Mary Josephine Grady

Obituary from the Canton Repository, 16 Mar 2001:
Mary Chickie Maloney, age 87, passed away on Wednesday at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville after a brief illness. Mrs. Maloney was a long time Canton resident. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was on the finance committee and a member of St. John's Guild. Mrs. Maloney was very active in the community. She was a board member of the Catholic Community League, was on the Steering Committee for Right to Life and the Timken Mercy Service League. A Grey Lady for 13 years, Chickie served at Timken-Mercy and Aultman Hospitals. She had over 1000 hours of service for the Red Cross. She was also a board member for 17 years at St. Joseph's Hospice in Louisville. She was a former member of Brookside Country Club.
Mrs. Maloney was the widow of George P. Maloney, long time automobile dealer in Canton. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Michael Myers of Massillon, and Mary Jo and Rick Borton of Louisville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chip and Weedgie Maloney of Saratoga, CA, Michael and Elena Maloney of San Antonio, TX, and Kevin and Tina Maloney of Dublin, OH; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Harriet Teuffel of Louisville and Polly and
Julius Thurin of Spokane, WA; and a brother and three sisters-in-law, Tom and
Betty Grady of St. Clairsville, OH, Bernice Grady of Canton and Mildred Grady
of North Canton; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a
sister, Rose Vensel, and two brothers, Michael P. and Robert E. Grady.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 12 noon in St. John's Catholic
Church with Fr. Ronald Klingler as Celebrant. The procession will form at the church.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call Friday (tonight) 6-9 p.m. at
the Lamiell Funeral Home. St. John's Guild will have a prayer service tonight at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic charities.

Esophageal atresia is a congenital medical condition (birth defect) which affects the alimentary tract. It causes the esophagus to end in a blind-ended pouch rather than connecting normally to the stomach. In the case of George Maloney, there was a fistula (opening) between the esophogus and the trachea, according to his death certificate.
