Leo Koeberle

At the time of the 1930 census, Leo Koeberle (36) owned a home worth $5000 at 157 Fulton St. in Akron, where he lived with his wife Delora (36), their sons Robert (8), Gerald (6), Thomas (4 yrs 8 mos) and James (1 yr 4 mos), as well as Delora's parents Alonzo (67) and Minnie (66) Martin. The two oldest boys attended school. Leo was employed as a machine operator in a rubber plant. Everyone in the house was a native of Ohio, as were their parents.


Frederick F. Haren Jr.

Frederick Jr. found on 1900 Ohio Census Index at age 27 yrs. in Monroe Co. Malaga Twp. along with an Edward Miller (Boarder). Death Certificate # 66038. Volume # 4030. Death information found on Ohio State Death Certificate Index (1913 - 1937). Death record sent from St. Sylvester's Church by Father Frederick C. Kihm. Agnes Pfeffer

The following note appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder 18 Sep 1952:
FORMER RESIDENT OF BARNESVILLE DIES
BARNESVILLE, O., Sept 17 - Mrs. Agnes Pfeffer Lucas,
79, former resident of this city, died Wednesday [17 Sep 1952]
at her home in Sunbury. She and her husband at one time
owned the Lucas farm west of here where the Barnesville Air-
port is now located.
Mrs. Lucas was born August 3, 1873, in Temperance-
ville, the daughter of Joseph and Kuniginda Pfeffer.
Surviving are her husband, Orion Lucas of Sunbury; five
sisters, Mrs. Lena Brown, Mrs. John Gallagher, Mrs. Joseph
Hughes and Mrs. Dan Gallagher, all of Quaker City Rt. 4, and
Mrs. Harlan Hunt of Bethesda, and two brothers, Dan Pfeffer
and E. J. Pfeffer, both of Quaker City Rt. 4.
The body will arrive at the Campbell funeral home
Thursday morning.
Funeral services will be conducted at the St. Mary
Catholic church at Temperanceville Friday morning at 10
o’clock with Father Swindeman officiating. Burial will be in
the St. Sylvester cemetery in Woodsfield.

Benjamin Aloysius Haren

Benjamin was the proprietor of the Eagle (Haren) hotel from 1902 until it was destroyed by fire. Prior to that time, it was owned and operated by Ben along with his father Frederick Haren Sr. The hotel was originally built around 1880 and operated by Mr. George Burkhart until 1898. The hotel was located on South Paul Street. Ben, along with his cousin Charles Haren, also operated a clothing store on the public square in Woodsfield, Monroe, Ohio next to Armstrong's Corner. Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grave A, Section 5, Lot 848. Died at age 60. Funeral Director: Hummel.

Orville Wilbur Burkhart

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):

Orville W. (Harve) Burkhart, 88, 36867 Ohio 260 Marr, died
Tuesday, December 2, 1997 at the Monroe County Care Center,
Woodsfield. He was born in Monroe County, September 23, 1909,
a son of the late John C. and Elizabeth Burkhart.
He was a retired farmer and member of St. Henry Catholic Church
at Harriettsville, an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Eagle Lodge
2302 Woodsfield, a life member of VFW Post 5303 Woodsfield and DAV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha
Warner Burkhart; three brothers, Ernest, Harold, and Paul; a grandson.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Woodsfield and Dwight of Columbus
; two daughters, Mrs. Tyson (Susie) Carpenter of Waynesville, NC., and
Mrs. Terry (Clarice) Est of Columbus; a sister Colletta Ackerman of Colum-
bus; five grandchildren.
Friends will be received today, 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bauer-Turner
Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Funderal ligurgy with Mass will be celebrated
Friday at 10;30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, with the Rev. Victor
Cinson officiating. Burial follows in St. Henry Church Cemetery with full
military graveside services. Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at
the funeral home.Memorial Contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society, Woodsfield.


Martha Ann Warner

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):

Martha A. Burkhart, 79, of Ohio 260, Rinard Mills, Ohio, died Sunday
at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic
Church, Harriettsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and
Minnie Hohman Warner; four brothers; a sister. Surviving are her husband,
Orville Burkhart of Rinard Mills; two sons, Thomas Burkhart of Woodsfield
and Dwight Burkhart of Columbus; two daughters, Sylvia Carpenter of Venice,
FL and Clarice West of Gahanna, Ohio; three brothers, Joseph, Alfred and
Bernard Warner all of Columbus; five grandchildren.
Friends received at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, 2-4 and 6-8
p.m. today. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic
Church, Harriettsville. Interment in St. Henry Catholic Church Cemetery. Vigil
Service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
