FORMER MAYER OF BRADDOCK DEAD AT 72 Braddock Council President Evelyn Benzo said Friday the death of KennethC. Poeschl was a great loss to the community. Poeschl, who was vice president of the council and former mayor of theAllegheny County borough, died of cancer Thursday at UPMC Braddock.
He was 72. "He will be greatly missed because he did so much for so long," Benzo said."We knew he was fighting the battle. He kept going through the treatment,and he kept coming back." Poeschl was a community-minded man "who put action behind his words,"
Benzo said. "He just went about doing what needed to be done." Poeschl was mayor for three years in the early 1980s. He was a scoutmaster
with Boy Scout Troop 65 and a member of the Braddock Lions Club. He also

In 1930, John Miller, age 16, lived with his parents and siblings in the family home on Stokes Ave. in North Braddock, PA. He was employed as a messenger in an electric plan.
The John Miller family moved from North Braddock to Swissvale in 1950.
John Miller worked for more than 40 years for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in East Pittsburgh. He started off in the mail room (messenger?) and worked his way up to a position as a Senior Cost Accountant. He did a considerable amount of work figuring out the cost of construction for the Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine ever built.

John A. Miller, age 89, on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. Mr. Miller was
born June 3, 1913, in North Braddock, to the late Frank and Mary Miller. He
was a retired cost accountant for the Westinghouse Corp., and a member of St.
Anselm Church in Swissvale. He was the loving father of Nadine Negley and
her husband, Earl, James Miller and his wife, Carolyn, Edward Miller and his
wife, Julia, Robert Miller and his wife, Terry, and the late John. Also survived
by nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Brother of Geraldine Baldige
and Ben and Joe Miller. Friends received Wednesday only from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home Inc., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Anselm Church.
Interment, Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Braddock Hills.
Tom and Harriet Kehoe lived on Stokes Ave. in North Braddock. They later moved to Kirkpatrick St. in North Braddock. Tom worked on the Union Railroad as a conductor.
In 1950, Ed moved with his parents and siblings from their home in North Braddock, Allegheny Co., PA to a home his parents purchased at 7129 Schoyer Ave., Swissvale, Allegheny Co., PA. He lived there for the next 21 years, except for a 2 year period while in the US Army stationed in Furth, Germany. Ed attended St. Anselm grade school and high school and went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University. He received his BS Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. Upon graduating from Pitt, he accepted a position in the Ventilation Division of the Pittsburgh Safety Technology Center, United States Bureau of Mines. He worked for the USBM and its successor agencies (Mining Enforcement and Safety Administration and the Mine Safety and Health Administration) until his retirement.
Upon his graduation from Pitt, Ed married Julia Maria Nicolazzo who was working as a Pediatric Nurse at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following their marriage in 1971, Edward and Julia Nicolazzo Miller rented an apartment on Todd Street, Wilkensburg, Allegheny Co., PA. They lived in this apartment until September of 1973 when they purchased a home at 539 Deborah Jane Dr., Plum Borough, Allegheny Co., PA. They lived in this home in Plum Borough and attended St. John the Baptist Church for the next 22 years. Their children all attended St. John's School. Ed and Julie placed high importance on the education of their children and permitted each of them to select which high school they would attend. The boys both chose to attend Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and Christie decided to attend Plum Borough High School. All three children attended college.
In September 1995, Ed accepted a transfer to his agency's headquarter sand moved to Virginia. At that time, Kevin was living with them, Scott was in school at Lehigh University and Christie was attending Dayton University. They lived for the next two years in a home on Briton Court, Lakeridge, Prince William Co., Virginia.
In September 1997, they returned to the Pittsburgh area when Ed again accepted a transfer to the position of Chief of the Pittsburgh Safety and Health Technology Center, Mine Safety and Health Administration, U. S. Department of Labor. They purchased a home in Harrison City, Westmoreland Co., PA.
On June 5, 1917, 25 year old self employed farmer Joseph Huck, Jr. (dob: September 14, 1891, pob: Lowell, Ohio) of Lowell, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registrtion card, he was maried and had a child. His physical description is given as medium height, slender build, with blue eyes and black hair.
In 1930, Joseph Huck (38) owned a farm in Adams Township, Washington County, Ohio. Living with him were his wife Ida C. (35) and children John W. (12), Walter J. (11), Rita M. (8), Margaret M. (6), Gertrude E. (3 yrs 6 mos)and Mildred I. (1 yrs 2 mos). The three oldest children attended school. Everyone in the household was born in Ohio. as were their parents. The family did not own a radio set. Several other members of the Huck family lived nearby.
