Ralph F. Schaad

Accroding to an article in the Zanesville Signal, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schaad of Waterford attended the annual Schott reunion on Sunday, July 30, 1933 at the fairgrounds in Marietta, Ohio. (See notes of Jacob Schott for a complete list of attendees.) Ralph Schaad did not marry Ann Pelman until 1949. It is not known if he had a wife prior to Ann Pelman.

The following appeared in the Zanesville Signal on June 24, 1939: SON HURT Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaad have received word that
their son, Ralph, of Waterford, was seriously injured when
kicked by a horse. A blood transfusion was necessary be-
cause of internal injuries.

Ralph Schaad and his cousin, Paul Schaad died on the same day. It is not known if the deaths were linked or if this is a coincidence.

Clarence William Arnold

Clarence Arnold of Churchtown attended the annual Schott reunion on Sunday, July 30, 1933 at the fairgrounds in Marietta, Ohio. See notes of Jacob Schott for a complete list of attendees.

An article on page 12 of the The Zanesville Times Recorder on 25 Aug 1938 titled "Ruppel Family Reunion" lists attendees "Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Arnoldson (sic), Ralph and Gene Arnold [of] Waterford."


Hilda Josephine Schaad

The following Wedding announcement appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on Oct 10, 1935: SCHAAD-ARNOLD Miss Hilda Schaad, Lowell, and Clarence Arnold,
Churchtown, were married Tuesday morning at Our
Lady of Mercy Catholic church, Lowell. Mrs. Arnold is
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaad, and Mr.
Arnold is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Arnold,
Churchtown. The will be at home soon on a farm
near Watertown.


Obituary:
WATERFORD - Hilda Josephine Arnold, 89, of
Waterford died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday (July 10,
2003) at the Arbors at Marietta. She was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Adams Town-
ship, Lowell, to Peter and Mary Fohl Schaad. She
was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church and the Catholic Women's Club. She
was also a member of the Churchtown Senior
Citizens. She was known as an excellent care-
giver. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Kern
and her husband, Norbert, of Waterford; five sons,
Ralph Arnold and his wife, Ann, of Clarksville,
Tenn., Richard Arnold and his wife, Shelba, of
Waterford, Regis Arnold and his wife, Nancy, of
Waterford, Edwin E. Arnold and his wife, Lois, of
Waterford, and David W. Arnold and his wife, Jean,
of Lowell; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;
and one sister, Viola Arnold of Beverly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clar-
ence Arnold, on Aug. 8, 1998. They had been married
on Oct. 8, 1935. She was also preceded in death by
one grandson, Mike Arnold; one sister; and three
brothers. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be conducted at 10
a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
with the Rev. Frederick Kihm as celebrant. Burial will
be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley
& Peoples Funeral Homes, where there will be a vigil
service at 3 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the St.
John's School Foundation, Route 2, Box 383, Marietta,
Ohio 45750. Envelopes will be available at the funeral
home.


Andrew W. Arnold Jr.

In 1920, Andrew Arnold (49) and his wife Louisa (32) owned a farm in Watertown, Washington Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children, Francis J. (9), Clarence W. (8), Hilda M. (6), Eugene J. (3 yrs 6 mos), and Anne E. (1yr 6 mos), as well as Andrew's unmarried sister, Mary T. Arnold (38). The oldest three children attended school. Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio. Andrew's parents were German, and Louisa's were from Ohio. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to William Eichmiller and Earnest Wagner.

At the time of the 1930 census, Andrew (59) and Louise (43) Arnold still owned a farm in Watertown Twp. where they lived with their children Clarence (18), Hilda (16), Eugene (13), Vincent (9), Herbert (7), Gilbert (5), and Herman (3) and Andrew's unmarried sister, Mary (50). Hilda, Eugene, Vincent and Herbert attended school. Everyone in the household was born in Ohio, as were Louise's parents. Andrew and Mary's parents were from Germany.

40th: Edwin, Lois Arnold

WATERFORD - Edwin “Ed” and Lois Arnold of Waterford will
celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on June 22. They were married June 22, 1968, at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church in Churchtown by the late Monsignor Charles
Highland. Arnold is the son of the late Clarence and Hilda
Arnold and Mrs. Arnold is the daughter of the late Raymond
and Doris Pitzer. The couple have three children: Scott of Houston, Texas;
Lori (Ray) Smithberger of Avon, Conn; and Stacey of Eagles-
ville, Pa. They also have two granddaughters, Morgan and Carly
Smithberger.
