Leo Francis Reischman

In 1930, farmer Leo Reischman (36) and his wife Clara (37) owned a farm worth $1100 in Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio where they lived with their children Joseph (13), Mary (10), Dorothy (9), Donald (9), Bernard (7), and Robert (1 yr 6 mos.). All the children attended school except Robert. The Reischman family did not own a radio set.


Donald Frederick Reischman

Donald Reischman was a resident of Wadsworth, Medina Co., OH at the time of his death. He was married, but his wife's name is not known at this time.

Joseph Paul Reischman
Dec. 7, 1917 - Oct. 2, 2007
Former longtime Sonora resident Joseph Paul Reischman died Oct. 2 at a Stockton care home. He was 89.
Mr. Reischman was born in Miltonsburg, Ohio, and graduated from Woodsfield High, in Woodsfield, Ohio. At age 17, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in Montana. He was married in 1940 and he and his wife Virginia moved to Stockton in 1942 where he worked at the Stockton Airfield as a civilian during World War II earning numerous commendations and awards. In 1948, Mr. Reischman and business partner Bill Smith opened Glass Service in Lodi, now Lodi Glass Service. He later worked for Don Blair Lumber Company and then as a representative for Equitable Life Assurance Society. In 1962, he and his wife moved to Sonora after purchasing Gohrman Glass and renamed the business Sierra Glass. He was a state-licensed contractor for over 55 years. Mr. Reischman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His faith was very important to him and he volunteered as an usher at St. Gertrude Church in Stockton, and later at St. Patrick Church in Sonora for forty-five years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Reischman.
He is survived by children and their spouses, Kathryn and Frank Salady of Stockton, Beverly and Joe Hall of Mission Viejo, and Lynn and Tom Howell of Sonora; grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony and Carrie Salady, Denise and John Colosi, Rachele and James Lorentzen, Charla and Steve Kehl and Sheila Howell and Joe Shaner; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bernard Reischman of Placerville and Robert Reischman of Manteca; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services have been held.
A donation in his name may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 116 West Bradford Ave., Sonora, CA 95370.

Phillip William Kahrig

Phillip Kahrig's obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 20 Nov 1967:

LEWISVILLE MAN LEAVES 126 SURVIVORS
WOODSFIELD -- Phillip W. Kahrig, 87 year old retired Monroe County farmer,
died at his home near Lewisville at 9 a.m. Saturday [Nov 18] leaving 126 survivors.
He had been in declining health. Mr. Kahrig was a member of the United Church
of Christ near Lewisville. He was born May 6, 1890, a son of Ludwig and Catherine
Getler Kahrig.
Surviving are his widow, Louise, six sons, Larence, Alfred, and George, all of Lewis-
ville Route 1, Edwin of Marietta, and Benjamin and Homer of Salesville; four daughters,
Mrs. Alva christman of Calais, Mrs. Marie Broooks of Mantua, Mrs. Clem Reischman
of Barnseville, and Mrs. Robert Walters of Marietta, a brother, Fred, of Woodsfield; and
51 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m.
Tuesday. Rev. Wilmer Grunwald will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Church Cemetery
near Lewisville. Friends may call at the funeral home.
