| This picture of Jacob Singer, Jr. is believed to have
been taken c. 1870-1875. Jacob was the son of Franz Jacob
and Magdelena (Zwick) Singer. Jacob has nearly 200 known
descendants. Portions of Jacob's jacket have been retouched
in the photo below.
A handwritten note on the back of the tintype photo says "Jacob
Singer III." (Although Jacob's grandfather was named Franz
George Singer, some sources suggest that he went by the name
