William John Hupp

In 1920, 16 year old William Hupp lived with his parents and younger brother on Eastman St. in Zanesville, Ohio. William was employed as a laborer for a pottery company.

William Hupp got himself into a bit of trouble in 1926, as reported by the Zanesville Times Recorder on 24 May 1926 (pg 2)
CARTER ON JOB HANDLES TRAFFIC JAM WHEN FIRE ALARM SOUNDS
Much favorable comment was heard from motorists last Friday night when
Patrolman Harry Carter played his former role of traffic officer at Sixth and
Main streets, just after a fire alarm had been sounded from Linser’s brewery.
The alarm was sounded about 10 o’clock, after the traffic lights had been
turned off for the night. Carter was on duty at the busy corner at the time and
jumped into the breech when traffic became jammed by motorists in attempting
to avoid the fire trucks.
Without his trusty whistle to signal motorists, Carter was almost lost for a
moment, but by gesticulations, the motorists finally started moving and within a
brief time, traffic had been cleared and was moving in regular order once again.
Regardless of traffic lights and rules governing the operation of the same, the
old way of handling traffic is the best after all.
The alarm was said to have been turned in by four young fellows, one of whom,
William Hupp, 23, will be arraigned in municipal court Monday morning on three
affidavits filed by W. Hall Tanner, fire chief. The other three boys will likely be
tried in juvenile court later in the week.

At the time of the 1930 census, William still lived with his parents. He worked as a dipper for an art pottery company.
