Clara K. Reed, age 94 of Malvern, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born July 28, 1914, in Malvern, to the late Andrew and Margaret (Sorg) Singer. Clara was a life resident of Malvern and a 1932 graduate of Malvern High School. She was a life member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was active in the Catholic Women's Club and was a member of the Malvern Historical Society. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Reed; one sister, Mary Schneider; four brothers, Harry, Paul, Walter and the well known artist, Clyde Singer. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and George Tokos of Malvern; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Martha Reed of Malvern; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Internment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services on Thursday at the church (10-11 a.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Organ Fund at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 125 S. Jacob Lehmiller

In 1920, 60 year old widower Jacob Lehmiller lived in the household of his widowed son, Jay. Also living in the house were Jay's children, John, Mary Jane, and Luoise; as well as Jacob's children Ruth (36), Hazel (33), and Karl (18). Jacob was employed as a merchant in a general store. Jacob was born in Indiana, his parents were from Alsace. His children and his late wife were all born in Ohio.

In 1930, Jacob Lehmiller (70) owned a home worth $5000 on Main St. in the North Industry section of Canton, Ohio. Living with him were his daughter Hazel (43), his brother William (75), and Jacob's grandchildren John (17) and Louise (14). The whereabouts of the children's father, Jay, and their sister Mary Jane (15) are not known... they do not appear in the 1930 US Census index. Jacob Lehmiller's usual occupation was hardware merchant, but he was not working at the time of the census. According to the census, his father was born in Ohio, and his mother was from Switzerland.


Ruth Lehmiller

In 1920. 36 year old Ruth Lehmiller lived with the family of her widowed brother Jay (30). Ruth was employed as a high school teacher. Also living in the house were Jay's three children, Ruthl's father, Jacob, and her siblings Hazel and Karl.


Hazel E. Lehmiller

In 1920, 33 year old Hazel Lehmiller lived with the family of her widowed brother Jay (30). Hazel was employed as a housekkeper in a private home. Also living in the house were Jay's three children, Hazel's father, Jacob, and her siblings Ruth and Karl.


Karl Lehmiller

In 1920, 18 year old Karl Lehmiller lived with the family of his widowed older brother Jay (30). Karl attended school during the previous year. Also living in the house were Jay's three children, Karl's father, Jacob, and Karl's two older sisters, Hazel and Ruth.


John J. Lehmiller

In 1930, 17 year old John J. Lehmiller lived in the household of his widowed grandfather, Jacob F. Lehmiller. John attended school that year.


Norma J. Stucker

Obituary:
Norma S. Lehmiller, age 85, of North Industry died unexpectedly Sunday evening in Doctors Hospital, Columbus, OH. Daughter of the late, Howard and Veronica (Kramer) Stucker. She was a life resident of the Canton and North Industry areas. She formerly taught school at McGregor Grade School and was associated with her husband, John in the operation of Lehmiller Hardware. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar/Rosary Society. Charter member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, member of the Canton Bridge Club, and the College Club of Canton.
She was also preceded in death her husband, John Lehmiller in 1999. Survived
by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and George Dillworth of Worthington,
Sally and Fred Ries of Columbus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael
and Susan Lehmiller of Canton, Dr. David and Nancy Lehmiller of Sour Lake,
TX; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one
brother, Frank Stucker of North Canton; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary's
Catholic Church with Fr. Gerald Sommer, M.S.C. and Fr. John Skala as celebrants.
Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday (Tonight) from
6:30-8:30 p.m. in he Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave.

Mary Jane Lehmiller

Obituary:
At the age of 53, Mrs. Jane Lehmiller Patton was pronounced dead on arrival
at Aultman Hospital Saturday evening. Born in North Industry, she had resided
in Des Plaines, Illinois and then returned to North Industry five years ago.
A graduate of Miami University (Ohio), she had done graduate work at Ohio
State University and had formerly been a teacher at Louisville High School and at St.
Joseph’s grade school in Canton. Her husband, Donald B. Patton who preceded her
in death in 1962, had also taught at LHS. She had most recently been associated with
the family in the operation of Lehmiller Hardware in North Industry.
Surviving her is her son, Jeffrey Lee, her father, Jay E. Lehmiller, and her sister,
Louise Lehmiller, all of the home; and one brother, John Lehmiller of North Industry,
and one step-sister, Mrs. Paul (Betty) Davidson of Huntington Beach, Calif.
A Requiem High Mass was sung Wednesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic Church
and burial was in Calvary Cemetery.


Oscar Jacob Singer

In 1910, 23 year old Oscar Singer lived as a lodger in the Eckelberry household at 2601 Kimball St. in Canton's 5th Ward. Although his parents' birthplaces (Pennsylvania and New York) don't match those of Ignatius and Anna Singer (both born in Ohio), most other data in the 1910 census match known facts about Oscar Singer. Oscar's occupation was "dairy man."

In 1913, Oscar J. Singer and his wife Ella were listed at 2601 Kimball in the Canton City Directory. Oscar occupation was "milk dealer,"

In 1920, 32 year old Oscar Singer owned a mortgaged dairy farm on the Cherry St. Extention (sic) in Canton Twp. He lived their with his wife Ella H. (37) and her widowed mother, Anna Buck (60).

In 1930, dairy farmer Oscar J. Singer (43) owned a farm in the North Industry section of Canton, Ohio. He lived there with his wife, Ella H. (48) and Ella's widowed mother, Anna Buck (69). Also living with them were two farm hands, Robert McCauley and John Debisdir (?). There were no children living in the household.


Ella H. Buch

At the time of the 1910 census, 27 year old Ella Buck lived with her parents at 1106 Liberty St. in Canton, Ohio. She was a self-employed music teacher. In 1920, Ella worked as a laborer in the milk business.


John B. Buch

In 1910, John Buck (59) owned a house in a mostlly Italian neighborhood at 1106 Liberty St. in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife of 34 years Annie (50) and daughters Ella (27) and Esther (13). Esther attended school that year. John and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. He worked as a laborer in a planing mill.

In the 1913 Canton City Directory, John and Anna Buch are listed at 2258 Tuscarawas.


Anna Vogel

In 1910, Annie stated that her father was born in the United States, and her mother was from Germany. At that time, four of her six children were still living.

According to the 1920 and 1930 census, Anna and her parents were born in Pennsylvania.

The death certificate of 90 year old Anna Vogel Buch states that she had been a resident of rural Stark County, Ohio for 85 years. The death certificate informant was her daughter, Mrs. O. J. Singer.


Ernest Michael Singer

In 1910,. 18 year old Ernest Singer lived with his parents at 2010 Greenfield St. in Canton, Ohio. He worked as an opener in a rolling mill.

At the time of the 1920 census, Ernest Singer (28) rented a home at 1537 Dublin Ave, in Canton with his wife Lula (27) and daughters Miriam (2) and Doris (1). Ernest worked as a roller in a steel mill. Two doors away in the census was the household of fellow Fulda-descendant George Brahler.

In 1930, 38 year old Ernest M. Singer owned a home worth $7000 at Bellflower Ave. SW in the 9th Ward of Canton, Stark County, Ohio. Living with him were his wife Lula (37), and children Miriam (13), Doris (11), Robert (8), Jean (6), and Ernest's unmarried aunt Lena Singer (39).(Lena was the half-sister of Ignatius Singer; the youngest child of their father Jacob Singer Jr.) Miriam, Doris, and Robert attended school. The Singer family owned a radio set. Ernest was employed as a roller in a steel mill. Ernest was not a veteran.
