William Jennings Burkhart

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):
William J. Burkhart, 61, of Williams Boulevard, Steubenville, died Friday in Ohio
Valley Hospital, Steubenville. An iron construction worker, he was a Catholic and
an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Johnson Burkhart; his mother, Marjorie Mahoney
Burkhart of Steubenville; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Sarah) Milhoan of Tallmadge; three
brothers, Charles of Mansfield, Thomas and Joseph both of Barnesville.
Friends are being received at the McClave-Chandler-Mills Funeral Home, Steubenville,
today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial
will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.


Dorothy Castello

Obituary
Dorothy A. Burkhart, 71, of Barnesville died Monday, May 19, 2003, at
Barnesille Hospital. She was born July 22, 1931 in Barnesville, the daughter
of the late Pete and Lela Dyer Castello. She was a retired presser for the former
Jonathan Logan and Barnesville Manufacturing and a member of I.G.L.W. and
the Barnesville Assembly of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph
A. Burkhart, two sisters, Ruth Trimmer and Nancy Lambert, three brothers,
Wayne, Don and Bob Castello.
Surviving are four sons - Terry Castello and wife Joyce, Bradley Burkhart, and
Robert Burkhart all of Barnesvill, and Mark Burkhart and his wife Angela of
Somerton; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Tammy) Hamilton of Barnesville; two sisters-
Bonnie Hickenbottom of Newcomerstown, Oh and Irene Adair of Seneca Lake; a
brother, Buck Castello of Sandusky, Oh; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Friends will be received today, Wednesday, May 21, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the
Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be held
Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev Robert Kester officiating. Interment will follow in
Crestview Cemetery.

ROBERT J. ‘BOBBY’ BURKHART 1954-2004
BARNESVILLE - Robert J. "Bobby" Burkhart, 50,
of Barnesville, died Monday (May 3, 2004) at The
Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born Feb. 13, 1954, in Barnesville, son
of the late Joseph A. and Dorothy (Castello) Burkhart.
He leaves three brothers, Terry (Joyce) Castello
and Bradley Burkhart,both of Barnesville, and Mark
(Angie) Burkhart of Somerton; and a sister, Mrs. Mike
(Tammy) Hamilton of Barnesville.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at
Campbell-Plumly-MilburnFuneral Home, Barnesville,
where services will follow at 2 p.m. with theRev. Robert
Kester officiating.
Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.

Charles E Downey appeared on the census of 11 June 1880 in the household of John Edward Downey at Clayton Twp, Perry, OH.

From the census of 19 June 1900 at Dwelling 142, Reading Twp, Perry, OH; Charles, Dec 1871, 28, M. 2 yrs, OH IRE OH Teacher 4, Rents Melda, Feb 1877, 23, M. 2 yrs, Mother of 1, 1 living, OH OH OH Viola, Apr 1899, 1, OH OH OH.4

In 1910, Charles (38) and Imelda (33) Downey owned a farm on Somerset Rd. in Clayton Twp., Perry Co., OH where they lived with their four children Viola E. (10), Pauline F. (9), Charles R. (6), and Joseph L. (less than 1 month). Charles' father and mother were born in Ireland and Ohio, respectively.

In 1930, Charles E. Downey lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Viola and Arthur McCabe, in Columbus, OH. Charles is listed as being married, but no wife is present in the household. (His first wife died in 1927.) No occupation is listed for Charles.

Obituary:
Charles E. Downey, age 94, retired farmer, Wednesday, at home of
a daughter, Mrs. Viola McCabe, 37 Meadowlark Lane. Also survived by
1 other daughter, Mrs. Pauline Bennett of New Lexington, Ohio; 2 sons,
Charles and Lawrence, both of San Jose, Calif; 9 grandchildren; 36 great-
grandchildren; brother, Frank T. Downey; sister, Mrs. Robert Metzger, both
of Columbus. Member of St. Michael Church, Holy Name Society and
Whetstone Senior Citizens. Requiem Mass 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Michael
Church. Graveside service, 12 noon, Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somerset, Ohio.
Friends will be received at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High
Street, Worthington, Ohio 7-9 p.m. Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Rosary
7:30 p.m. Friday.
