Clara T. Thompson

Clara did not live with her parents at the time of the 1930 census.

George Anslem Burkhart

Sources conflict on date of birth. Researcher Betty Hartley gives 20 Mar 1871 as George's birthdate. The same date is given on George's death certificate. However, he is listed as a two-month old child in the 1870 census along with his parents and older siblings. The 1870 census was taken in June of that year.

In 1910, George Burkhart (35) owned a mortgaged farm in Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife of 12 years, Eugenie (27) and their two daughters, Minnie (11) and Clara (2). Neither girl attended school. According to the census, George's father was born in Germany, and his mother was born in Ohio. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Theodore Spangler and Joseph Burkhart. There are several other Burhhart families listed on the same page of the census. The relationship between George Burkhart and the other Burkhart families is not known at this time. George's parents may be Wendell (77) and Lena (68) Burkhart, who lived next door with their son, Joseph. Eugenia's parents lived a few doors away.

The cause of death listed on George Burkhart's death certificate was "shot with a shot gun accidentally by self."

Eugenia M. Dick

According to the 1910 census, Eugenia Dick Burkhart had given birth to only two children, both of whom were living with the family at the time of the census.

In 1920, 37 year old widow Eugenia M. Burkhart owned a farm in Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio where she lived with her two daughters, Minnie M. (20) and Ida C. (12). Ida attended school. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Joseph P. Burkhart and Simon Kuhn. Eugenia's parent's lived a few doors away.
