Edward Leo Gonder

In 1910, Herman Reischman (28) lived with his wife Antoinette (25) on a mortgaged farm in Canton Twp., Stark Co., Ohio. Living with them was Antoinette's brother Victor Weilandt (23). (There is a note on the census form indicating that Herman and Victor were equal partners in the farm). Herman and Antoinette had been married for 2 years. All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Herman's and Antoinette's mothers, their fathers were born in Germany.

On 12 Sep 1918, 26 year old Herman William Reischman filled out a draft registration card. He listed himself as a self-employed farmer living on RD 5 in Canton, Ohio. Next of kin was his wife, Nettie G. Reischman. Herman is described on the registration card as being a tall man of medium build with gray eyes and brown hair.

At the time of the 1920 census, 37 year old Herman Heischman (sic) and his wife Antoinette (35) owned a farm in Canton Twp., Stark Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Harold V. (9) and Lelah C. (7) and Antoinette's brother Victor Weilandt (33). According to Victor's occupation, he has a partnership in the farm. Both children attended school.

In 1930, Herman and Antionette Reischman owned farm on Warner road Extension in Canton Twp., Stark Co., Ohio. Also living in the household were their children Harold (19) and Lela K. (17) Lela attended school; Harold worked as a truck driver for a bakery. The family owned a radio. Listed immediately before Herman on the census sheet is Antoinette's brother Victor Weilandt and his wife Kathryn. (The fact that the visit number is the same for the two families indicates that they lived together.)

Otto was born in Pennsylvania and the rest of the family in Ohio; Otto's father was born in Germany, his mother in Ohio; Mary's parents were both born in Ohio.

Otto Reischman's obituary appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on November 8, 1960. BARNESVILLE -- Otto J. Reischman Sr., 70, of Bethesda
street extension, died at his home at 4:20 p.m. Monday of a
heart attack. A retired famer and school, he was born May 15, 1890 at
Braddock, Pa., the son of Mathias and Barbara Reischman. Mr. Reischman was a member of the Chuch of the Assump-
tion here and its Holy Name society. Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth of the home; two daughters,
Mrs. Davida Wattt of Kent and Mrs. Ann Milen of Columbus;
three sons, Otto Jr., of Painesville, Eugene and Michael, both
of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Luella Gonders
of Canton. The body was removed to Campbell Funeral Home here where
friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday and where the Rosary will
be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Fr. John Reardon will conduct services in the Church
of the Assumption at 10 a.m. Thursday with burial in the Catholic
Cemetery.

Clayton O. Gregory, age 89, died Sunday evening in South Broadway Nursing Home, New Philadelphia, OH following an extended illness. Born in Magnolia, OH, he had resided here since 1972. Mr. Gregory was a retired service station owner and a member of the AARP. Preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Gregory, in 1992. Survived by daughter, Ilene Gregory of North Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Elizabeth Gregory of Dellroy, OH; two grandchildren, Bret Gregory of Denver, CO and Ronnane (Gregory) Keiffer of Canton; two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two step grandchildren. Private graveside services were held on Tuesday in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Those who desire, may make memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, 420 Market Ave. S., Canton, OH 44702. The Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In 1930, 27 year old Paul Reischman and his wife Mildred (26) lived in the home of Mildred's father Thomas Taylor and his wife Liddy. Paul and Mildred had been married for about 1 year. Paul worked as a truck driver for a dairy and Mildred worked as a bookkeeper for the farm bureau. All members of the household were born in Ohio. They owned a radio.


Nelson Edwin Reischman

On 12 Sep 1918, Nelson Edward Reishman filled out a draft registration card. He gave his place of birth as Hendrysburg, Belmont County, Ohio. His next of kin was Mabel Reishman. His occupation was "farmer" and his employer was A. J. Reishman of Hendrysburgh. According to the draft registration card, Nelson was a tall man of medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. Although the entire card appears to be filled out in the same handwriting, there is no "c" in Reischman execept for the signature at the bottom. The name is indexed as Reischman.

Nelson Reischman served in the US Army during the first World War. From his record below, it does not appear that he was sent to Europe.
