In 1920, Herman (26) and Elizabeth C. Burkhard (28) rented part of a home at 202 17th Street in Wellsville, Columbiana County, Ohio. Herman was a self-employed retail grocer. No children lived in the household.

At the time of the 1930 census, Herman J. (35) and Elizabeth (29) owned a home worth $2500 in Wellsville. Herman worked as a foreman in a sheet mill. There were still no children in the home. Like most of their neighbors, the Burkharts owned a radio set.

According to the Ohio online death certificate index, widower Herman J. Burkhard was a resident of Monroe County at the time of his death.

Catherine A. Jepson

Obituary:
Catherine A. Jepson Burkhart, 69, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday,
June 1, 2003, at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Catherine
was born January 1, 1934 at Wheeling, W.V. the daughter of the late William
P. and Twila M. Magnus Jepson. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert
J. Burkhart and a son, Brian Burkhart, a grandson, Brian Beck and a brother
Daniel Jepson.
Surviving are two sons: Robert Burkhart of Martins Ferry, and Michael
Burkhart, and his fiancé Christy Lynch of Morgantown, WV; four daughters,
Cathie Beck and her husband, Fred, Debi Siburt, Cindi Miller, Mary Beth Rehberg
and her husband, Jeffrey all of Martins Ferry, one brother William Jepson and his
wife Dorothy of Yorkville, Ohio; nine grandchildren and one great grandson.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brook-
side, Ohio on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Martins Ferry, Ohio at noon on Thursday. Entombment in St. Mary's Cemetery
Mausoleum. Rosary service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m., followed by a wake
service at 7 p.m. The Martins Ferry Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will pay
their respects at 7:30 p.m.
