (2 yrs 8 mos). All members of the family were born in Pennsylvania; Joseph's father in Pennsylvania and his mother in Germany; and Elizabeth's parents in Ohio. Joseph worked as a plumber for the water department. The family owned a radio.


Leo Miller

Leo Miller was a big, handsome man. He was a State Trooper. Leo participated in the Trooper sponsored rodeo. He rode two horses at once, and did tricks on them.

Donald Thomas

From Maria Pegnato:
Donald Miller, was a bright, kind person. The couple initially lived in Manhattan, NY. After their son was born, they moved to Madison, NJ. Donald served in the Air Force in WWII. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. For 37 years, Donald worked as an engineer at Bell Laboratories and held at least two dozen patents on engineering inventions. In 1967, Donald presented a scientific paper in Russia.

Delores and Donald were cautious parents. Maria Pegnato visited them in New York, and helped with the baby. Aunt Delores was mortified to learn that Maria used regular tap water to bathe the baby. Maria also had to stop Donald from sterilizing an orange before he squeezed it for juice.


Dolores Miller

Maria Pegnato says that Delores Miller Thomas had a great sense of humor and was known for wearing big hats.
