Harriet Firstner

Obituary:
Mrs. Harriet Dittman, 56, of 204 Wilmot St., Duquesne, died yesterday at 10:20 p.m. in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born in Braddock on Aug. 30, 1896, a daughter of the late William and Louise Leger Firstner, and had lived her entire life in the district. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Duquesne and the Christian Mothers. Friends are being received at the Maloy Funeral Home in Duquesne. Other arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later. She was buried in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Dittman is survived by her husband, Clarence F. Dittman, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Broyal of Duquesne and Mrs. Catherine Hensel of Rankin.


Jerome J. Dittman

Obituary:
Jerome J. Dittman, 54, died yesterday at 8:30 a.m. in his home at 1800 Vermont Ave, West Mifflin. He was born in Pittsburgh on Sept 14, 1898 a son of Mrs. Mary Raab Dittman and the late Henry Dittman. He was a long time resident of Duquesne and was a machinist at the Duquesne Works of the U. S. Steel Company. Mr. Dittman was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Duquesne and it's Holy Name Society. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rella Grooms Dittman; his mother of McKeesport; three sons; Jerome Jr. of Hatboro; Bernard of the Josephinum College of Worthington, O. and James at home; two foster sons James and Thomas at home; five brothers Leo of Dravosburg, Clarence and Adelbert of Duquesne, Raymond of Miami, Fla., and Cyril of McKeesport; and four sisters, Mrs. Amelia Rendine of Connellsville, Mrs. Colette Zewe, Mrs. Margaret Madden and Mrs. Madeline Weber of McKeesport. Friends are being received at the Maloy Funeral Home in Duquesne. Solemn High Mass of Requiem will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. P. J. Bernarding. Internment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duquesne.


Rella B. Grooms

Obituary:
Rella B. Grooms Dittman, 80, of West Mifflin died Saturday in the Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh. Born March 9, 1904, in Dravosburg, she was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Duquesne, it's Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters of America. Widow of Jerome J. Dittman, she is survived by sons, Jerome J. Jr. of Graysville, the Rev. Bernard F. of Aurora, Ill., James F. of West Mifflin and Thomas R. of prosperity; 13 grand children; a great grandchild; and brother William Davis of Imperial. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 7 to 9 p.m., only, tomorrow in the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne. A blessing there at 9:30 a.m. will followed by concelebrated mass of christian burial at 10 in St. Joseph's Church. Concelebrants will be her son and the Rev. Robert Turner. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.


Bernard F. Dittman

DITTMAN, REV. BERNARD F.
74, of Dubuque, IA, on Friday, October 17, 2003. Born in Duquesne, PA the son of Jerome J. & Rella B. (Grooms) Dittman. Visitation 4-8 pm on Wednesday and after 9:30 am on Thursday at the Church. Services 11 am Thursday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church at Menominee, IL with Rev. Msgr. Eric R. Barr and fellow priests of the Rockford Diocese officiating. Parish Scripture Service at 7:30 pm Wednesday. Burial in the Church Cemetery.
He was ordained on June 4, 1955 at The Pontifical College Josephium, Worthington, OH. He read his First Mass on June 12, 1955 at St. Joseph's Church, Duquesne, PA. He worked in the Diocese of St. Augustine, FL, as secretary to Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley; Master of Ceremonies for the Diocese; founding pastor of Espiritu Sancta Parish, Clearwater; founding president of Clearwater Central high School; pastor of St. Patrick's Parish, Largo; Sacred Heart Parish, Pinellas Park. He worked also in the Dioceses of St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Venice in FL; Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Diocese of San Bernadino in CA. Father Dittman served in the Rockford Diocese since January of 1981. His assignments in the Rockford Diocese were at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford, from January 1981 to July, 1984 as Associate Pastor from July, 1984 to July , 1989 at Holy Angels Parish, Aurora, and as Parochial Administrator for Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Menominee from July, 1989 to November, 1999 when he retired. Father played baseball in his younger years and he enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling. Survived by two brothers, Jerome J. (Helen) of Boonsboro, MD and James F. (Joan) of West Mifflin, PA; an adopted brother, Thomas R. (Debbie) of Amity, PA; 13 nephews and nieces; 17 grand nephews and nieces. Memorials suggested to Nativity BVM School at Menominee.

Jean Burgman

Obituary:
Jean Burgman Dittman, 78, of 33 South Seventh St., Duquesne, died yesterday in the McKeesport Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Duquesne, and Catholic Daughters of America. Born in Duquesne, Nov. 12, 1903, she was a daughter of the late George and Jennie House Burgman and widow of Adelbert C. Dittman. Surviving are sons, Ronald of Slidell, La., and Richard of West Mifflin; and brothers, William Burgman of North Huntington Twp., Clarence Burgman of McKeesport, and Charles Burgman of West Mifflin. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Teichart-Gracan funeral Home, Duquesne. A blessing there Thursday at 9 a.m. will be followed by mass of Christian burial at in St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. Robert Turner will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.


Raphael Dittman

obituary:
Raphael Dittman, 65, of 129th St. S.W., Miami, Fla. died late Wednesday in his home. He was a former resident of McKeesport where he was in the sign painting business until he left to make his home in Florida about 20 years ago. Friends are being received at the Philbrick Funeral Home in Miami where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday. Interment will take place there. Survivors include his widow, Dorothy Norton Dittman; daughters, Mary and Dorothy; brothers, Leo Dittman of Dravosburg, Clarence and Adelbert of Duquesne and Cyril of McKeesport; and sisters, Mrs. Amelia Rendine of Connellsville, Mrs. Coletta Zewe, Mrs. Margaret Madden and Mrs. Magdalene Weber of McKeesport. Mr. Dittman was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Henry and Mary Dittman.
