Harry B. Flowers

Sources conflict on date of birth:
Mar 1865 -- 1900 census
4 Jan 1868 -- death certificate

In 1900, Harry Flowers (35) and his wife of five years, Maggie (32) lived in Barnesville, Warren Twp., Belmont County, Ohio with their two children Alva (3) and Wilford (2). Harry was employed in a glass works.

In 1910, Harry B. Flowers (41), owned a house at 344 South Gardener St. in Barnesville. He lived there with his wife Margaret (36), their children Alma (13) and Wilfred (11), and his widowed brother-in-law Joseph Burkhard. Both children attended school. Harry was employed as a blower in a window glass factory, and Margaret worked as a cigar roller. Harry and his parents were born in Pennsylvania.

In 1920, Harry (52) and Margaret (45) Flowers owned the house at 344 South Gardener St. in Barnesville. They lived there with their two children, Alma (22) and Wilfred (21). According to the 1920 census, HArry and his mother were born in Pennsylvania, and his father was born in New York. Harry worked as a gatherer in a glass factory. Margaret's brother Joseph Baker lived next door.

At the time of the 1930 census, Harry (64) and Margaret (57) owned the same house (worth $2000) on South Gardener St. with their unmarried son Wilfred (31) and their grandson William Dickson (6), who attended school. Margaret's brother Joseph still lived in the house next door. This time, Harry and his father were born in Pennsylvania, and his mother was born in Ohio. Harry was not employed.

Margaret E. Burkhard

Maggie's date of birth in the 1900 census is questionable. Although the entry (which is legible) reads "Jan 1868" this places her in a different birth order than census enumerations from her childhood. As a child, Margaret is routinely listed as being younger than her brother George. The 1868 date would make her older than George. Also, she does not appear in the 1870 census; and her age in the 1880 census is 8.

By 1910, Margaret had given birth to two children, both of whom were still living.

In 1940, Margaret Burkhard Flowers lived in Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio.

Wilfred C. Flowers

In 1920, 21 year old Wilfred Flowers lived with his parents and sister in Barnesville, Belmonth County, Ohio. Like his father, he worked as a gatherer in a glass factory.

In 1930, Wilfred still lived with his parents. He worked as a machine operator in a foundry.
