Vernon R. Sorg

It is believed that Bernard Sorg (from the 1930 census) and Vernon Sorg (from his mother's death notice) are the same person.

Obituary from the Canton Repository:

CALDWELL -- Vernon R. Sorg, 75, of Sarahsville, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Dyer Sorg; one son, Tom (Frances) Sorg; two daughters, Kayleen (Mike) Kendall and Lynn (Odell) Barton; one brother, Rupert (Lydia Ann) Sorg Jr.; three sisters, Betty Warner, Irene (Don) Ferguson and Luella (Roscoe) Tilton; one sister-in-law, Mary Sorg; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with evangelist Paul Hoover officiating. Interment will be in East Union Cemetery.

Vernon R. Sorg, age 75, of Sarahsville, died Saturday August 28, 2004 at his home.
He was born July 7, 1929 in Noble County, a son of the late Rupert and Audrey Davison Sorg. He retired in 1989 from the Ohio Power Company with 20 years of service and was a member of the Summerfield Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Glen Sorg, in 1951, and one brother, Darrel Sorg.
He is survived by his wife Jane Ann Dyer Sorg, whom he married on December 15, 1948; one son, Tom (Frances) Sorg of Sarahsville; Kayleen (Mike) Sorg) of Urbana and Lynn (Odell) Barton of Alaska; one brother, Rupert (Lydia Ann) Sorg Jr., of Marysville; three sisters: Betty Warner of Summerfield; Irene (Don) Ferguson of Florida and Luella (Rosco) Tilton of Caldwell; one sister-in-law, Mary Sorg of Sarahsville; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home on Monday, August 30, from 4-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with evangelist Paul Hoover officiating. Interment will be in East Union Cemetery.

Darrel Sorg was married at the time of his death. Names of his children (if any) are not known.


Alden D. "James" Tilton

Alden :Jimmy” Tilton’s obituary appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 25 Jan 1968:
Alden D. (Jimmy) Tilton, 73, of Caldwell, a former Noble County welfare director, died at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 23) at Bethesda Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 18, 1894, in Noble County, a son of Orrin and Adeline Blake Tilton.
He is survived by four sons, Frank Tilton of Inverness Fla., Gene and Richard Tilton, both of Columbus, and Roscoe Tilton of Caldwell, two daughters, Mrs. Betty Smith of Cambridge and Mrs. Katie Schilling of Columbus; nine grandchildren. His wife, the former Clara Poling, a son, Albert, and a daughter, Ronnie, are deceased.
Friends may call at McVay Funeral Home at Caldwell 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Benton Cochrane officiating. Burial will be in Dudley Cemetery.


Candace Ann Vaughn

Birth announcement published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 15 Mar 1952:

The daughter born in Bethesda hospital to Mr. and
Mrs. Jack W. Vaughn of 2025 Hoge avenue has been
named Candace Ann Vaughn. The grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sorg of Lancaster, Bernard Vaughn
of Curtis street and Mrs. Marguerite Pennell of the East
pike. Ambrose Noll of Canton and Mrs. Carrie Vaughn
of South Zanesville are great-grandparents.

SUMMERFIELD -- Ralph Hannahs of Circleville spent the weekend with his
wife and son here. Other guests at the Hannahs home, were her mother, Mrs.
Francis Sorg of Lancaster, Mary Lou Sorg and Jimmey Goldey of Dayton.


Freda Christine Sorg

The following birth announcement appeared in the Zanesville (OH) Signal on July 2, 1929: Mr. and Mrs. Francis sorg, Route No. 2, announce the birth
of a daughter Freda Christine on June 27.

The following caption accompanied a photograph of Freda Sorg that appeared in The Zanesville (OH) signal on May 9, 1947:
Miss Freda Sorg has been named salutatorian for com-
mencement exercises at Summerfield high school, while
Miss Dorothy Ann Sorg will serve as valedictorian. Freda is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sorg. Dorothy Ann is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sorg. Other members
of the senior class are J.O. Carpenter, Jr., Richard Crum.
Ward Cunningham, Donald Franks, Carroll Guiler, George
Horton, Leland Leasure, Paul Ritterbeck, and Alfred Warner.

(Freda Sorg and Dorothy Ann Sorg were second cousins)

The following wedding announcement, accompanied by a picture of the bride, appeared in the Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) on September 26, 1954: MRS. FRANK LASURE (nee Freda Sorg) wore a becoming
gown of white nylon tulle with a scroll design accentuating the
hemline of the skirt for her Sept. 4 wedding in St. Mary's Catholic
church in Lancaster, O. She and her husband are now residing
at 482 Warwick avenue after a brief wedding trip. The new Mrs.
Lasure is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sorg of Lancaster
and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Lasure
of Warwick avenue. The bride is employed at Ohio Bell Telephone
company here while her husband is an employe (sic) of Moore's
Gulf Service Station on Frazeysburg road.


Virginia L. Sorg

The following birth announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on December 11, 1937. Undergoes Operation Mrs. Francis Sorg who underwent a Caesarian operation in Memorial hospital Marietta Thursday is the mother of a seven-pound daughter. Dr. Williams of Marietta and Dr. Ditch of Caldwell performed the operation. Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Noll and Fulda and (sic)Cain Sorg of Carlisle are grandparents of the new arrival.
